~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Results From the 9/4/2000 AGCSWF Live Event-- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The opening match of the 9/4/2000 AGCSWF show pitted an up-and-comer known as Fast Eddie against Derek Ankrom, the younger brother of the Intercontinental champion, Grant Ankrom. Derek was accompanied to ringside by the newest member of Grant's stable, "Big R" Russell Davis. Eddie started the match out by grabbing his smaller opponent, whipping him into the turnbuckle, and hitting a clothesline that nearly knocked Derek's shoes off. He followed this up by scoopslamming Derek to the mat, then dropping an elbow onto his sternum, which resulted in a two-count. Undaunted, Eddie picked Derek up to his feet, kicked him in the gut, and delivered a standing Ligerbomb that might have led to a victory had "Big R" not gotten involved, entering the ring and getting into a fistfight with Eddie. This gave Derek a chance to recover, and he retaliated for Eddie's earlier onslaught with a low blow from behind. Just then, Crash, who was a sworn enemy of Grant's hated clique, came running to the ring with a billy club in his hand. Upon reaching the squared circle, Crash nearly split the club in half over Russell's head, knocking him unconscious, then did the same thing to Derek, which made it easy for Eddie to score the pinfall and win the match. Afterwards, Crash and Eddie darted backstage to prevent anyone else from showing up and spoiling their party. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The next bout pitted the AGCSWF Lightheavyweight champion, Chad Ehrmann, against a fellow lightheavyweight superstar by the name of Jared Rupp. Jared had impressed a lot of people by steamrolling over David Temple during the previous week to gain a shot at Chad's belt, while Chad himself had garnered only boos thus far in his short career because of the fact that he had not won a single match without the use of his brass knuckles. Jared wasted no time in targeting the champ with a running forearm and a reverse neckbreaker, but Chad regained the advantage with an unexpected double-arm DDT for a nearfall. Chad then clotheslined Jared over the ropes, followed him outside, and attempted to ram him into the steel ring steps; however, Jared was able to catch himself just in time and stop Chad in his tracks with a kick to the groin. The fans in attendance erupted into cheers, because it looked as though Jared was on his way to winning the title as he rolled Chad back into the ring and nailed him with a full-nelson suplex. Jared then bounced the champion off the ropes, hit him with a spinebuster, grabbed onto his feet and flipped forward into a pinning position, but amazingly, Chad kicked out right before the referee's hand hit the mat for the third time. A hushed silence came over the crowd, as the majority of the fans had originally thought Jared had won the match. The challenger rose to his feet, trying to figure out exactly what it would take to put Chad away; meanwhile, the conniving champ, who was still lying on the mat, reached very slowly into his blue coveralls and produced his brass knuckles. Chad then struggled back up to a standing position, stepped forward, and took a swing at his adversary, but Jared ducked under the punch just in time and hit Chad with a dropkick to the chest. It was then that Jared made a mistake that cost him the match, as he went for a pin on Chad without removing the brass knuckles first. Before the referee was even able to count to one, the champion reached up, took hold of Jared by the collar, and slugged him as hard as he could in the side of the head. Jared sat back in surprise and then collapsed, giving Chad the opportunity to roll him up tightly for a three-count and the win. After the match, Chad was helped to the locker room area by his friends Ryan Estes and Clay Fergusen, as the fans booed the still-undefeated champ with all their might. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Triple-D" Dustin Day and Jared "Action Jim" Brison, the AGCSWF Tag Team champions, walked down the entrance ramp in preparation for their first-ever title defense against the newly-formed team of "Tytanic" Tyler Knotts and Chris "Chrispytoast" Burros. Even though the champions definitely had the height and strength advantage, both Tyler and Chris had poundage on their side. Jared and Tyler started the match out, trading a few wear-down holds, and Tyler got the upper hand with his standard maneuver, the belly-to-belly suplex. Several moments of intense fighting later, both men were beginning to look worn-out, as Tyler tagged in his partner but wouldn't let Jared do the same. "Chrispytoast" entered the ring, trapped Jared in the corner, and launched a full-body splash from across the ring, causing "Action Jim" to hit the mat like a ton of bricks. The older brother of "Action" Tim Brison somehow managed to crawl over and tag Dustin, who stepped in and cleaned house on both of the challengers before being clotheslined by Tyler. At this point, E. Haere and N. Haere, both of whom had a vendetta against the Tag champs, stormed the ring and went after whoever was in their path. N. Haere got into a punch-out with Jared, while E. Haere found himself being destroyed by Chris Burros, who was furious with the Haere brothers for getting involved. In the middle of all this, "Triple-D" hit a big boot on Tyler, then held him in place and waited until Jared was able to step over and help his partner deliver a double-team powerbomb, enabling Dustin to score a three-count and retain the belts. Afterwards, the champions headed backstage, leaving their collective adversaries to work out their differences in the ring. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Once again, the crowd began to boo and chant derogatory names as "Big R" Russell Davis strutted to the ring with Peter Hartman on his heels; Russell was scheduled to face off against Brandon "Brando" Cowles. The more experienced Brandon took over the early stages of the match, but Russell weathered the storm and fought back with a powerbomb into a faceplant. "Big R" then picked Brandon up, stunned him with a back suplex, and caught him in a figure-four leglock; but Brandon mustered up the strength to make it to the ropes, meaning that Russell was forced to break the hold. At this point, Peter Hartman decided it was time to put Brandon away for good, so he reached under the ring and came up with a baseball bat. Peter then casually stepped into the squared circle and, without warning, smashed Brandon across the ribs, then hit him in the upper back for good measure. Brandon doubled over in pain and nearly collapsed to the mat; however, Russell was there to stop him, even if it was only long enough to deliver a double-underhook suplex. "Big R" then went for the cover on his fallen adversary and was interrupted by the sight of Crash and Fast Eddie, both of whom were carrying billy clubs, attacking Peter and leaving him in a heap on the opposite side of the ring. Russell jumped to his feet in anger, but Crash quickly took him out by driving the club into his gut, then cracking him over the head with it, marking the second time in one evening that he had knocked "Big R" out cold. Fast Eddie then placed Brandon on top of Russell, giving him the victory. Grant and Derek Ankrom then came running down the ramp, but stopped just short of the ring, not wanting to risk having the billy clubs used on them as well. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Hardcore champion Matt Roberts stalked down the entrance ramp along with his confidant Dane Gammon, who continued the tradition of bringing a folding table with him. Once Matt had completed his pre-match ritual of setting the table up in the ring, it was time for his opponent, Eric Delzell, to make an appearance. As Eric came to the ring, Dane handed Matt a steel chair, then exited the squared circle and waited on the outside. Eric was too busy acknowledging the cheers of the fans to notice Matt sneaking up behind him, and as soon as the burly challenger turned around, he was instantly flattened with a chair shot to the forehead. Although Eric was on the ground and in noticeable pain, Matt didn't seem to have any remorse as he raised the chair a second time and brought it down squarely on his adversary's spine. The Hardcore champ then threw the chair down, picked Eric up into the air and dropped him face-first onto the nearest turnbuckle, following that up by trapping Eric in the corner and slamming the chair into his head one more time. A dazed and bloody Eric stumbled forward right into Matt's waiting arms, whereupon he was chokeslammed through the table and pinned. As Matt's name was announced in victory, the champion simply stood and stared at the broken body of his opponent for several seconds, then abruptly turned and headed to the locker room area with Dane. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Crash made his way to the ring, taking care to bring his billy club with him, as he was set to take on the debuting Nathan Hall in one-on-one competition. There was still a lot to be learned about Crash's opponent, who had already made his entrance to little fanfare, but that didn't stop Crash from tearing into him at the outset of the match with a flurry of kicks and punches, followed by a back body-drop off the ropes and a Russian legsweep. It seemed as if Nathan was slightly overwhelmed, and this was confirmed when Crash lifted him in the air and dropped him on his face for a two-count. Seconds later, Crash decided to finish his opponent for good, as he pulled out his billy club and whacked Nathan in the knee, setting him up for a pumphandle slam and the pinfall. As Crash celebrated his victory, he was attacked by Grant and Derek Ankrom, Peter Hartman, and "Big R" Russell Davis, but he managed to keep them at bay with his club until he was joined by Fast Eddie, at which point the face-off turned into a streetfight. Crash took Derek and Russell out of commission with his club, and Eddie hurled Peter through the ropes, leaving three men on their feet out of the original six. Grant seemed to be caught between a rock and a hard place, at least until Nathan Hall jumped Crash from behind, trying to exact revenge for his defeat. By the time Crash and Eddie were done severely admonishing Nathan, Grant had taken his Intercontinental title belt and fled the ring along with his companions. Regardless, Crash made a promise that he and Eddie would have their day in the sun before long. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Justin Penkert and his valet Tina Vandiver were the next pair of individuals to come to the ring, as Justin would be taking on Chad "Jitterbug" Martinac, who was wrestling as often as he could in an effort to gain another World title shot. Chad started by whipping Justin towards the ropes and catching him with a flying clothesline. A bewildered Justin regained his composure, then knocked Chad's feet out from under him with a martial arts kick. Chad got back up and angrily punched his opponent in the stomach, capitalizing on Justin's sudden immobility to hit a rolling DDT for a two-count. Justin struggled to pull himself together as Chad continued to dole out steady punishment. Finally, Justin managed to catch his adversary off the ropes with a hip toss. Realizing that he might not have another opportunity to get back the momentum he had already lost, Justin nailed Chad with a roundhouse kick to the side of the head, then went for the cover; but Chad narrowly escaped at two. Frustrated at not being able to score the crucial three-count, Justin went for a chokehold in an attempt to make Chad submit. However, Chad retaliated with a low blow that found its mark, setting Justin up perfectly for a release German suplex. It appeared as though Chad was ready to end the match, but just then, Tina climbed onto the ring apron and did her best to distract him. Unfortunately, her best wasn't good enough, because Chad simply turned his back on Tina and then delivered a back suplex into a sit-down Ligerbomb on Justin for the pinfall victory. Afterwards, as Tina wondered what had gone wrong, Chad left the ring with his head held high, knowing that a coveted World title shot now lay just within his reach. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The AGCSWF World Heavyweight champion, Adam Taylor, sauntered to the ring with a confident smirk on his face as his theme music blared throughout the arena. Upon reaching the ring, Adam requested a microphone and said, "Last Monday night, I was forced into a 'hardcore-style' tag team match along with Chad Martinac. Now, Chad may be a great wrestler, but he ain't a very good tag team partner, 'cuz he let Matt Roberts chokeslam me through a table before I even got a chance to show that punk and his friend Dane Gammon what I'm made of. It don't really matter, though, 'cuz as long as Adam Taylor is still the AGCSWF World champ, everything's cool. You know, Chad and Matt, I'm still waitin' for one of you guys to impress me enough so's I can grant you a title match...". With that, Adam threw down the microphone and awaited the entrance of the challenger, Nathan Bonner. However, Nathan hadn't even made it halfway to the squared circle when Chad Martinac ran up behind him and hit him in the head with a steel chair. Nathan sank to the arena floor, but Chad pulled him back up and dragged him to the ring, where Adam didn't think twice before administering his trademark finisher, the Adam Taylor Takedown, then scoring the pin. As soon as the referee called for the bell, Chad confronted Adam in the ring, and the two arch-nemeses glared at one another, then turned and looked in the direction of the entrance ramp, where Matt Roberts and Dane Gammon had showed up unannounced. With Chad's attention focused on Matt and Dane, the World champion was able to pick up his title belt and smash Chad in the back of the head with it. Adam then left the ring and headed up the aisle to pick a fight with Matt, who was more than happy to oblige. As Adam and Matt brawled back and forth in the entranceway, Dane disappeared through the curtains, then reappeared seconds later with a length of metal pipe in his hand, which he used to take out Adam's leg. In the meantime, Chad Martinac had slipped out of the ring and raced up the aisle as well, making his presence known by taking the length of pipe out of Dane's hands and using it on both Dane and the Hardcore champ. Finally, referees and officials ended the melee by sending Chad to the locker room area, and as the show came to a close, Chad gave Adam one last sharp kick to the chest as the World champion lay on his back in pain. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ List of AGCSWF Champions as of September 4, 2000: World Heavyweight: Adam Taylor Intercontinental: Grant Ankrom European: Bryce Aaron Curtis Triple Threat: Razor Hardcore: Matt Roberts Tag Team: "Triple-D" Dustin Day and Jared "Action Jim" Brison Television: Ryan Estes Lightheavyweight: Chad Ehrmann All contents are property of the AGCS Wrestling Federation copyright 1999-2009.
