The Final Showdown

[Opening scene]

A huge white light glows over the desert. An alien spaceship lands in the same place Tess left Earth from. Doors opens and smoke surrounds the cave and 2 figures walk out. It's Tess and a new face.

Tess: We're here... It’s still the same.

Mystery man: You thought it would change?

Tess: Lets get going. We have a long way to go before we reach Roswell... Where’s Zan?

(A little boy walks out about 7 years old)

Zan: Are we there yet?

Tess: No Zan, not yet.

(Picks him up and hand him to Kivar)

Tess: Kivar. Hold him.

(Kivar takes Zan from Tess)

Tess: Let’s go... It's time to meet Daddy.

[Scene ends]

(Cuts to Liz and Max on her balcony, Max and Liz are kissing)

Liz: I had a wonderful time tonight.

Max: Me to. Thank you Liz.

Liz: For what?

Max: Everything, for tonight, for sticking with me though everything, for the person I am. Because of you and because of the person you are.

Liz: Max...

Max: Liz I love you, and I need you to always remember that.

Liz: Max. What’s wrong?

Max: Liz... I have to find my son, no matter what I have to do I can’t give up... One day I may have to return home to save him and if I go home... I'm not sure if I may ever come back.

Liz: Max I will always be with you and stand by you no matter what.

Max: I know you will Liz but there are some things I have to do alone.

Liz: Max, I love you.

(Max smiles at her, they kiss and he climbs down from the balcony and Liz goes in side)

[Scene ends]

Isabel: So how are things with you and Maria?

Michael: Non-existent. You and Jessi?

Isabel: I think he is still a little shaken about the whole Alien thing. He went to New York to think things through and clear his head.

Michael: He couldn't do that here?

Isabel: I guess not.

(There is a pause Isabel gets up and is looking in the refrigerator)

Isabel: Can I ask you something?

Michael: Sure.

(Isabel walks back to the sofa and sits down)

Isabel: Has Kyle seemed lonely to you?

(Michael gives her a strange look)

Michael: Kyle is lonely. He hasn't had a girlfriend since who that girl he went to the rave with a couple of years ago?

Isabel: Right, right... Do you have a picture of him?

Michael: Why?

Isabel: I think I'm going to do some dream walking.

Michael: Okay... Let me check.

(Michael starts looking through a drawer and pulls out the prom picture)

Michael: Here. Knock yourself out.

Isabel: Thanks see you later.

(Isabel leaves with the prom picture in her hand)

[Scene ends]

[Kyle's Dream]

Kyle is at the garage working on his boss's car. Behind him Isabel walks in, she walks around him and sits on an oil drum next to him. Suddenly the door slides open and Isabel walks in (she's wearing the clothes she wore New Year's eve). The real Isabel looks surprised.

Dream Isabel: Kyle?

Kyle looks up, dream Isabel & Kyle start kissing.

Isabel: Oh, no.

Kyle: You want to go for a ride?

Dream Isabel: Maybe later. (She pushes Kyle into the car, and they start making out. Isabel hops off the drum, and leaves the garage)

(She looks around to find herself back in her room with the picture in her hands)

[Scene ends]

(We see Kivar in a car dealership. He waves his hand over one of the cars and it unlocks. He jumps into the car pulls out the instructions and starts to speed-read)

Kivar: Seems easy enough.

(He waves his hand over the steering wheel and the car starts. He drives towards the back where Tess and little Zan are waiting)

Tess: Okay Zan... Get in. Hurry.

Zan: What is it?

Tess: It's a car... It's like a human spaceship.

Zan: Oh, okay.

(Little Zan gets in the back and Tess jumps in the front)

Kivar: How far till Roswell?

Tess: An hour or two.

(Tess looks in the back of the car Zan is already asleep)

Kivar: What do we do when we get there?

Tess: Finish off that bitch Liz who ruined everything.

Kivar: Sounds like fun.

(The car speeds away towards Roswell)

[Scene ends]

(Isabel just arrives at Kyle’s)

Kyle: Isabel?

Isabel: Hi Kyle.

Kyle: Hello Isabel. Did you want to see my dad, because he’s out at the moment.

Isabel: No I came to see you.

Kyle: Really? Why?

Isabel: So Kyle... How have you been?

Kyle: Um... Good.

Isabel: That’s good...

Kyle: Isabel you okay?

Isabel: Yeah of course I am I was just wondering how you where.

Kyle: I’m fine. Um...Can I get you anything Isabel?

Isabel: No. Nothing. Thanks anyway.

Kyle: I’m making pop-tarts... Um... But you can stay if you like.

Isabel: Yeah, okay.

Kyle: Chocolate okay?

Isabel: Chocolate is my favorite.

Kyle: Great. Mine too.

(They walk into the kitchen. Kyle gets two plates out and pours them both a drink)

Kyle: So how’s Jesse?

Isabel: He’s good. He’s taking time out to clear he head and think things through he says.

Kyle: Is he home?

Isabel: No he's in New York at the moment.

(Kyle accidentally drops a glass he goes to pick it up, Isabel goes to fix the glass they both meet on the ground and then stand up)

Kyle: Well...

Isabel: Um Kyle...

(Before Kyle can respond Isabel kisses him and he kisses her back. Kyle gets visions of Isabel)

Kyle: Wow.

Isabel: I gotta go.

(She hurries out, Kyle is still dazed by what just happened, Isabel gets in her car and goes home)

[Scene ends]

(We're in Michael’s apartment)
(Michael is taking a Snapple from the fridge)

Michael: Hey, have you noticed anything unusual with Isabel?

Max: No. Why?

Michael: She asked for a picture of Kyle.

Max: Oh?

Michael: She mentioned something about dream walking.

(Both of them shrug it off)

[Both sit at the counter in Michael’s apartment]

Michael: How are things going?

Max: Fine I guess.

Michael: Going out with Liz tonight?

Max: Maybe.

Michael: Okay Maxwell. What’s on your mind?

Max: My son.

(Michael takes last gulp to finish off his Snapple)

Michael: What else is new.

Max: Michael I need to find him.

Michael: Get a grip Max. I don't know how you plan on finding him let alone leaving the solar system.

Max: I have to try Michael. Some thing tells me I need to find him soon.

Michael: I'm going to have a Snapple. You want one?

(Taking a Snapple out of the fridge)

Max: No thanks. I got to go.

(Max starts to walk out the door)

Michael: Okay. Later.

(Michael sits down to watch TV)
(Max leaves)

[Scene ends]

(Next we see Maria and Liz at the Crashdown talking)

Maria: So... You and Max...

Liz: Maria! (Grins) No... I’m telling him I want to wait.

Maria: Do you?

Liz: Maybe... Uh... I don't know. I want to be with him, but... I don't know. How was Michael?

Maria: I’ll put it this way. Its out of this world.

Liz: Sorry... I didn't mean to bring him up. I know you guys are...(waiting for a response)

Maria: Well that’s the problem. I really still care about him, but I just can't deal with this alien hoopla. I thought I was getting a break by going to New York. But that fell through. Then we thought we were getting away from it for a little while. Then it all came rushing back when Max tired to kill us. Then he just wanted to kill you...But it wasn't really Max...But it was...There see how confusing these aliens can be?

Liz: Maria, this is what our lives are going to be like from now on.

Maria: What if I don't want my life to be like this from now on.

Liz: Maria. (Smiles) I just don't want to loose him. He's the best thing to happen to me, and if anything jeopardizes that...

Maria: Nothing is going to happen. Nothing will get between you and Max again. You're like inseparable.

Liz: (quietly) He's been thinking about his son again.

