Official Results from AGCSWF Y2K Overkill: 01-01-2000
Reported by: Christian Crawford
The show began with the AGCSWF World Heavyweight champion, Razor, coming out to the ring carrying his title belt. The champ openly courted the fans' loud boos as he stepped into the ring, took a microphone, and said, "Tonight, at Y2K Overkill, 'The Master' is going to keep doing exactly what I have been for the last few months...and that is to completely and totally without a shadow of a doubt DOMINATE this wrestling federation! Matt Roberts, you're nothing but an big, overblown, tough-talking punk, and you can't back up what you say. And as for Adam Taylor, well, I've kicked you around every single time we've met in the ring, and that's not going to change just because I have to face both of you losers at once!"
Razor waited for the fans' boos to subside, then continued: "By the way, I'm sure everyone saw last Thursday night where I kicked the living...uh, crap out of that stupid fan who had the gall to suggest he could beat me, right? Well, I've got a special treat for everyone in attendance right here. Upon reviewing tapes of that incident, I have to admit that maybe I was a little harder on the poor sap than I should have been. I understand that he is here in the crowd tonight, despite having a few bumps and bruises...ah, there you are! Say, why don't you come on up here and let me apologize for my actions, buddy?"
The fans who were sitting around the young man warned him not to do it, but he painstakingly climbed over the ringside barrier and started into the ring anyway. Razor told him, "After last Thursday night, you're probably not going to make the mistake of holding up a sign that says 'I could beat Razor' again, are you, pal?" The fan, who looked a little frightened, shook his head no.
"I'm glad to hear that," said Razor. "Because if you EVER try to be a hero in front of your girlfriend again and actually step into the ring with me like you did before, you won't remember what happened when you finally do wake up, you stupid punk! What happened to you last Thursday should prove to you, and to all these idiot fans, that they are of absolutely no concern to the AGCSWF World champion! I don't care what happens to any of you. I hate you all for everything that you are and everything that you ever will be."
The fans erupted into thundering boos that could be heard all over the arena, but Razor, who had a sarcastic grin on his face which revealed that he was truly enjoying himself, wasn't done yet. He turned to the fan standing in the ring with him and said, "One more thing I gotta tell you, pal...your girlfriend is quite a 'fun person' to be with! After I kicked your butt last week, I took her out on the town and showed her what it was like to be with a REAL man, you pasty-skinned little..." Razor's sentence was cut short by a punch to the gut from the young man, who was now seething with rage.
The AGCSWF World champion responded by picking the fan up and delivering the Razor Burn right there on the mat, without another word. This was followed by a somersault splash from the top rope, and by the end, the helpless young man was coughing up blood in large amounts. Razor picked up the mic one last time and said, "Do I need to say anything else? I think I've proven my point," before grabbing his title belt and leaving the ringside area.
Brandon "Brando" Cowles and Chad "Jitterbug" Martinac won a triple threat match for the AGCSWF Tag Team titles (which also included the champions, "Action Jim" and Ruudboy, as well as Adam Taylor and Andrew McShane) to become the new champs. Early in the match, Brandon and Chad showed exactly why they are one of the top teams in the AGCSWF by nearly scoring the win over Jim and Ruudboy with several double-team maneuvers. But after "Triple-D" got involved and powerbombed Brandon, the match turned into a huge brawl between all three teams.
Adam caught Ruudboy with the Adam Taylor Takedown, then stepped back as Andrew landed a flying moonsault off the top rope. This could have resulted in a pinfall, but once again Triple-D saved his friends from losing by pulling Andrew out of the ring and slugging him. Adam responded with a suicide dive over the ropes onto Triple-D, flattening all three men. Meanwhile, inside the ring, the "Jitterbug" took advantage of Ruudboy's situation and pinned him with a German suplex from behind, eliminating the champions from the contest.
Referees and officials ordered the Renegades to leave, and they finally did after a few minutes of arguing. Mr. Jitterbug
stopped and turned to taunt Ruudboy and Action Jim as they left, and this proved to be a mistake, as Adam caught him with a reverse DDT. As Brandon was still lying on the canvas in pain, this looked to be the move that would get the pinfall for Adam's team, but just as the referee began his count, Adam's partner Andrew sneaked up behind him and bashed him with a steel chair, to the amazement of everyone in the arena.
Andrew stood over Adam and smiled as the Hometown Boyz leader writhed in pain, and Mr. Jitterbug capitalized by nailing Adam with a back suplex off the top rope for a quick three-count to give his team the titles. After the match, the crowd was shocked to see Andrew embrace and high-five both Brandon and Mr. Jitterbug, revealing that this had been a set-up all along. Andrew finished Adam off with his own version of the Adam Taylor Takedown onto the steel chair as the fans tried to decide whether to boo or cheer. Andrew then headed back to the locker room area with his new friends, the AGCSWF Tag Team champions, leaving Adam in the ring alone.
Chad "Chaddly" Ehrmann defeated Dane Gammon by disqualification to retain the AGCSWF European title. Matt Roberts had abruptly stormed the ring in the middle of the match and hit Chad with a chokeslam, followed by a devastating powerbomb. As the referee called for the bell to end the match, Dane grabbed a microphone and said, "Hey, man, what'd you do that for? You didn't even give me a chance to beat him and win the belt!"
Matt replied by saying, "Look, Dane, you don't need to be wasting your time on that piece of tin called the European belt. If you wanna hang with me, the soon-to-be World champ, you're going to have to step it up to another level in the ring. And that's why I'm going to give you my Hardcore championship; because one, after I beat Razor here tonight, I won't need it any more, and two, you deserve a title belt of your own, and it might as well be one that I helped to make famous. You with me on this, man?"
