The Wilkinson's
Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin
July 14, 2000

by Tracey

My parents and I arrived at the grandstand around 3. The gates weren't supposed to open until 6:30 but DT let us in around 4 to watch the soundcheck (we stayed back in the bleachers). By 4 a few other fans had shown up, my cousins a few of them. After the soundcheck we were told we could grab our seats (because it was first come first serve). We had front row at first, but little did we know the first 5 rows had been saved due to some giveaway a grocery store and local gas stations had had. Some other fair dude came and told us we all had to leave (there were about 20-30 people now), and could come back when gates opened at 6:30 (well some other fair dude let us in so we thought it was okay). By the time my cousin Danielle B., friend we'd made there (Hi Danielle L.!), and her mom got out we were about the 20th person in line.

6:30 came and we rushed to get seats…6th row at first, then some of the reserved people didn't show, so we got to go up farther, snagging 3rd row on Tyler's side (pretty good seats I know, but we were all pretty bummed that we'd had front row because nobody knew about this ticket giveaway, we were all told that it was first come first serve, general admission. Oh well) Showtime… The show was great! The Wilkinson's came out (Amanda in black leather pants and a black tank top, Steve in a Hawaiin top and pants, and Tyler in camoflauge pants and a black shirt) and started singing (I forget which song was first). Throughout the show they sang the usual songs (their hits, some covers, and other songs off the 2 albums), plus a few new one's they'd written recently ("Outside Providence", "Not Today" with Steve on lead, and another one I can't remember the name of). Girls would go up to the stage and hand Tyler things, guys Amanda…one little boy in particular looked about maybe 4 years old or so, it was sooooo cute his mom stood by the side motioning him to walk over to Amanda and he did! One girl hugged Tyler and got yelled at (HA sorry but I think it's rude to hug him while he's onstage…wait till the meet and greet and ask if you can is my opinion). I even went up and handed him Star Wars tattoos, which he loved! During Jimmy's Got a Girlfriend everyone started pushing up, so I jumped chairs and got the empty spot in front row with my cousin and friend! After that song the Wilkinson's thanked us all for coming and rushed off the stage. We continued cheering and they came back! For the encore they sang "One of us In Love", "1999", and one other song (I forget).

Meet and Greet… The Fan club signing was great! Danielle B., Danielle L., Danielle L.'s mom, and I stood in line and got my uncle (Danielle B.'s dad) to come in and videotape (DT let us!) Danielle B. went up and they started talking about her "Bum Equipment" shirt…then she hugged Amanda and Tyler, got a pic taken, had them say a message to her friend Elaine, and left. Then I went up and Amanda started talking to me which was cool. I got a pic taken and then asked Tyler if he remembered me (cuz he'd been looking at me an awful lot over the day) in which he said "Yes we had the lightsaber duel" and smiled!) Guess that answers my question, he didn't even hesitate! I then had him sign a pic of us fighting and gave him a smaller version to keep…after that I handed him the Star Wars door thing I'd made (which he totally loved! Danielle L. says Amanda and Tyler were still getting over it when she went up in line after me :0) It was funny because Chris was in the back and she yelled to Tyler "What is it?" and Tyler yelled back "It's a Star Wars thing!" and she was like "oooo" and then she started laughing). I got a pic taken with Tyler and the poster, gave Kiaya a Birthday card and presents, and left. Danielle L. went up next and got her pic taken and autographs, she didn't say much tho…

The Public Signing After the fan club meet and greet The Wilkinson's had a public signing. This time my other cousin got to go through the line too, along with my mom so it was cool! My mom got a photo signed for "The Word" which we'll be giving away to a lucky member in the future and I told them about my newsletter and got a message for the site (go to https://www.angelfire.com/country/theword/theword.htm to hear it). After that it was time to go, but it had been a great nite! Can't wait until next time!