Maria: I'm sure he's thinking about his son a lot. I mean, wouldn't you wonder about a child you have, but never seen?

Liz: Yes, but it makes me wonder if he's thinking about Tess too.

Maria: Don't worry about Tess... He loves you and always has...Tess, just tricked him.

Liz: Maybe... But maybe...

Maria: Really Liz, you shouldn't have to worry about her again. She's long gone.

[Cut to Tess and Kivar in the car]

(Tess and Kivar are speeding past a sign that reads welcome to Roswell)

Tess: Home sweet home.

Kivar: Where would Liz be right now?

Tess: Usually at the Crashdown.

Kivar: What’s a Crashdown?

Tess: Some stupid restraint that her parents own and she works at.

Kivar: When do we see Max?

Tess: When Liz is out of the picture!

(They drive into the little town of Roswell.
They past the Crashdown and notice Liz and Maria inside)

Kivar: Who’s the blonde?

Tess: That’s Maria, Liz's best friend.

Kivar: She’s cute.

Tess: Don't talk about Maria that way she’s as terrible as Liz!

Kivar: Is it that time of the month.

(Tess hits him in the arm)
(Kivar slams on the breaks and grabs Tess's arm)

Kivar: Now you listen to me. I know you're upset but remember who the boss is here. Got it?!

(Zan sits up and is startled at the sudden stop)
(Tess pulls her arm out of his grip and gives him a pity look)

Tess: I'm sorry it’s just... I get so upset over this entire thing can you blame me?

(Kivar gives her a sorry look)

Kivar: I'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt your arm if I did...

(Kivar is about to start the car up again when Liz runs out)

Liz: Is everything okay out... Oh my God! Tess!

Tess: GET HER!!!

(Kivar starts chasing Liz with the car)
(Liz runs inside of the Crashdown and locks the door. She sees the car drive away. She is breathless)

Maria: what’s wrong?

Liz: Tess is back and I think with Max's son.

[End Scene]

(Max is on Liz's balcony he sees a car running Liz down. He runs downstairs to check on Liz)

Max: Liz! Are you all right?

Liz: Yes. Some guy and Tess tried to run me over.

Max: Tess? (Sounding very shocked)

Liz: She's back Max...And with your son.

Max: Are you sure?

Liz: Yes.

Maria: What are we going to do?

Max: We need to get every one together. We'll meet over at Michael’s. I'll drive.

(The three are walking out to the back of the cafe where Max has his car parked)

Max: Liz. Call Kyle and Isabel and tell them we're meeting at Michael’s and it’s an emergency.

(All three hop into Max's car while Liz starts dialing her cell phone)

Maria: (as they're about to drive away) Well, there goes the world as we know it...again.
Can't anything be simple with you Aliens?

[End Scene]

[Scene starts in Michael’s apartment where the Podsquad and everyone has arrived]

Max: We have a problem.

Michael: Great bad news. What else is new.

Max: It's Tess. She’s here.

(Everyone gets shocked looks on their faces even Michael)

Michael: Tess?!

Isabel: What about her?

Max: She’s back... and we think with my son.

Michael: Are you sure it was Tess?

Liz: I'm positive she was with some guy and a little boy who was in the back seat. They tried to run me over.

(Everyone seems to be in mild shock. Michael seems to find his voice first)

Michael: Well I know what we have to do.

Max: What?

Michael: Kill Tess and her mystery man.

Isabel: Michael. Slow down we don't even know what we’re up against.

Kyle: I agree with Michael... I mean are we forgetting what she did.... She killed Alex, and would have had you guys killed if she would have gotten you all back to your world.

Max: Kyle we just can't jump into things.

Michael: Why not what’s wrong with jumping into things?

Liz: Max we have to do something we just can't wait here.... She has every opportunity to do whatever she wants to each one of us.

Maria: Max you know Liz is right.

(Max looks at everybody one by one)

Max: you all have been there for me and I care about you all and I won't let her hurt any of you... But Isabel is right we have to come up with an idea for what we are up against. I mean she brought back someone with her from our world and we don't even know what power he posses.

Isabel: I agree.

Michael: Well what do we do now?

Max: Were going to split up into pairs. Michael stays with Maria at her house because I don't think Tess knows where Maria lives. Kyle you go with Isabel. Liz and I will go to Liz's.

Michael: But Tess knows where Liz lives.

Max: She won't know I’m there. Is every one ok with that?

Everybody: Yeah. I guess. Fine. Sure.

Max: Okay lets go.

(Max and Liz walk out the door. Isabel and Kyle leave, and Michael grabs some stuff and shoves it into a bag, then him and Maria leave)

[Scene ends]

[Scene opens at Maria's house. Michael & Maria are just walking in the door]

Amy: (calling from another room) Maria? Is that you?

Maria: Yes mom. (To Michael) Okay, come on in. This is just for tonight or until this whole thing can blow over. (Kind of under her breath) Why couldn’t I just stay with Liz?

Michael: (But, Michael heard) You know I don't have to take this from you tonight. I can just go to Isabel's and stay with her and Kyle. (Starts to walk back out the door)

Maria: Michael stop. (Michael stops to turn around) Please come in. Max and Liz would have kittens...(Kind of under her breath) or some other weird creature...if they found out I was left alone and you just left to go to Isabel's.

(Michael reluctantly walks back in the door)

Michael: Does your mom know that we...

Maria: I don't think so. She's been kind of busy lately. We'll talk about it later.

Amy: (Comes walking into the front hallway) Maria, I was wondering if you would be home for sup...(realizing that Michael is there)...Michael what a surprise. What are you doing here?

Michael: Ah, plumbing broke in the apartment. It smells really bad. I was wondering if it was okay to crash here tonight.

Amy: Of coarse Michael. I told you, you’d always be welcome in this house.

Michael: Thank you.

Amy: Welcome on the couch.

Michael: Thanks Ms. De Luca. That was actually what I had in mind.

Amy: Well, don't stand in the doorway all night. Put your stuff down and come eat. I know we have enough for three. I made Italian. (Amy goes into the kitchen)

Michael: I love Italian. (Looking at Maria) It’s even better on Scooby plates. (Calling to Amy in the kitchen) Do you have any Tabasco sauce?

(Michael walks into the kitchen leaving Maria in mild shock to watch him go)

Maria: Oh, this could be a long night.

(Maria goes into the kitchen to eat with her mother and Michael)

[Scene end]

(When Max announced for Kyle & Isabel to spend the night at her and Jesse's apartment, Isabel never thought she'd feel so uncomfortable. Kyle walked in and decided to sleep on the couch)

Isabel: If you're hungry there's leftovers in the fridge that you're welcome to.

Kyle: Okay, but if you don't mind I think I'll just watch some TV.

Isabel: No, go ahead.

(Kyle turned it to MTV2. P.O.D.'s Alive was playing)

Isabel: Kyle?

Kyle: Yeah?

Isabel: Um, I-I'm going to go to bed.

Kyle: Okay. (Pauses for a few seconds) Isabel? (He stands to face her)

Isabel: Yes?

Kyle: About earlier...

Isabel: (starts to blush) Earlier?

Kyle: It's okay, I think I understand.

Isabel: You, you do?

Kyle: You dream walked me.

Isabel: H-h-how?

Kyle: I saw you in my dream, sitting on the oil drum.

(Isabel is speechless)

Kyle: It's okay. So, you wanted know what I was thinking. I understand you probably miss Jesse, and it doesn't help that he doesn't completely understand your situation.

Isabel: So, we're okay?

Kyle: (smiling back at her) Yeah, we're okay.

