B I O G R A P H Y

I have always had a great interest for languages and cultures that are different than mine. After receiving a classical education in high school, I went from learning ancient languages to modern ones, in particular English and German.
I attended German language courses at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität and the Goethe Institute in Munich, and English courses in the U.S.A. In 1986, I graduated from the Scuola Superiore per Interpreti e Traduttori (SSIT) in Bologna.
I began to work immediately after graduation as a full-time translator and interpreter at Intrastudio snc, a translation company in Mirandola, Modena.
In 1988, I became a partner with Intrastudio snc. I established my first professional contacts with European translation companies, most of which have evolved into a steady, still lasting collaboration, and worked as an English and German translator and interpreter mainly in the biomedical, advertising, clothing, and food industries, and in the technical field.
In 1994 I studied Spanish in Madrid for five months, at the end of which I passed the Spanish Ministry of Science and Education Proficiency Exam and received the D.E.L.E. Superior. Then I attended a three-month course in English for Translation and Interpretation at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS) in California.
Since 1994 I have been working as a freelance translator, proofreader, editor, and interpreter. I also teach general interpretation and technical translation at the Scuola Superiore per Interpreti e Traduttori Istituto San Pellegrino in Misano Adriatico (SSIT).
