In the back of my mind
Only pure happiness
With the thoughts of a child.
Never, I thought,
Will the age ever come
When my carefree playing
Will come to an end.
As the years passed me by
I started thinking back
To the childhood I missed
So many memories I had.
Way back in the day
I treated life so free
Not a bill to pay
Not an image to keep.
Now I sit here staring
Out my window, so high,
Not seeing the trees
Just seeing sights in my mind.
Too much taken for granted
But always in fun
Never stopping to think
Of consequences at hand.