(They share an uncomfortable moment)

Isabel: Sorry, I'm...(she points to the bedroom)

Kyle: Oh. Yeah...Well, Goodnight.

(Isabel leaves, Kyle sighs as he sinks down onto the couch and flips the channels)

[Scene ends]

[Max and Liz have just arrived outside at the Crashdown]

Liz: Well, here we are. We're going to go in through the back door. I know my father said that he gave you a second chance...But if he found out you stayed the night...

Max: (Silencing Liz by putting a finger to her lips) He won't. Come on lets go.

[Taking Liz by the hand the two go around to the back to the fire escape looking stairs. Both go up the stairs and Liz unlocks the door and goes in. When Max closes the door behind him, he locks the door with his power. He follows Liz into her room]

Liz: Okay, um, I'm going to change for bed.

Max: Okay.

Liz: Oh, you didn't bring a change of close.

Max: Its okay I'll sleep like this...On the floor.

Liz: Sure.

[Liz goes in the bathroom to change and Max proceeds to lay some blankets on the floor. Max starts to get settled and takes off his shirt and lies down. Liz comes back out of the bathroom and climbs into bed.]

Max: Liz.

Liz: Yeah?

Max: You never really told me...Why did you lied to me about sleeping with Kyle?

Liz: (sighs) Because you told me to.

Max: I what?

Liz: Do you remember that night that you came with the Mariachi band?

[Flashback to EOTW when Max is with the Mariachi band outside Liz's balcony singing to her]

Max: (Smiling to him self) Yeah. I spent a week learning the lyrics from Mr. Delgado at the hardware store.

Liz: That must have been really embarrassing for you.

Max: Yeah it was...but I had to do something to get your attention. You had shut me out.

Liz: I knew you were coming that night.

Max: How did you know? I didn't tell any body.

Liz: This is going to sound weird and almost impossible...You showed up out side my window...I mean a future version of you...from 2014.

[We see a flash back of what Future Max looks like]

Max: 2014?!

Liz: Shhh.

Max: (Talking more quietly) why didn't you tell me?

Liz: Because you said that in the future we are taken over by your enemies. Everyone. Earth. You said you need me to help you keep that from happening. And that no one could know you were here, especially not you. I wanted so much to tell you what was going on but the future you said, if a person encounters himself in another time period, there could be a...a reaction.

Max: A reaction?

Liz: Yeah future you said, It had something to do with quantum mechanics, but in essence, you and future you would both be destroyed if you actually came into contact.

Max: Oh.

Liz: Future you said, The closer that you and I grew, the worse it got with Tess, and eventually she left Roswell...Because of how you treated her. And it turned out Tess was critical to your survival. The four of you - Michael, Isabel, Tess, and you...you said you made a complete unit. You all had different gifts, and with one of you missing, you weren't as strong, and everything fell apart.

Max: So, I told you to help get Tess and I together.

Liz: You wanted me to help you fall out of love with me. I tried setting you up with Tess....

[(we see a flash back of Max entering Congresswoman Whitaker's office)

Liz: Max.

Max: Were you watching?

Liz: Um...

Max: So, it was all a setup.

Liz: Yeah.

Max: You tried to get Tess and me together?

Liz: Look, I know that you must hate me right now. I, um...

(Max grabs Liz and gives her a long, passionate kiss)
Flashback ends]

Liz: Getting you upset with me....

[(Flashback to Max's room at home. He is doing some pull-ups. There is a knock on his window. It's Liz)

LIZ: Don't say anything, ok? Um, because I...I came in here with this whole speech, and once you start talking, my speech doesn't apply, and everything gets changed, and I just want to make sure that I say everything to you, so just don't say anything. Just don't say anything. Ok, I...I just re-read "Romeo and Juliet", and you know, the first thing that I realized is that isn't even the title. It's called "The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet". They die. You know, she's this young girl, she...she's younger than me, and she dies. Look, I think the reason why people think that it's such a romantic play is they don't know what it's like to be put in that position...but when your life and...and other people's lives are...are put at risk, there isn't anything romantic about it. Max, you can't stop what's happening to you. I mean, your life will always be dangerous, but my life, it doesn't have to be. My life is only in danger if I am with you. I...I want to be in love with boys...normal boys. I...I want to see my 21st birthday. I...I want to have a wedding day. I...I...I want to have children...and I want my children to be safe. You know, Max, if...if you truly love me, you'll let me go. I may love you, but I...I don't want to die for you.

[Flashback ends]

Liz: But you just didn't seem to get the hint. Future you told me the night of Gomez you came to my room. That's the night that things between us would have been cemented.

Max: Cemented. So when you say cemented, you...

Liz: Yes. You said we made love. That you even had protection.

Max: I did.

Liz: Do you know how unreal that sounds? There you are Max the Saint, just walking around with a condom in your back pocket.

Max: So, in order to not let that happen...

Liz: I had to do something...drastic.

[Flashback to where we see Max seeing Liz and Kyle in Liz's bed, dropping the tickets and leaving]

Max: It worked.

Liz: I didn't mean to hurt you.

Max: I know. Some how I've all ways known.

Liz: Max?

Max: Yeah?

Liz: Could you sleep with me tonight?

Max: Sure.

[Max climbs into bed with Liz and puts his arm around her]

Liz: Thanks... I just feel safer now.

[Liz drifts off to sleep]

Max: I love you, Liz.

[Both fall asleep]

[In the distance you see Tess and Kivar. Zan is sleeping in the car. Tess is using binoculars to see into the window]

Tess: How cute. He's staying there to protect Liz from me.

Kivar: I don't see why you consider her a threat?

Tess: Shut up. You don't know her like I do.

Kivar: How cute. You’re still in love with him.

Tess: With that BOY? Please.

Kivar: Come on let’s get to a motel.

(Both leave and drive away from sight of the Crashdown)

[End Scene]

(It’s the middle of the night in Liz's room. A dark figure creeps close to the bed and around to the side where Max is sleeping. The figure whispers his name into his ear and we hear that it's Tess' voice)

Tess: Max...

Max: (almost bolting up) Wha...

Tess: (covers his mouth) shhh...don't say anything.

Max: (looks over at Liz and then rolls off the bed to sit on the floor next to Tess) And why not? How did you get in here?

Tess: Through the window on the balcony. I got away from him for now. Max if he knew I was here he'd kill me and our son.

Max: Who.

Tess: Kivar.

Max: (recollection dawning on his face) So that's who that was.

Tess: Yes. I told him that I’m going to kill Liz and he also wants you dead...Oh, If he found out I was here...

Max: (disgruntled) Then why are you?

Tess: I need your help to get our son and me away from him.

Max: Why should I help you?

Tess: Because your son's life depends on it...and because....

Max: What?

Tess: You know that I really didn't want to go alone...I was so scared. I was hoping you would come with me and then you could win your throne back.

Max: How do I know you're telling the truth.

Tess: You'll just have to trust me.

Max: That's hard to do.

Tess: (with a worried look) I have to go...if he wakes up and I’m not there....

Max: I'll talk to the others.

Tess: of course you will (smiling) that's what you do. (Leaving through the bedroom window again) I'll see you again.

[Scene ends]

(Tess is sitting on the roof of the motel, where she, Kivar, & Max Jr. are staying. Thinking back to what Nicholas had told her in New York)

Tess: I won't give up the Granolith, you can't make me!

Nicholas: Fine, but just remember why you were brought to this horrible planet in the first place.

Tess: Refresh my memory.

Nicholas: To get an heir to the throne from Max and bring his child home. By whatever means necessary. That's it. You two aren't soul mates, and you aren't the queen, Nesado told you that so you would agree to use Max. You belong to Kivar and you always will.

