Chapter 1: When The Day Has Come
The taxi rolled to a stop in front of the place I would soon call home. I wearily stepped out & marveled at the two story house that seemed to be looking back at me. A light rain had begun to fall, so I arched my arm over my glasses to keep the rain off. "Jessica, come on and help us unload the car before it really starts to pour." my dad shouted to me as he slung a back pack over his shoulder. He, my mom, my older brother Jason, and little sister Emily were already heading up the driveway with bags and stuff. I walked back to the cab and got the three remaining bags, one which was a back pack, and two duffel bags, they all belonged to me. Then I trudged up the cement driveway and up to the porch, stopping to watch the cab drive away, and the moving truck pull on, then I walked inside the open door. I stood in the doorway, and sat my bags down while I surveyed the house. To my left was the living room. In front of me, was the kitchen/ dining room, and beyond that, was the door that lead to the backyard. To my right, was a closet, and a door that I guess lead to the den or basement. And above that, was a staircase. I went up the staircase with my bags in hand, and looked down the hallway. There were six rooms down the hall. I choose the one closest to the staircase, and went in. It was a fairly large room with a large closet, small bathroom, two large sliding glass doors, and a window. I but my bags in the middle of the room, and walked over to them. I opened one, and went outside onto a small balcony, I could see into the house next door, there was a perfect view of a very messy bedroom. Then, I looked down, I could see a driveway, their backyard, and mine. Then I went back inside, I walked to another window, I look outside, I could see the street, the lawn, and some houses. Then my door opened and two fat guys in dirty jump suits paraded in with my bed. They quickly set it up, and headed back down stairs. Then my mom came in with a big box marked "Jess' stuff". "There's more boxes outside for you." she told me. I nodded, and took one last look out the window, it had stopped sprinkling and the sun was out, then I turned around, and went downstairs to get my stuff.
I met my sister Emily at the bottom of the stairs, she was smiling the biggest smile I had ever seen in my life! "Jess, there's some kids outside, and they want to meet you. There's some little kids, and some older ones, the older ones are guys." she said smiling even bigger. Even though she was only ten years old, she was a guy freak! I rolled my eyes, and headed outside. I stepped out onto the porch where I was greeted by a mess of kids. Two little blond girls, and a little blond boy ran towards me. Then, they swarmed around me, "Hi, I'm Mackie!" the little announced raising his hand up to me. I smiled and shook it. Then the older of the little girls introduced herself, "Hi, I'm Jessie!" she said doing the same as the boy. Then the other little girl chimed in, " And I'm Avie!" she said, I shook her hand too. "Well hello, my name is Jessica also." I said. Jessie giggled. Then I looked up, three blond boys, somewhat appeared around my age, walked over. I could feel myself blushing a little. So I grabbed the last two boxes and headed inside, pretending not to notice them. "I've got to go now." I announced, and left before they could say anything. I went to my room, set my stuff down, and watched them. They waited for a few minutes, and then left. I decided that it was better for me to try and make friends with them later, after I had other friends, because I was in no way prepared to make friends with guys like them. So I shrugged the matter off, and began settling into my room.
A little while later, mom came in and told me that I was going to start school next week. I continued working on my room, but I thought about school, I hoped that I would make some friends.
