~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Results From the 8/28/2000 AGCSWF Live Event-- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The 8/28/2000 AGCSWF show opened with an interview by the reigning Television champion, Ryan Estes, who barely got two words out before he was confronted by Ruudboy and Johnny Lively, both of whom wanted a shot at the TV title in his possession. Trapped in the middle of the ring with angry contenders on either side of him, a nervous Ryan had little choice but to strike some sort of deal. "Okay, guys, I'll admit I haven't put this belt on the line very often since I won it a few weeks ago, but the fact is that I haven't really been able to find anyone worthy enough to step into the ring with me," Ryan began. "Not only am I the first AGCSWF TV champion in history, but I'm the greatest TV champ in history, too. What this means is that I'm not about to give a title match to just anyone. Johnny Lively, you were lucky I gave you a shot last week, because you sure didn't deserve one after your terrible performance in that six-pack challenge earlier this month! Don't get mad, though, because I'm gonna give both of you guys a chance to get a shot at my belt right here tonight." "Here's how it works," the champion continued. "You two will face off against each other in this ring, and the winner will take me on for the TV title immediately afterwards. It may not exactly sound fair, but it's the best way to ensure that you each get an opportunity at becoming the new TV champ. Now let's start the stupid match already, because I don't have all night!" With that, the referee signaled for the bell to ring, and Ruudboy surprised Johnny by catching him with a clothesline off the ropes, followed by a DDT. Johnny kicked out of his opponent's attempt at a pin, then managed to hoist Ruudboy into position for a suplex; but Ryan jumped up onto the ring apron and distracted him, allowing Ruudboy to escape from the move. When Johnny turned around, he walked into Ruudboy's trademark finisher, the Ruuditude, and even though it was still very early in the match, Johnny was unable to kick out in time, partially due to the fact that Ryan reached into the ring and held his legs down. The fans in attendance were perplexed by the actions of the champion, and so was Ruudboy, although he was grateful that he had won the match. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Moments after scoring a victory over Johnny, Ruudboy was attacked from behind by Ryan Estes, who used his title belt to smash the challenger in the back of the head, then picked him up and decimated him with a piledriver. As Ruudboy struggled to regain his bearings, Ryan was overtaken by a very angry Johnny Lively, who speared him to the mat and then punched him in the face repeatedly. Clay Fergusen and Chad Ehrmann ran down to the ring and pulled Johnny away from their friend, and when Johnny tried to fight back, he found himself out cold and on the mat courtesy of Chad's brass knuckles. In the meantime, both Ruudboy and Ryan had pulled themselves to their feet, and when Ruudboy stepped forward to lock up with the champion, he was promptly caught and pinned with a Northern Lights suplex. Following the match, Ryan grabbed his title belt and retreated with his companions to the locker room area, leaving a confused and injured Ruudboy to revive what was left of Johnny. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ David Temple, an unproven commodity in the AGCSWF who had only wrestled once before, came to the ring in preparation for his match against Jared Rupp, who was also wrestling for the second time. The winner of this contest would go on to face Chad Ehrmann for the Lightheavyweight championship at the next show, so the two hungry young competitors didn't think twice before mixing it up, as the larger and stronger Jared whipped David off the ropes and caught him in a powerslam. Jared then set his opponent up in the corner and hurled him into the center of the squared circle with a monkey flip. The crowd was impressed by Jared's athletic ability, but David didn't seem to be putting up much of a fight, until he sucker-punched Jared for a one-count. Jared retaliated with a running shoulderblock to David's gut, then unleashed a flurry of punches to the sides of his opponent's head. Shortly thereafter, David wandered into a spinebuster, allowing Jared to grab onto his legs and flip forward into a fancy pinning position for the three-count. The fans in attendance, most of whom had previously been skeptical of Jared's in-ring skills, now cheered for him as the number-one contender for the Lightheavyweight title left the ringside area. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Next up on the card was a match for the AGCSWF European championship, with Bryce Aaron Curtis (who was accompanied by his valet, Candie Hansen) putting the belt on the line against Brandon "Brando" Cowles. The first time these two had faced off, Candie had distracted Brandon and cost him the match; but this time, Brandon had vowed that it would not happen again as he entered the ring and got into a slugfest with the champ. Bryce had his opponent on the ground before long with a few stiff punches followed by a gorilla press-slam, but Brandon fought back by driving his foot into Bryce's stomach, then getting up and landing a swinging neckbreaker. The match went back and forth like this for the next several minutes, and eventually Brandon got the advantage over his taller and stronger adversary. Brandon dropkicked Bryce from the middle rope and went for the cover, but Candie Hansen broke up the pin at two. Incensed, Brandon allowed himself to be distracted long enough to grab Candie by the hair, giving Bryce a chance to recover and set the challenger up for a gutbuster. Bryce then attempted to hit a legdrop and was unsuccessful, as Brandon rolled out of the way. Once again, Candie came to Bryce's aid, and this time, a frustrated Brandon took a swing at her. Perhaps thankfully, Brandon missed his target. However, Bryce did not, as he caught Brandon in a running powerslam and then legdropped him to capture the victory. Bryce and Candie headed backstage as soon as the winner was announced, not wanting to stick around for when Brandon woke up and discovered that he had just lost another match as a result of interference. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ A loud chorus of boos broke out among the audience as the undefeated Lightheavyweight champion Chad Ehrmann made his way to the ring. The reason people hated Chad was because he had never won a match without the use of his brass knuckles, which he could produce from within the blue coveralls he wore in a few seconds flat. Chad's opponent, "Action" Tim Brison, had never wrestled the champ before, but the younger brother of Jared "Action Jim" Brison had his sights set on winning the title. Unfortunately for Tim, he had barely stepped through the ropes before Chad went after him, hitting him with a low blow and a vertical suplex. Chad then clamped on a chokehold and wore down his opponent for the next several minutes, following that up by lifting Tim into the air and planting his face on the mat. It became clear to everyone in attendance that Tim didn't have much of a chance against the more experienced and ring-savvy Chad, but the challenger continued fighting as if his life depended on it. Tim surprised Chad by ducking under a punch and clotheslining him over the ropes, but Chad landed on his feet and pulled Tim outside the squared circle, pitching him head-first into the steel ring steps. The boos which resounded throughout the arena began to grow louder, but Chad ignored them as he raked Tim's eyes and slammed his head into the steps, then rolled him back into the ring. Tim was all but unconscious at this point, and Chad finished the job by slipping on his brass knuckles and giving the challenger a stiff uppercut, enabling him to get the pinfall without any trouble whatesoever. As Chad celebrated his fourth victory in the AGCSWF, none other than Andrew McShane confronted him at ringside, and the two engaged in a fistfight which didn't last long because of the simple fact that Chad hadn't yet taken off the brass knuckles. One solid punch to Andrew's jaw sent him spiraling to the arena floor, and Chad emerged as the victor, retaining both his championship and his unblemished win-loss record. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The next bout was for the AGCSWF Triple Threat title, featuring the champion, Razor, defending against Clay Fergusen, who had also fought Razor in the very first Triple Threat title match, and Nathan Bonner. It didn't shock too many people when Razor and Clay tore into one another at the outset of the match, but it did turn a few heads when Nathan suddenly grabbed ahold of Clay and threw him between the ropes, then joined him outside the ring. As the two challengers brawled back and forth, Razor ascended to the top rope and hit a twisting moonsault onto Clay. The champion then searched underneath the squared circle and came up with his weapon of choice, a metal lunch tray, which he smashed over the heads of both his adversaries. Surprisingly, Nathan didn't go down after one shot from the tray and had to be hit a second time before he finally collapsed. Razor took hold of Clay and tried to ram him into the steel ring steps, but Clay reversed the move and nearly broke Razor's shoulder in the process. As Nathan lay flat on his back, Clay picked up the metal lunch tray and repeatedly drove it into the big man's knee in an attempt to incapacitate him. Meanwhile, Razor crawled back into the ring, got a running start, and launched into a diving somersault splash onto Clay, who didn't even see it coming at first. When Clay did realize what was about to happen, he instinctively held the tray in the air as a shield, and Razor slammed right into it, leaving both men sprawled on the arena floor. A few moments later, Clay rolled the champion back into the squared circle and went for the pin, getting only a two-count. Nathan returned to the fracas just in time to see Razor hit Clay with a spinning heel kick off the ropes, and although Clay got up to his feet, he was only there for a second or two, because Nathan punched him in the gut and delivered an axe-kick to the back of his head. Razor then hit Nathan with a facebuster, effectively taking him out of commission for good. An exhausted Razor hoisted Clay into the air and punished him with a suplex into a driver, but was too tired to go for a shooting star press and instead simply grabbed onto one of his opponent's legs for the three-count. The fans applauded Razor's effort as he disappeared into the crowd with his title belt, leaving Nathan and Clay to wonder exactly what had happened. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The AGCSWF Intercontinental champion, Grant Ankrom, sauntered down the entrance ramp for his first title defense against "Big R" Russell Davis, who had already entered the ring. Strangely enough, the champ was not accompanied by either his friend Peter Hartman or his younger brother Derek, but it didn't seem to matter, as Grant laced into his opponent from the get-go, punching and kicking Russell until he had forced him up against the ropes, then whipping him across the ring and catching him with a flying clothesline. The fans were taken aback as Grant then unexpectedly went for the pin and scored a three-count over his opponent. No one was quite sure what had just happened, but as a very angry-looking Russell Davis sat up in surprise, Peter and Derek ran down to the ring and participated in a three-on-one attack along with the Intercontinental champion. The crowd began to boo loudly until Crash, a sworn enemy of Grant's clique, showed up and interjected himself into the action. Even Crash would have been quickly overwhelmed by the odds had he not pulled out his billy club and used it on both Derek and Peter, nearly breaking it over their heads. Now Crash had Grant right where he wanted him, as Grant could no longer rely on outside forces to protect him from Crash's own brand of retribution. Without warning, "Big R" Russell Davis turned on the very man who had come to help him, taking the Intercontinental title and getting Crash's attention, then slamming the belt into his forehead. The fans erupted into boos as they realized that it had been a set-up all along, and Russell joined Grant, Peter, and Derek in viciously pounding on their adversary. Blinded with rage, Crash tried to strike out at whoever was closest, but Russell put him down for good with a steel-toed boot to the face. It appeared that "Big R" was now the newest member of Grant Ankrom's exclusive stable, which was seemingly dedicated to ending Crash's career as well as keeping the Intercontinental title around Grant's waist. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the final match of the evening, the AGCSWF World Heavyweight champion Adam Taylor and Chad "Jitterbug" Martinac teamed to take on the Hardcore champion Matt Roberts and Dane Gammon in a hardcore-style match. Both Adam and Chad came to the ring separately, as they were only teaming in order to challenge a common enemy; but as usual, Matt was accompanied by his best friend Dane and a wooden folding table, which was set up in the center of the ring as part of his pre-match ritual. Immediately afterwards, the match exploded into a reckless four-man brawl. The fight didn't last very long, however, because as soon as Matt got ahold of Adam, he turned around and chokeslammed the World champ through the table. Rather than going for the pin, however, Matt then focused his full attention on Chad Martinac, who already had his hands full trying to deal with Dane. Chad courageously fought back against the insurmountable odds, but it wasn't long before the two big men had completely overpowered him. As Dane and Matt both executed various power moves on the helpless Chad, the crowd screamed for Adam to get up and help him, but he was still lying in the middle of a broken table, unable to do much of anything at all. Finally, Matt and Dane decided to finish Chad off for good, so Dane held him in place while Matt stepped back and smashed a folding chair over his head. Matt then reached over and grabbed Chad around the throat, preparing to chokeslam him; but just then, Adam shakily pulled himself from the wreckage and delivered a low blow to the Hardcore champ. Furious, Matt reached out to chokeslam Adam as well, giving Chad an opportunity to kick him in the stomach. Since Matt didn't see it coming, the kick doubled him over and he let go of both of his adversaries as a result. However, Adam and Chad had forgotten about Dane, who stepped forward and dented the chair over their heads, then went for the pin on Adam to win match for his team. The show closed with a shot of the victorious Matt Roberts and Dane Gammon standing in the ring, surrounded by the remnants of a table and the bodies of their fallen opponents. True to form, Matt then picked up his Hardcore title belt and exited the ring without any further celebration, not even looking back to make sure that Dane was still with him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ List of AGCSWF Champions as of August 28, 2000: World Heavyweight: Adam Taylor Intercontinental: Grant Ankrom European: Bryce Aaron Curtis Triple Threat: Razor Hardcore: Matt Roberts Tag Team: "Triple-D" Dustin Day and Jared "Action Jim" Brison Television: Ryan Estes Lightheavyweight: Chad Ehrmann ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ All contents are property of the AGCS Wrestling Federation copyright 1999-2009.