Dane gratefully accepted Matt's gift of the AGCSWF Hardcore title, shaking his hand and promising to defend it with honor. Matt didn't seem to care all that much as he stepped over the ropes and left the ringside area, with Dane trailing behind him. Chad, on the other hand, had a look on his face that spelled "revenge" as he stumbled to his feet and headed backstage, still the European titleholder.
"Big R" Russell Davis defeated Crash and Freeze in a hardcore-style, falls-count-anywhere, triple threat match to become the new AGCSWF Intercontinental champion. Crash, who was heading into the match as champ, came to the ring first accompanied by boos from the fans. Freeze was the next competitor to enter the match, and Crash attacked her before Big R even had a chance to join in. The referee hurriedly rang the bell as Crash continued to beat on Freeze with his title belt. However, only a few seconds later, Big R came to Freeze's rescue, punching Crash in the mouth and knocking him backwards.
Crash got to his feet and engaged in a shoving match with Big R, but it didn't last too long, because Freeze came up behind both men and delivered simultaneous low blows. Crash was the first to recover, as he got back up and punished Freeze with a clothesline followed by a piledriver. At this point, the match spilled out of the ring and over towards the announcer's area. Crash placed Freeze on top of the announcer's table, then climbed to the top of a nearby turnbuckle back in the ring and prepared to hit his opponent with a flying elbow.
Suddenly, Big R struggled to his feet, came up behind Crash, grabbed him and delivered a running powerbomb off the turnbuckle, dropping Crash head-first onto a metal lunch tray. Big R then rolled over and pinned his opponent to finally end Crash's long-running Intercontinental championship reign. Afterwards, Big R and the Scooby-Doo Club celebrated his title victory as Crash and Freeze were both being tended to by paramedics.
The Alliance of Innovators (United States champion Ryan Estes, Clay Fergusen, and Chad Ehrmann) defeated "Triple-D" Dustin Day in a special handicap title match ordered by Commissioner Linda. Chad started out the match, but seemed exhausted after only a few minutes in the ring against Triple-D. Dustin took advantage of this and caught Chad, who had already wrestled earlier in the evening, with his "Welcome to Dustin's Creek" for the first pinfall.
As soon as Triple-D got up, however, he was hit in the back of the head with an Algebra book by Clay, who was next in line to face the challenger. Clay fared a little better than Chad had, but he too eventually fell victim to Dustin's strength and power. Clay was unable to kick out after Triple-D hit him with the Triple-Dominator, and immediately the number-one contender for the US title got back up to his feet and awaited the arrival of Ryan Estes.
He didn't have to wait long, for Ryan came up from under the ring, grabbed Triple-D and gave him a face-buster onto the US title belt, busting his forehead wide open. The sight of his own blood pumped new life into Triple-D, and he spent the next few moments dominating Ryan with a wide variety of moves. It looked as though victory was imminent for the former US champ, but then "The Gentleman" Grant Ankrom made his way down to the ring, climbed up onto the ring apron, and got into an argument with Triple-D.
While this was going on, Peter Hartman slipped a metal briefcase to Ryan, who waited patiently for Triple-D to turn around, then bashed him right in the head. Triple-D was knocked unconscious, and Ryan Estes was able to easily get the pin and retain his US strap.
Matt Roberts defeated Razor and Adam Taylor in a triple threat match to become the new AGCSWF World heavyweight champion, after interference from Freeze. The match began in a most unusual way, as Razor had apparently attacked Matt in the back area before he could make his way out to the ring. So, the two competitiors burst through the curtain without warning and continued their fight all the way down to the ring, where the bell was sounded and the match begun, sans Adam Taylor, whose whereabouts were unknown.
Matt had it all over Razor for the first few minutes, using his uncanny power to keep the champion grounded. But Razor managed to turn the match around by hitting Matt with a reverse Russian legsweep, spinning side kick and a legdrop off the turnbuckle. In the middle of all this, Adam Taylor stumbled his way to the ring, obviously still in pain from his earlier match. However, Adam was only in the match for a short while before his former friend Andrew McShane got involved, hitting him with a tornado DDT from the top rope. Razor dealt Matt a low blow, then scored the pinfall over Adam; but as soon as he got to his feet, he was flattened by a boot to the head.
A few moments later, both men were struggling to stay in the match. Razor took a folding chair and smashed Matt in the face. The champion climbed to the top rope and prepared to launch himself through the air, but was struck in the spine with a snow shovel wielded by Freeze.
This caused Razor to lose his balance and plunge forward into the ring, landing directly on his right arm. A sickening crack could be heard throughout the arena as Razor hit the mat hard, and he rolled over, clutching his arm in pain and evidently unable to get back up. Matt soon recovered, pulled himself to his feet, grabbed the injured Razor, and powerbombed him onto the metal lunch tray, then collapsed on top of him for the pinfall and the victory.
As soon as the referee's hand hit the mat a third time, the fans erupted into cheers that would last until far into the night, as a new AGCSWF World champion had just been crowned. But some people also had genuine concern on their faces for the now-former champ, as Razor did not seem to be moving at all. Officials and paramedics flooded the ring, helping Razor onto a stretcher and loading him into an ambulance before Freeze or Matt got any ideas. The show ended with a shot of Matt standing in the ring holding the World title belt, casting a curious eye towards Freeze, who was glaring at him from outside the ring.