Tess: I won't do it. I won't hurt him.

Nicholas: You will or I'll kill you.

Tess: I still won't do it.

Nicholas: You don't and I'll let Kivar know. He'll come here and kill Max and the rest of the royal four. Leaving the duplicates to lead the rebels, which you know they won't be able. You will destroy a whole planet. If you don't think of Max's welfare, think of the welfare of an entire planet.

Tess: (In tears) I-I'll try.

Nicholas: You'll do it.

Max: (from a distance) Tess? Tess?

Nicholas: Got to go, Kivar will be pleased to know that you're cooperating. (He disappeared.)

Max: (Running up to Tess) Tess, Tess, Tess, are you all right?

Tess: I don't know.

(But she did know. Sitting up there on the roof, Tess started crying. How could she have done the things she did? Tess now knew, she had to try and make things right again. She couldn't bring Alex back, but she could save her and Max's son. She had to)

[Scene ends]

(We are at Isabel and Jesse's apartment. Kyle is sleeping on the couch still, and water is running. Isabel is in the shower)
(There is a knock on the door)
(Kyle doesn't move. He's still asleep)
(There is another knock on the door)
(Kyle gets up puts a shirt on and goes to the door and looks through the peep hole to see who it is)
(Its Max and Liz)

Kyle: Max. Liz. Morning.

(Kyle lets go of the door and sits back on the couch. Max and Liz walk in and Max closes the door)

Max: Hey.

Kyle: Hey. Hey Liz.

Liz: Hey. (Isabel comes walking out from the bathroom with a bathrobe on and she's towel drying her hair)

Isabel: Max, Hey.

Max: Hey.

Isabel: I didn't know we were meeting here?

Max: Yeah. I called Maria and Michael and told them to meet us here. They should be here any time.

Kyle: Okay. Well, I'm going to go and use the shower.

Isabel: Okay. I'm going to go get dressed. Max, Liz you wouldn’t mind picking things up a bit would ya?

Liz: uh...well...

Isabel: (Doesn’t really wait for an answer) Thanks. (and walks into her room)

(Max and Liz start picking things up when there is a knock at the door)

Liz: Who is it?

Maria: It’s us.

(Liz opens the door and Michael and Maria walk in and Michael goes to sit on the couch)

Liz: So, what did your mom have to say about Michael staying over?

Maria: She bought the whole, "The plumbing broke in the apartment," speech and let him stay.

Liz: Good.

Maria: What about your parents?

Liz: They don't know that Max stayed over.

Maria: Good.

(Isabel comes walking in from the bedroom all dressed and Kyle comes back out from the shower all dressed)

Kyle: Okay. What now?

Max: Tess came to see me last night.

Michael: She what?

Liz: Excuse me? What? When?

Maria: What did she want?

Max: She's in trouble, with my son.

Michael: More than what she got herself into? I almost didn’t think that was possible.

Isabel: What kind of trouble?

Max: Kivar is with her.

Michael: Kivar!?!

Maria: Ironically that makes sense.

(Maria goes to sit in a chair)

Max: Kivar is here to get rid of us...Completely.

Michael: I'm feeling deja vu coming on.

Max: He's using my son as bait.

Kyle: Did she give you a reason for us to actually trust her?

Max: No.

Michael: Then why should we help her?

Max: To help my son.

(Everyone is in quiet agreement)

[Scene ends]

(Max and Liz are walking down the street to the Crashdown)

Liz: Why didn't you tell me about Tess?

Max: I didn't know want to upset you, and make your powers go off...You've gotten a better handle on them.

Liz: You know how I feel about Tess. It upsets me that you wouldn't tell me.

Max: Liz I’m really sorry... You know that I would never mean to hurt you.

Liz: I know but it's Tess. She took something from you I can never have.

(Max has a flashback of him and Tess)

Max: Liz the only good thing that came of that was my son.

Liz: Do you really mean that?

Max: Of coarse. If I could pick the mother for my son it would be you.

(Liz stops and wraps her arms around Max and gives him a kiss)

Max: I love you and nothing or nobody will change that.

(Max and Liz start walking again)
(Tess walks out from an alley, near where Max and Liz were talking, she looks angry)

Tess: Yeah? Well, we’ll see about that.

[Scene ends]

[Scene change to Michael’s apartment]

(Michael is moving around the kitchen area making a very aggressive lunch)

Michael: You know none of this would have happened if Max didn't finally decide to let Tess in. Who does she think she is, barging back in here demanding...(aggressively shakes more Tobacco sauce on sandwich) Do we even know what she wants?!?!

(Maria looks like she wants to say something but no words come out)

Michael: Exactly. I don't think we have any idea other than something about that kid and we know Kivar wants to exterminate us! (As he's pounding his sandwich with more Jelly) Story - of - my - life!

Maria: (Under her breath) Tell me about it.

Michael: What?

Maria: Nothing. You know if you pound that sandwich any more your not going to have much of a sandwich left.

(Michael looks at the all ready flat sandwich lying on the counter top)

Michael: Good. It’s done.

(Michael starts to eat the sandwich and goes over and flops down on the couch)

Maria: Feel better?

Michael: I will feel better when they are dead and gone.

Maria: Do you aliens ever bury the hatchet?

Michael: Thats kinda hard when your whole life has already been messed up once by the guy. Besides, its you I want to bury the hatchet with.

Maria: Michael, we've talked about this.

Michael: No. We haven’t.

Maria: Michael I told you I want what I used to want. To be able to pick up and go when I want. To follow my dreams with out having to look over my shoulder because I could be running from bad aliens.

Michael: I love you Maria. I can't help that.

Maria: I know. I'm sorry Michael.

Michael: If I could Maria I would take the alien out of me. But I can't. Its almost as much a part of you as it is a part of me.

[End Scene]

[Scene opens in what appears to be the Roswell City dump]
[Kivar and little Zan seem to be practicing on a locked car door]

Kivar: Okay son...Try it again. Concentrate harder.

Zan: I am. Why do I have to know how to unlock a door?

Kivar: (He looks like he is trying to control his temper) Because it should be the easiest thing you are able to do on this ball of mud. Try it again.

(We watch as Zan gets disgusted with him self after trying a couple of times)

Kivar: Get out of the way kid.

(Kivar pushes Zan out of the way and slides his hand over the lock and we hear a click. Kivar swings open the car door, than closes it again and moves his hand over the lock to lock it again)
(Out of frustration Zan whips around and throws out his hand concentrating really hard at a small pile of garbage. The garbage than suddenly explodes)

Kivar: *Tisc tisc* Temper, temper, temper. Careful you’re starting to take after me.

Zan: Why do I have to practice this!?!?

Kivar: A powerless king is a powerless king indeed.

Zan: What?!

Kivar: It’s not a good idea to be helpless when your enemies are around.

Zan: Are they here?

Kivar: Yes. They all are. (Starts to look around for something and spots what he's looking for) Ah, That will do just fine.

(Kivar walks over to a pile of garbage and snatches a dove)

Zan: What’s that?

Kivar: They call it a "Dove".

Zan: Its pretty.

Kivar: Yes it is. Just like your mother. But looks are deceiving. (Holding out his hand with the dove clenched in it, squirming) Kill it.

Zan: Why?

Kivar: Consider it practice and a lesson. Always see others as your enemies until I tell you other wise...No matter what they look like.

(Zan is now holding the Dove)

Zan: (looking up at Kivar) Are you my enemy?

Kivar: No I'm not. Now...Kill it!

Zan: I don't want to. It hasn't done anything wrong.

Kivar: Either you kill it or I will.

(Zan stands there holding the Dove close to him)

Zan: No!

(Kivar advances on him and with a swipe of his hand over the Dove its dead)

Zan: What did you do that for?!

Kivar: When I tell you to do some thing you do it!

(Zan sits on the ground clutching the dead Dove in his hands close to his chest rocking back and forth crying hysterically clearly upset)

Kivar: What are you doing? Get up.

(Max Jr. shakes his head no and continues to rock. All of a sudden a light starts to emerge from where Zan is clutching the Dove. It starts to get brighter. As fast as it starts it ends. The Dove starts to move again. Zan stops crying stands and releases the Dove)

Kivar: (Shaking his head in disgust) You have a lot to learn.

(With one wave of Kivar's hand the Dove falls to the ground dead. Zan starts running up to the Dove, but before he can get to it the Dove bursts into a small ball of flames and is dust)

Kivar: But you remind me a lot of me.

(Kivar walks up behind Zan as he is looking at what was a Dove)

Kivar: (Harshly whispering) Never...cross me again. Do as I say or you won't live very long.

(Zan stands up and faces him. Tears are now gone)

Zan: Yes sir.

Kivar: That’s a good boy. I think we're done for the day. Let’s go find your mother.

(Both walk out of the Dump yard. Kivar’s arm around Zan leading him out)

[Scene End]

(Tess is walking down the street trying to get back to the dump where she knows Kivar and Zan are when she hears someone behind her calling her name)

Mrs. Evans: Tess? Tess? Tess?

(Tess turns around)

Mrs. Evans: Look honey I knew it was her.

Mr. Evans: (strange look on his face) Yes...it appears to be.

Mrs. Evans: (uneasily now) We were just out for a walk...and ...Well, how is my grandson.

Tess: Your...?

Mr. Evans: You don't have to lie to us. Isabel told us everything...you getting pregnant, driving away in Max's jeep...(he appears to be testing her)

Tess: Uh...well he’s fine...

Mrs. Evans: Well can we see him?

Tess: Um...we're not exactly settled in right now...actually we live a motel.
(Tess looks down)

Mr. Evans: We can't have our grandson living in a motel... I insist that you both come stay at the house.

Tess: Oh, but I couldn't...

Mrs. Evans: But you must. Go get your stuff right now. Do you need us to go with you?

Tess: NO... Um... I'll have to explain it to him and... Well there's something else.

Mrs. Evans: Yes?

Tess: Well you'll see when we get there.

Mr. Evans: Okay. You go on ahead. You remember where we live don't you?

Tess: Yes. I do.

(Tess turns and leaves but as she turns she mind-warps their memories. Then whispers sadly to herself)

Tess: If only it were that easy.

[Scene ends]

(Michael and Mara are driving to the Crashdown)

Maria: Michael about the little fight we had I just want to say what you said about taking away the whole alien thing was really sweet.

Michael: I meant it Maria.

(Maria changes the radio station and Michael starts yelling)

Michael: MARIA WATCH OUT!!!

(Maria looks up and slams on the brakes she almost hits Zan and Kivar Maria gets out of the car not knowing who it is)

Maria: Oh my God!!! Are you alright I’m so sorry I looked down for a second and there you were.

Kivar: Where fine (gives a sly smile) you ok?

(Maria gives him a strange look)

Maria: Yeah we're fine.

Kivar: We're?

Maria: Oh, my friend was with me.

(Kivar looks at Michael their eyes meet Michael gets a flash of Kivar ordering Nicholas to kill him on their home planet he knows who he is.
Michael goes to get out of the car but little Zan has locked the doors)

Zan: Hey, look! I did it!

Kivar: Good job son.

Maria: Your son is cute but what is he talking about?

Michael: MARIA GET AWAY FROM HIM!!!!

(Maria looks at Michael and back at Kivar)

Maria: I'm sorry... Old ex he’s protective.

Kivar: I can see why.

(Maria blushes)

Michael: IT'S KIVAR RUN!!!

(Maria looks up and Kivar smiles. Maria turns to run away but Kivar grabs her)

Maria: LET ME GO YOU JERK!!!

Michael: MARIA!!!!

(With an evil grin Kivar looks at Michael and kisses Maria on the cheek. Maria eyes get big and she grabs her chest and falls to the ground knocked out)

Michael: NOOOO!!!!

(Michael gets so furious he uses all his powers and busts out the front window and climbs out. Kivar grabs Zan and runs)

(Michael runs to Maria and picks her arms he’s crying and screaming)

Michael: Come on Maria wake up Wake Up, WAKE UP!!!! Wait Max...he can save you just hold on Maria you'll be awake in no time.

(Michael puts Maria in the car and drives off )

[Scene ends]

[The Crashdown is closed but Max, Liz, Kyle and Isabel are all there]

Max: Kyle did you tell your father that Tess is here?

Kyle: Yeah. After we dropped my stuff off. I told him to go on a fishing trip.

Liz: And.

Kyle: It took some convincing but he was leaving with fishing gear in the car.

Max: Great. That way it’s one less pers-...

(Max is cut off when Michael comes running into the Crashdown to lay Maria on the counter)

Liz: Oh my God. Maria!!

Isabel: Oh my god.

Kyle: What’s wrong with her?

Max: Michael what happened?

Michael: (catching his breath) it was Kivar... And your son.

Max: My son?

Liz: What happened to Maria?

Michael: I'm not sure exactly. Max you have to do something. (Max is looking Maria over trying to figure out what to do and where to start) First we almost hit them on the side of the road. Maria got out to make sure every thing was okay. This guy looked at me and I had a flash that it was him, it was Kivar. The kid locked my door so I couldn't get out. Kivar grabbed Maria and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Maria grabbed her chest and fell over and he grabbed the kid and they were gone.

(Max steadies his hand hovering over Maria's chest. All of a sudden Max jerks from pain)

Max: Ah, ugh!!! (Breathing heavy)

(Bright light fills between Max's hand and Maria. The light glows from a White to an orange to an eerie green. Max release what he was doing and collapses to the floor)

Liz: Max! Are you okay?

Max: Yeah. I think so. (Liz and Michael help Max up) I've stabilized her. She's breathing now.

Michael: Stabilized her? Why isn't she awake Max?

Tess: Because he can't heal her completely.

(Everyone snaps around to see Tess standing just inside the entranceway of the Crashdown) (Michael takes a couple of steps forward to put out his hand getting ready to release an energy blast on Tess)

Max: Michael! NOOO!!!

(Max runs up just in time to deflect Michael's blast from hitting Tess. Instead the table nearest Tess explodes and wood chips go flying.
Kyle covers Isabel as they duck down and Liz covers Maria as Michael and Max shield them selves from the blast)

Tess: You know Liz's dad isn't going to be too happy about one of his tables being broke.

Max: Tess what are you doing here?

Tess: I was walking down the street when I saw what happened. I followed Michael here.

Michael: (Advancing on Tess and Max stopping him) What did he do to Maria!?!?

Tess: Have you ever heard of the "Kiss of Death"? It’s kind of like that...only...

Isabel: Only what?

Tess: It paralyzed her...From head to toe.

Liz: (looking back at Maria) Oh, my God.

(Michael puts up his hand again, but Max is there to stop him)

Max: How do we get her back to normal?

Tess: Kivar.

Michael: Kivar put her like this. I don't think we’re going to be able to just walk up to him and say, "Gee, I know you want to kill us but could you do me a favor and save one of our friends."

(Tess stands there looking down at the ground)

Michael: I didn't think so.

(Michael walks back over the counter and sits on a stool looking at Maria)

Tess: I'm sorry I didn't mean for any of that to happen.

