Not exactly quick on his feet, but rocksteady and difficult to shake off, Clay often represented the Innovators as their "enforcer." In time he grew weary of doing the Alliance's dirty work, and began a battle to wrest control of the stable from Ryan Estes. This conflict was eventually resolved by a declaration that no one man would lead the group, clearing a path for Clay to win the Triple Threat and Hardcore titles. He and his teammates engaged in multiple feuds with the Renegades, the Scooby-Doo Club and anyone else who dared to take them on. The conniving Clay was unfortunately prone to injury; however, he would still find a way to get involved whenever an Alliance member was wrestling for a championship.
