The Slave

Nearer comes the nightfall
At the end of one slave's day
He hears his master calling
And tries to run away.
But the master is in power
As he has been from the start.
The two are intertwined now
And they cannot come apart.

Thoughts of freedom fill the slave's mind
But he knows that cannot be
Though others fought and won the battle
He thinks, "It's not to be."
If only he could turn back time
To when he met his fate
He would have chosen differently
But now it is too late.

The slave now grabs the needle
And sticks it in his vein.
He cannot resist his master
And his master is his bane.
The air is slowly growing cold
And day's becoming night
While the slave is growing tired
And will lose the will to fight.

Drug abuse is a topic that is very important to me. I've had friends struggle with it. The red ribbon cursor being used on this page is the symbol of drug abuse awareness. For more information about the Red Ribbon Campaign, please check here.