Liz: (Enraged, Liz walks over and stands by Max) Just like you didn't mean to kill Alex?

Tess: I didn't mean to.

Kyle: You don't seem to mean to do a lot of things.

Max: (looking back at everyone) Back off. (Looking back at Tess) What else can we do to save Maria?

Tess: There is nothing else. You need Kivar.

Liz: So, she could stay like that... Forever?

Max: (Walking up real close to Tess) you go back to Kivar and you find out what needs to be done.

Tess: Max I can't...

Isabel: You can't or you won't?

Max: You asked me to do something for you, and I did. But, now we need help before we can help you.
(Grabbing her arms) Tess...We need your help.. I need your help.

(Tess looks like she’s deep in thought. Max lets go of Tess’s arms)

Max: Please, Tess.

Tess: All I know for now is just make her as comfortable as possible. And we either need Kivar to reverse what he’s done, or...

Michael: (Michael looks back up at Tess, taking his eyes off of Maria for the first time) Or what?

Tess: Or, Kivar has to be killed and Maria will go back to normal once Kivar is dead.

Michael: (gets up from his chair) Okay...No problem. I'll kill him myself. Where is he Tess?

Max: Michael you’re not going anywhere.

Michael: We have to do something Max! I can't just sit here.

Max: We have to let her try. (Looking back at Tess) Find out what we have to do. Meet us back here at midnight with something to help us out. Go.

Tess: But Max...

Max: GO!

(Tess walks out of the Crashdown)

Michael: I can't believe you’re going to leave this up to her.

Max: We have to let her try.

(Max walks back over to Maria. Everyone else follows)

Max: I trust her. For some reason I trust her.

(Max turns around to look back at Michael. But, Michael is gone. We only see the door swing shut)

[Scene ends]

(Tess wasn't sure yet of how to get Kivar to heal Maria. But what she did know was that she had to make sure that Kivar didn't expect anything yet. She burst into the motel room, Zan was asleep on the bed. She walked over and yanked Kivar out of the chair he was sleeping in)

Kivar: What the hell?!

Tess: The plan was to go after Liz, not Maria, Liz.

Kivar: I was bored, plus I thought it would be fun to mess with that blockhead. He was the one who attacked Nicholas.

Tess: Bored! Are you trying to get me killed?! An attack directly on Liz would be perceived as an attack on Max. An attack on her best friend would lead her to me.

Kivar: Who cares bring them on, they're only teenagers. Besides didn't you kill one of they’re friends before you left?

Tess: Yeah & Max almost killed me for it. Besides what does Nicholas have to do with any of this any way?

Kivar: He's my second in command, the blockhead is Max's second, I thought it was poetic.

Tess: Fine, whatever, but Michael has a dangerous temper, why don't you exchange Maria for Liz.

Kivar: I'll think about it.

(With that Kivar left the motel. Leaving Tess to her thoughts)

[Scene ends]

(Opening scene Kivar is walking around town)

Kivar: I can't have any fun it's just kill Liz, kill Liz. When Liz is gone Max we'll be ours to rule blah, blah, blah.

(Kivar walks by the Crashdown everyone is inside except for Michael)

Kivar: Well, well, well.... Everyone so sad about poor Maria...I think I should get a better look at Liz I saw more of her backside when I was chasing her with a car. (Chuckles to himself)

(He peers in the window. He already knows all the Podsters just from a feeling he gets. He sees Maria then he sees a girl walk from behind the counter with a pillow. It’s Liz)

Kivar: Oh my... I can see why Tess wants her dead. Someone that beautiful could cause trouble...Max you have great taste.

(Kivar sticks his hand on the window it glows red)

Liz: Here put this under her head.

(Liz goes to put the pillow under Maria's head but Liz is suddenly thrown across the room)

Max: LIZ!!!!

Isabel: Liz oh my god!

Kyle: No, Liz!

(Liz lay lifeless on the floor)

Kivar: There. Just to send a fair warning. Now time to make in entrance.

(Kivar is about to break the glass open when Michael throws him across the street into a streetlight)

Michael: That’s for Maria!

(Kivar just lies there and slowly starts to pick himself up rubbing his shoulder. He smirks at the Crashdown and runs away holding his shoulder.
Michael walks into the Crashdown and tells max that it was Kivar)

[Inside the Crashdown]

Michael: He’s gone. What was that all about?

Kyle: Liz has been hurt.

(Both run to the back of the Crashdown where Liz was thrown. Max is already in the back kneeling by Liz)

Max: Liz?

(Max is looking to see what he can do if anything. Then Liz starts to stir)

Liz: Max?

Max: Its okay. I'm here.

Liz: What happened?

Max: Kivar used his power to throw you back. Are you okay?

Liz: I think so.

Kyle: Liz, just move very slowly to make sure there are no broken bones.

(Liz starts to get up)

Liz: Everything seems to be okay. Nothing broken I think. Oooo...Thats gonna leave a bruise.

Max: Well if we start to see one I'll take care of it. Come on, Kyle help me get her up to put her into a booth.

(Max and Kyle get Liz standing and walk her over to the nearest booth to the counter. Michael comes out of the back and hands Liz a glass of water)

Liz: Thanks. (Starts to drink the water)

Michael: What happened?

Max: Where did you go Michael?

Michael: I had to go and let off some steam.

Kyle: Feel better?

Michael: Not really. (To Max) When is Tess coming back here?

Max: In a few hours. But when she does I'm going to ask her what this is all about?

Michael: Max we're sitting ducks if we stay here.

Max: We would be defenseless anywhere else. We have to just rely on the fact that we know this place better than Kivar. We wait here for Tess.

Michael: Fine. Whatever.

(Michael walks to the back of the Crashdown)

Max: Liz. Are you feeling better?

Liz: Yeah. I think so.

*Ding*
(We hear the order bell in the back go off)

Isabel: Michael? What are you doing?

(We see Michael start to put on his cook’s apron)

Michael: Well, I figured since we are going to be sitting ducks doesn't mean we have to starve. So, what does every one want? (He doesn't wait for anyone to answer) Burgers, and fries? No problem. Coming right up.
(We see Michael getting ready to cook in the back...Isabel and Kyle tending to Maria...Max tending to Liz)

[Scene ends]

(Kivar has returned to the motel room)

Tess: So...where were you?

Kivar: Out.

Tess: You went there didn't you.

Kivar: Maybe.

Tess: Shut up with the vague answers and tell me what you did.

Kivar: (rubbing a shoulder) Well I wouldn't say we underestimated them...

Tess: But you know they could kill you, don't you. Something happened.

Kivar: NOTHING HAPPENED!

(Puts his hand up to hit her when Zan stirs and sits up)

Zan: Mom?

Tess: It's okay (goes over to him) Kivar is realizing that things don't always go the way we planned them.

Zan: What do you mean.

Tess: You can do it now. (Looks at the boy) I'll help you.

(Zan and Tess mindwarp Kivar into thinking that they are still there but meanwhile they are sneaking out.)

Tess: Now we have to run.

Zan: Where are we going?

(Tess and Zan leave the motel room and are running down the road towards the Crashdown)

[End Scene]

[Scene cuts back to the motel room with Kivar still seeing the hallucination of Tess and Zan]

(Kivar waves his hand and the hallucinations disappear)

Kivar: (Chuckling to himself) She thinks she's so smart.

(Kivar puts his hand over a wall and we see a red light glowing from his hand. Kind of like a laser. When he is done its in the shape of a door. Kivar opens the door. We see Zan sitting up in a small room just big enough for him)

Zan: What happened?

