No Trichs Trigger
Troubleshooting: Questions and Answers

Question: When I push the button on my No Trichs Trigger, I'm not feeling anything. What's wrong?

Answer: It could be that the copper tip has come loose and is not making contact with the internal component. Make sure the black tip piece is screwed on tight and then try hanging onto the barrel of the Trigger and pushing the copper tip against a hard surface. This will re-set the tip into its proper place and it will make contact with the internal component again. If this does not solve the problem, please contact No Trichs at NoTrichs@aol.com for a replacement.

Question: I just got my No Trichs Trigger and when I use it I am getting "zapped" on my fingers through the finger grips. Is my Trigger malfunctioning?

Answer: No, your Trigger is not malfunctioning. A lot of Trigger users have reported getting their fingers "zapped" when they first start using the Trigger. This decreases in the first few weeks of use.

Initially the active pulling site may have a higher electrical resistance than the surrounding tissue. This could be due to the lipid bilayer or natural oils of the scalp being impermeable to ions, and thus is capable of separating charged ions. The bilayer can therefore act as an insulator that can keep the surface charge unbalanced. While the active sites are more electrically insulated, the flow of the Trigger's static charge is forced to take the path of least resistance, which, in the beginning, is the path to your fingers on the finger grips. With continued use the Trigger breaks down this resistance and the electrons will then be more attracted to the scalp.

Try holding the Trigger slightly above the scalp's surface when pushing the button. This seems to help the charge to be attracted to the copper tip and thus to the scalp, rather than to the finger grips.

Question: When I first got my No Trichs Trigger I used it every day and got complete relief from pulling. After a while I started using the Trigger only when I got urges and the pulling started again even while using the Trigger. