All about boyzone. Well, Boyzone was formed in Dublin, Ireland in November 1993. Their first single that they ever released was a cover of the disco classic " Working my way back to you" was the title
It was released in March 1994 in Ireland and went to no. 3 in the Irish Charts. The first single that the Boyz had ever released in Britain was yet another remake it was " love me for a reason" It was released on November 1994. It entered the charts at number 10 and went up to no.2 for Christmas
The Boyz Appeared On Irish TV the day after they had formed the group. They were so terrible that their manager called in Madonna's choreographer and Take That's old producer to help out!
The group's name was decided through a competition.
They didn't nearly make it to the first few dates of their Something Else tour! Only days before they were due to kick off, Ro had to go to the doctor, where he was told that he had an infection in his nose. Mikey was poorly too, he had a stress related illness and had to miss a week's rehearsals. Both the Boyz recovered and the rest was history!
In 1996, when the Boyz were flying over the Australian desert, one of the engines of their plane failed. The pilot had to make an emergency landing in the middle of the desert.
In 1997, they teamed up with a French boyband named Alliage to record a bilingual version of the song" Working my way back to you"
They hit Hollywood when they sang the theme song for the movie " Bean" . The song was "Picture of you"
Their " Something Else" tour featured acrobatics, futuristic sets and strange costumes.
Their " A Different Beat" tour covered SouthEast Asia (where I live), Middle East and India! They had written the song themselves!
Their video or this song included scenes of Africa but they didn't film it in Africa though but in a warehouse in Eastern London. The Boyz stood on a blue screen and the African shots were slipped in later!
When they were on their tour of SouthEast Asia, they did a huge gig in Kuala Lumpur. It was sponsored by Swatch ( a watch company) and the "tickets" for their concert were actually watches that were swiped with a laser!