Kivar: You didn't make a sound did you?

(Zan moves his head no)

Kivar: Do you remember what I told you when we were practicing?

(Zan moves his head yes)

Zan: (Quoting Kivar) "Looks are deceiving." And, "Always see others as my enemies until you tell me other wise...No matter what they look like."
(Looking up hopeful) Am I right?

Kivar: That’s right son. You can come on out of there now.

Zan: Why did she leave?

Kivar: Because she's with them.

Zan: The enemies you were telling me about?

Kivar: Yes.

Zan: Is she my enemy now?

Kivar: Yes.

(Zan looks down at his feet very disappointed)

Zan: What will happen to her?

Kivar: When she reaches the Crashdown or where ever she’s going...The Mind-warp of you will disappear and she will realize what she has done. Do you remember what else I told you?

Zan: Yeah...You said, "Do as you say or you won't live very long." Did she do something wrong?

Kivar: Yes. She underestimated me.

[Scene fades out]

(Before Tess walks back into the Crashdown Zan disappears. Tess stops before walking in and realizes what has happened. She bursts into the Crashdown about to tell them what happened when she sees evidence that in fact Kivar was there earlier. Michael is fixing and cleaning up the broken glass, Max and Liz are still sitting in the booth, and Kyle and Isabel was tending to Maria that was still on the counter)

Tess: What happened?

(Liz gets up. Apparently very angry, she uses her powers and throws Tess against the wall)

Max: Liz!

Liz: Get up bitch!

Tess: Wha...How?...

Michael: I guess you could say she evolved. Kinda cool uh? (looking back at Liz) Good shot Liz.

(Tess is starting to slowly stand up)

Liz: That is for every thing you have put all of us through.

Kyle: Like you don't know what happened.

Tess: Okay...I do know. That was the plan when Kivar and I came back...It was only because Max you needed to see that being with her is a mistake and...

Max: Tess you come to me and asked me to trust you and this whole time you where planning to kill Liz. How can I trust you?

(Tess looks at Liz)

Tess: Would you do anything for Max Liz? Anything?

Liz: Yes.

Tess: What if you where me and you found that Max was in love with someone else. Would you do what ever you felt you had to do just to be with him?

(Liz looks at Max)

Liz: Yes...But I would be happy for Max to know that he was happy and with someone he loved and someone who could love him back.

(Tess is speechless)

Liz: Did I try to break you and Max up? NO... I let him be. That was his decision I would never make him love someone he didn't want to.

Tess: You...you...you're serious.

Liz: Of course.

Tess: I...I.... I'm sorry Liz for everything, to you to Max, Michael, Maria, Kyle. Please let me show you that you can trust me.

(Max looks at everyone they give him unsure faces)

Max: One last chance Tess and if you betray us again...

Tess: I won't.

(Tess walks out of the Crashdown)

[Scene ends]

(Tess is just walking)

VO: I have no idea what to do next. I can't go back to Kivar, I can't go back to Max. I need to get Zan. to safety, but I fear that Kivar has him so twisted up in this that nothing will make him want to come with me. What a failure I turned out to be...How does someone wreck her life and the lives of all she loves? Well someone once said that if there was no place to go, you could always go home. So that's what I’ll do...go home
(She walks up to Kyle's home and notices Jim Valenti's car in the driveway. She opens the door with ease. Jim is standing behind the door and grabs her arm.)

Tess: (screams) what are you doing behind the door?

Jim: What are you doing here?

Tess: I just...felt like coming here. I knew you'd be home.

Jim: How? I almost went on a fishing trip.

Tess: Your car is out front.

Jim: Well what are you doing here now? I thought you left for home...?

Tess: I came back. It's a long story. (She runs her hand over the back of a chair) I think I always knew this was my home.

Jim: It was supposed to be, but then you...

Tess: I'm sorry. I'm part human too you know. (She grins sadly). I just need some help or advice or something.

Jim: About what.

Tess: Well, Kivar is with me, and so is Max's son.

Jim: Really?

Tess: You don't believe me?

Jim: It's hard to believe someone who's lied so much.

Tess: Not you too? It seems as though no one can understand that I’m on your side now and I’m not trying to kill everyone. I made mistakes and I’m ashamed of what I did to Alex. There's more to this than just him though. Isn't there?

Jim: Yeah.

Tess: Well I’m going to try to make things right and I would appreciate your help.

Jim: Hmmm...(Thinking it over)...since Kyle's wrapped up in all of this, I think it's only fair to help. Let's go.

(He heads for the door, but Tess stops him)

Tess: We need to work out a plan...

[Scene ends]

[Scene opens back at the Crashdown...Its the next day]

(Tess comes running into the Crashdown where it looks like no one has been doing much of anything but waiting around)

Max: Yes.

Tess: I'm in the same boat you all are in. We all are just going to have to put our heads together and think of something to save my son, and (looking at Michael) save Maria.

Michael: What are you talking about? All of a sudden you’re on our side?

Tess: (Looking back at Max) I may have an idea.

Max: Well, lets hear it.

(Max sits down at a near by table. The others gather more closely around. Tess is pacing as she's talking)

[Scene switch. Mean while back at the motel]

Kivar: Are you ready son.

Zan: Yes. Where are we going?

Kivar: Home.

Zan: What about my enemies?

Kivar: We are leaving now.

Zan: Won't we kill them like you said?

Kivar: Sometimes making your enemies live with suffering is far better than killing them.

Zan: I understand.

(Both walk out to the car, and start driving out of Roswell)

[Scene Takes place out in the middle of the desert where Tess had first landed]

(Max and Tess are standing where Tess and Kivar were at the beginning of the show)

Max: This isn't going to work Tess.

Tess: Yes it will.

(We see that every one seems to be in hiding places behind rocks that are close by. Michael is on top of one of the rocks. He suddenly yells down to Max and Tess)

Michael: I see a car coming!

Max: Every body ready?!

Kyle: (looking at Liz) Show time.

(Michael comes down from atop of the rock and goes behind another rock on Max's side. Isabel is behind the rock on Tess's side. Both can see Max and Tess, but will be hidden by Kivar)

(The car drives up and Kivar and Zan get out of it. Kivar comes around the car and takes Zan by the hand and they start walking up towards Max and Tess)

Kivar: (Chuckling) well, well, well. What have we here? King and Queen together at last. Oh, if you could only see yourselves now. (Chuckling again) So, pitiful. So, week. (Looking down at Zan) Come son...We're going home.

(Max squares himself more in front of the entrance to make sure that Kivar knows his isn't getting past)

Max: Your not going anywhere with my son.

(Kivar starts to laugh)

Kivar: Your son?

(Kivar starts to laugh again)

Tess: (Aggravated) What’s so funny?

Kivar: You two really think you have a child together?

Max: Yes.

Tess: I was pregnant.

Kivar: (Thinking out loud) Yes. Yes you were. But, you two need to have sex, or "make love", or however you humans put it, for this to be your child.

(Max is looking from Tess to Kivar)

Max: We did.

(Kivar is laughing again)

Kivar: You, who were throwing destiny out the window every chance you got?

Max: What are you talking about?

Kivar: Do you really think that the first time I've come to earth was for your dear sister’s wedding? Which reminds me. Vilandra! I know that where the brother is the sister isn't far behind.

(Isabel is behind the rock breathing hard)

Kivar: Vilandra! Come out!

(Isabel steps out from behind the rock face and is now standing next to Tess)

Kivar: There now. See I still have some control over her. (Chuckling) She still comes when I call.

Max: What do you want?

