Shiri Appleby

With her captivating performance on "Roswell," Shiri Appleby is set to make a name for herself as she builds on an acting career that began at the age of 4. Shiri's unusual first name (pronounced to rhyme with 'cheery') is Hebrew and means "my song." Shiri's mother comes from Israel.

Born December 7, 1978 (Sagittarius), Shiri grew up in the San Fernando Valley just outside of Los Angeles. She first appeared on television in numerous commercials, including those for Cheerios, Taco Bell and M&Ms. Shiri portrayed a gang member in trouble on The WB's "7th Heaven." Additional guest-starring appearances include "thirtysomething," "ER," "Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Doogie Howser, M.D." She also starred in the cable television movies "Perfect Family" with Jennifer O'Neill and Bruce Boxleitner, and "Family Prayers" with Paul Reiser and Anne Archer. In addition, she starred on Norman Lear's original series "Sunday Dinner."

On the big screen, Shiri appeared in Lawrence Kasdan's black comedy "I Love You to Death" with Kevin Kline, River Phoenix and Tracey Ullman, and had a role in "The Thirteenth Floor." She appeared in "A Time for Dancing" with Peter Coyote, Amy Madigan, and Larissa Oleynik and in a teen movie called "Deal of a Lifetime." She was a cheerleader in Calabassas High and was featured in an article in "American Cheerleader," and has twice graced the cover of "Seventeen" magazine. Shiri attended classes at the University of Southern California where she was majoring in English. She studied ballet, is interested in photography, and does volunteer work for charities. She overcame a childhood fear of animals to appear on 'Emergency Vet' and adopted a kitten.
