~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Results From the 8/21/2000 AGCSWF Live Event-- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The 8/21/2000 AGCSWF show began with Chad "Jitterbug" Martinac's entrance music blaring throughout the arena as the former World title contender came to the ring. Upon reaching the squared circle, Chad raised a microphone and said, "As most of you saw last Monday night, I would have become the new AGCSWF World champion had it not been for the interference of Matt Roberts. Matt, just because you're the Hardcore champ doesn't give you any right to chokeslam me through a table and cheat me out of a victory, and I will guarantee you one thing: there's no way that you're going to win the World title before me. I'll do whatever it takes to win that belt, and that includes giving you a taste of your own medicine if you decide to mess with me again. As for you, Adam Taylor...you may be a good wrestler, but you're not nearly as good as the 'Jitterbug," and I'll prove it to you right here, right now if I need to." Chad was about to say something else, but just then Adam Taylor's music began to play, and the World champion appeared at the top of the entrance ramp with a mic of his own. "Listen up, Chad, ol' buddy," Adam began. "You gave me a great match last Monday, and I'd be happy to grant you a rematch, but the only problem is that I've already got a title defense scheduled for later tonight. So it looks like you're gonna have to wait a while longer, just like Matt Roberts is gonna have to wait. I have a lot of respect for your wrestling ability, 'Jitterbug,' but just 'cuz you lost to me doesn't automatically make you the number-one contender. I'll tell you the same thing I told Matt: if you want another title shot, you're gonna have to work for it." "Oh, I'll work for it, alright," Chad replied. "But you'd better watch your back from now on, Adam, because even though I respect you just as much as I'm sure you respect me, nothing else matters when you're dealing with the World title, and you know that better than anyone. I will eventually get my shot, and when I do, I'm not leaving the ring until I have that strap around my waist." Chad ended the segment threw down the microphone and making his way to the locker room area as Adam did the same. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The opening contest of the evening pitted the Television champion Ryan Estes against Johnny Lively. Ryan was accompanied to ringside by his friend Clay Fergusen, while Johnny faced the impending battle all by his lonesome. The referee signaled for the bell to ring, and Ryan and Johnny wasted no time in tearing one another apart. For the first several minutes, the action swung back and forth, but eventually Ryan took over with a variety of suplexes and power moves, almost scoring a three-count after hitting a running Ligerbomb. Johnny then reversed an attempted sleeperhold by the champ and turned it into his version of the Ace crusher; however, he was too exhausted to go for the pin. When Johnny had gotten his breath back to the point where he was able to cover his opponent, Ryan kicked out at two, then got to his feet, bounced off the opposite ropes, and ran right into a standing side kick. It looked like Johnny would have no trouble winning the TV title, but Clay Fergusen interfered by climbing through the ropes and engaging in a slugfest with the challenger. Clay forced Johnny into the corner, hit him with a couple of European uppercuts, then placed him on the top rope and superplexed him to the mat. Out of nowhere, Johnny's friend Ruudboy, who was also in contention for the TV belt, sprinted to the ring and exchanged punches with Clay, tossing him over the ropes and going out after him. As Ruudboy and Clay brawled outside the ring, both competitors pulled themselves to their feet and locked up once more. Ryan leapfrogged over his opponent's head, waited until Johnny was facing him again, then grabbed him in a Northern Lights suplex for the pinfall. Afterwards, the victorious champion grabbed his belt and fled backstage with Clay right behind him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Next, Brandon "Brando" Cowles made a rather low-key entrance and waited in the squared circle, anticipating the challenge that lay ahead of him. Brandon was scheduled to wrestle a match against N. Haere, who was known to never be seen anywhere without his brother and tag team partner E. Haere. The two Haere brothers met up with Brandon in the ring and attacked him before the bell had sounded, knocking him to the ground and stomping him mercilessly. Brandon tried his hardest to offset the two-on-one advantage that his opponent had, but the Haere Brothers gradually overpowered him by using swarm tactics. Suddenly, "Triple-D" Dustin Day and Jared "Action Jim" Brison, the AGCSWF Tag Team champions who apparently had a problem with the Haere Brothers, came running down to the ring with steel chairs in their hands. N. Haere turned around and became the recipient of a chair shot to the head from Jared, while "Triple-D" dispatched E. Haere in the same manner. The Tag champs then stood back and allowed Brandon to score the pinfall over N. Haere