Kivar: You see Zan I still needed an heir to your throne. I had been watching you all as you grew up. (Looking at Tess) I would kill Nasedo again if he weren’t already dead, for not teaching you to do your job correctly. But, no. You had to do your own thing once you found these three. Nasedo couldn't control you any more. His usefulness ran out. You were still trying to do things your way, and you were not getting anywhere with him. But I have to give you credit...You definitely tried. (Now looking from Max to Tess) The night you two thought you "Slept" together...(looking at Max) You kept going on about how your wonderful Liz might be right, and you had decided to go and help her in her crusade to find your friends killer. And, that you loved her more than anything. As you started walking away Zan, Tess here tried to mind warp you into staying there. But you see her powers are not strong enough to put in an altered thought and keep it there...Her mindwarps wear off. So, I had to help that night. (Looking from both Max to Tess) I mindwarped the both of you into thinking you had slept together. And, while you were sleeping I implanted a fetus into her that wouldn't survive for too long in earth's atmosphere as a fetus. (Looking at Tess) That was to remind you Tess about your urgency to go home and bring the others with you. (Looking from Max to Tess) So, you can imagine my surprise when it was just her that dropped out of the sky and landed on my front step. (Looking at Tess) You did give birth to a son...But, he’s not your son. Little Zan here has neither of your DNA in him...Its all mine. So, you see he is my son...Genetically engineered and enhanced to more so look like you Zan and have the combination of the gifts you both have. He even has the royal code etched into his DNA. No one on Antar can dispute him. He is my son. (Looking down at Zan) Right Zan?

Zan: Yes Daddy. Are they going to let us go home now?

Kivar: Yes.

(Michael steps out from behind his rock face now)

Michael: Not until you fix Maria Kivar.

Kivar: Ummm...Let me think about it...Ummm... No.

Michael: Fine. I prefer it like this any way.

(Michael stretches out his hand to throw out an energy blast. Kivar is ready to block it...At that moment Liz and Kyle come running out and grab Zan and carry him across to go behind the near by rock face. Michael releases his blast as Kivar sends one back, the blast meets in the middle and explodes)

Kivar: Ha. Is that all you got?

(Max and Isabel both release energy blasts at the same time catching Kivar off guard. He seems to be getting hurt. Max looks at the three one by one and nods his head)

Max: On three. One. Two. Three.
(All four release an energy blast on Kivar and he hits the ground. The four start to approach him. Kivar puts up his hand near where Zan was carried off, and a portal to Antar starts to gleam down)

(Meanwhile behind the rock face Liz is looking Zan over to make sure he isn’t hurt. Zan is standing just staring at Liz. Kyle is trying to see around the rock face to see what is going on)

Zan: (To Liz) You’re pretty.

Liz: Thank you.

Zan: Like a dove.

Liz: A dove?

(Zan shakes his head yes and raises his hand to throw an energy blast at Liz. Kyle sees what is happening all of a sudden, and lunges forward as Liz ducks and Kyle pushes Zan as he falls into the portal. Zan stands up and is suddenly gone and so is the portal)

(The Four reach Kivar lying on the ground, as he is chuckling)

Kivar: You fools. It’s done. I've won.

(The four put up their hands to fire again. But right before they do Kivar raises his hand and fires at Michael. Michael is thrown back and lays motionless on the ground. At that moment the three release their blasts and Kivar is dead and then disintegrates before their eyes)

(All of them go running up to Michael. Max gets there first, and lifts Michael up to a reclined position and is cradling him)

Max: Michael!

Michael: Max.

(Now Tess, Isabel, Kyle and Liz are standing and kneeling around Michael and Max)

Isabel: Oh my God, Michael.

Liz: Max! Do something!

Tess: He can't there is too much damage.

(Max puts his hand over Michael’s chest and starts to use his power. Michael coughs and you can see it hurts worse)

Michael: (wheezing) Maxwell...

(Max stops using his powers)

Michael: Its not working.

Max: Michael...

Michael: I'm dying.

Max: (starting to sob) No. No your not. Let me try again.

(Max is about ready to try again when Michael grabs his hand)

Michael: Maxwell its no use. I'm dying.

Isabel: Michael, don't talk like that. (Isabel starts to sob)

Michael: (looking at Tess) Is Maria going to be all right?

(Tess is crying and nods her head yes)

Michael: (looking back at Max) Tell her I love her Max. Tell her…Tell her, I've always loved her.

Max: I will Michael.

(Michael is struggling with his breathing more)

Michael: Take care of them Maxwell. You've been a wonderful brother and a great leader. (Looking from Max to Isabel) I love you both so much.

(Michael is struggling more)

Michael: Say good-bye Maxwell.

Max: Michael.

(Michael collapses from struggling and dies. Then disintegrates in Max's arms) Max: Michael… Michael… No! Michael!

[Scene ends]

(Max and everyone else walk into the Crashdown Maria is rubbing her head)

Jim: Oh good your all back.

Maria: Ouch that hurts a little. Did anyone get the license plate number on that truck?

Max: Not all of us.

Maria: (looking around at the group Maria realizes there is someone missing) Where's Michael?

(Max walks over to Maria and takes her hand)

Max: We fought Kivar we won. But something happened when we were fighting. Michael was thrown off guard......He’s dead Maria.

(Maria releases his hand tears stream down her face)

Maria: You're joking? This is some sick joke right? I know it he is gonna come walking into that door (gets up and points to the door) laughing and saying he got me good and I’m gonna punch him in the arm and where both gonna laugh.
(Maria just stands there shaking)

Maria: Max where is he? He’s not walking through that door.. Max..... MAX where is he?!

(Maria falls to her knees Max kneels down next to her)

Max: He wanted me to tell you that he loved you very much, and that he always has.

Maria: Why Michael? Why?

(Everyone starts crying again Liz kneels next to Maria)

Liz: It will be ok we got through Alex we can get through this.

Maria: NO! (Maria turns into Liz, and just clings there)

Zan: Mommy?

Tess: Oh my god Zan.

(Tess runs over to Zan and picks him up in her arms)

Tess: I thought I lost you

Zan: I don’t know where I went but the light started to fade and I was back in the desert.

Max: The portal must have broken when we killed Kivar.

Zan: I had someone help me.

Tess: Who?

Michael: Me

(Everyone looks up it's Michael standing in the door way a little bruised)

Maria: Michael!

(Maria runs over to Michael and wraps her arms around him and kisses him)

Max: But how?

Michael: Ask the kid.

(Max looks down at Zan)

Zan: Well Kivar once told me I had more powers than all of you and when I saw what happened to him I wanted to use my powers and help. (Looking at Liz) I’m sorry I almost hurt you. (Looking back at everyone else) So when you all left I walked over to Michael's dust and I concentrated really hard and this white light came from my hands and Michael's dust turned into him.

Max: Wow.

(Roswell's theme song starts to play in the background)

Isabel: So it's over. All of it.

Max: I guess so.

Michael: Well I don't know about you but I'm dead tired.

(Everyone starts to laugh)

Zan: Max.... Can you be my daddy?

Max: Well, I can’t be your dad, but I can be a really good friend that will be there for you.

Maria: Let’s go home.

(They all start to walk Tess just stands there)
(Liz walks over to Tess)

Liz: You too.

(Tess and Liz hug Tess smiles. Liz runs back up to Max)

Max: I love you.

Liz: I love you too.

Max: Liz?

Liz: Yeah.

Max: I have a question.

(Max gets on one knee and takes out a ring and puts it on Liz's finger)

Max: Liz?

Liz: Yes!

(They both smile Tess walks up behind them and give them both a hug)

Tess: Congratulations!

(Scene freezes with all of them looking like they’re finally enjoying life)