after delivering his trademark finisher, a brainbuster suplex. Afterwards, Dustin and Jared picked up the lifeless bodies of their arch-nemeses and dragged them backstage, while Brandon picked up a microphone and started to speak. "Hey, guys, thanks for giving me a hand," he said to the Tag champions, who stopped what they were doing long enough to wave back at him and then went about their business. "Now, onto more important matters. Bryce Aaron Curtis, you and your girlfriend Candie Hansen are nothing but pieces of scum, and when I get my hands on the two of you for stealing what should have been my European title, you're both going to wish you'd never been born. Bryce, I want a rematch for that belt, and if you're any kind of a real man, you'll agree to put it on the line one more time." The fans erupted into loud cheers as Brandon dropped his mic and left the ring. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The arena then quickly filled with boos as Chad Ehrmann, the AGCSWF Lightheavyweight champion who had become infamous for using a pair of brass knuckles to gain victories, made his way to the ring in preparation for his title match against Andrew McShane. As soon as Andrew's music hit, the crowd began to chant his name, as they were apparently looking for anyone who could take the belt off of Chad. The two combatants locked up, and the slightly-more-powerful Chad got the advantage by whipping Andrew off the ropes and flattening him with a dropkick, followed by a vertical suplex and a big elbow. The challenger managed to kick out of Chad's subsequent pinfall attempt, and moments later was able to reverse the champ's momentum, landing a hurricanrana and a swinging neckbreaker. Andrew then clotheslined Chad over the ropes and took him down with a suicide dive out of the ring. Desperate to ward off Andrew's attacks, Chad slowed his adversary down with a spinebuster, then hurled him shoulder-first into the steel ring steps. Chad returned to the ring and taunted the fans by slowly bringing out his pair of brass knuckles and placing them on his hand. Not long after that, a dazed but undaunted Andrew McShane pulled himself to his feet and rolled back into the ring, unaware of the fact that Chad was poised to knock him unconscious. However, when Chad approached Andrew and took a swing at him, the challenger saw it coming, ducked out of the way, then caught Chad with a slingshot suplex. The fans once again chanted Andrew's name as he set Chad up and maneuvered him into position for his finisher, the standing tornado DDT; but Chad would not be put away that easily, as he struggled out of his opponent's grip, then hit a low blow with his brass knuckles. He then aimed a little higher and punched Andrew in the head, crumpling him instantly and making it easy for Chad to get a three-count and retain his title. Infuriated, the crowd booed Chad louder than ever before and shouted derisive phrases at him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The AGCSWF European champion, Bryce Aaron Curtis, came to the ring with his valet, Candie Hansen. Before his opponent's music could play, however, Bryce picked up a microphone and said, "Brandon Cowles, I accept your challenge for a European title rematch. Make sure you're there next Monday night, or I'll come hunt you down myself, little man." Seconds later, Justin Penkert showed up along with his own valet, Tina Vandiver. Bryce was quite a bit taller than Justin, but that didn't faze the challenger as he entered the ring and before long had his opponent on the ropes with a combination of martial arts kicks and chops. The angry European champ fought back with a big boot to Justin's face, following up on that with a backbreaker and a powerslam off the ropes. Bryce then stood to his feet and began to stomp Justin into the mat, but Tina Vandiver jumped up onto the ring apron, got Bryce's attention, and slapped him across the face. Tina got down from the apron so as to avoid Bryce's wrath and was then confronted by Candie, resulting in a shoving match between the two outside the ring. Bryce reached through the ropes and grabbed Tina by the hair, allowing Candie to punch her in the gut. However, all of this gave Justin time to recover, and when Bryce turned around, he found himself on the wrong end of a release belly-to-belly suplex and a clothesline. Justin went for the pin, but only got a two-count. He then realized what was going on between Candie and Tina, and went outside the squared circle to try and pull the two apart. Meanwhile, Bryce shook his head to clear the cobwebs, leaving the ring as well to find a folding chair, which he deftly smashed over the heads of both Justin and Tina. The champion then rolled Justin into the ring, sized him up and delivered a legdrop for the victory. After the match, Bryce and Candie laughed at the sight of paramedics tending to a bloody Tina Vandiver as Justin lay unable to come to her aid. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The hated trio of the AGCSWF Intercontinental champion Grant Ankrom, his younger brother Derek, and Peter Hartman walked to the ring for the next match, which was actually scheduled to be Peter taking on the group's most prominent enemy, Crash. Grant had a microphone in his hand, but was unable to say anything at all, because Crash's music hit and the Intercontinental title contender had a few words of his own for the triumvirate. "Listen up, Peter," Crash began. "You're obviously afraid to take me on by yourself after you saw what I did to your buddy Derek, but that's okay with me. You know what they say: the more, the merrier." As he said this, Crash brought his hand out from behind his back to reveal that he was holding a billy club. But Grant, Peter, and Derek seemed unfazed, so Crash marched to the ring and engaged them in combat, which turned out to be a big mistake. While Peter and Derek kept Crash busy, Grant tapped him on the shoulder, then splintered a wooden baseball bat over his head. Peter took Crash's billy club and went after his opponent's knees with it, and even though the fans were screaming for someone to come out and help Crash, no one seemed to want to get involved. Derek exited the ring and returned with a fire extinguisher, spraying Crash in the face in retaliation for the same thing having been done to him a week earlier. Now Peter and Derek held Crash on his feet as Grant stepped back and hit him in the head not once, but twice with the club. Crash stumbled forward and collapsed, allowing Peter to score his first win in the AGCSWF, although it could hardly be considered a fairly-contested victory. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The AGCSWF Hardcore champion, Matt Roberts, stalked down to the ring with an angry look on his face and his title belt in his hand. He was accompanied by his friend Dane Gammon, who was carrying a folding table. Once Matt had completed his pre-match ritual of setting the table up in the center of the squared circle, it was time for his scheduled opponent, Nathan Bonner, to be introduced. Nathan received a lukewarm reception from the audience, but nonetheless, he stepped into the ring and went toe-to-toe with the champ, demonstrating the fact that there was a size difference of only a few inches between the two of them. Nathan turned around and held his arms in the air to get the crowd more involved and on his side, and that's when Dane handed Matt the Hardcore belt. As soon as Nathan turned to face his adversary, Matt charged forward and drove the belt right into his skull, opening up a large gash. Disoriented and bleeding, Nathan stumbled to his feet, only to find himself being picked up and chokeslammed right through the table, then covered and pinned by Matt to set a new record for the shortest match in the history of the AGCSWF. Without another word, Matt picked up his belt and left the ring, although Dane Gammon stayed behind for awhile longer to taunt the helpless challenger as officials flooded the ring. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The final bout featured Adam Taylor defending his AGCSWF World Heavyweight title against one of the heaviest and most powerful men in the Federation, Nicholaas Leembruggen. Even though Adam was smaller than his opponent, he still went after Nick with everything he had, but the burly challenger lifted Adam into the air and dropped him face-first onto a nearby turnbuckle. Nick stomped on Adam a few times, then pulled him up and hit an abdominal stretch into a powerslam, dropping an elbow across his chest for good measure. Surprisingly, Adam narrowly kicked out of the pinfall attempt, and the match continued. Now it was the champ who began to take control, hitting a dropkick to Nick's left knee, followed by a kidney punch and an attempted DDT; however, Nick was too strong for Adam, as he was able to reverse the maneuver into a back body-drop, then bounce off the opposite ropes and go for a big splash. Adam moved in the nick of time, leaving Nick to fall flat on his face, then immediately grabbed his fallen adversary and managed to DDT him for a two-count of his own. A few minutes later, though, Nick was back on his feet and dominating the contest once more, at least until Chad "Jitterbug" Martinac showed up and climbed onto the ring apron. The actions of Chad distracted Nick and gave Adam just enough time to hit the Adam Taylor Takedown for a three-count and the win. Puzzled as to why Chad had helped him to retain his championship, Adam called Chad into the ring, and the two superstars got into a staredown that was interrupted when a furious Nick Leembruggen attacked Adam from behind. Just then, Matt Roberts and Dane Gammon got involved, as Dane entered the ring and smashed the Hardcore title belt into the heads of Chad and Nick. In the meantime, Matt grabbed Adam around the throat and violently chokeslammed him, then commandeered the World title and stood in the middle of the ring with a championship belt in each hand as the show went off the air. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ List of AGCSWF Champions as of August 21, 2000: World Heavyweight: Adam Taylor Intercontinental: Grant Ankrom European: Bryce Aaron Curtis Triple Threat: Razor Hardcore: Matt Roberts Tag Team: "Triple-D" Dustin Day and Jared "Action Jim" Brison Television: Ryan Estes Lightheavyweight: Chad Ehrmann All contents are property of the AGCS Wrestling Federation copyright 1999-2015.
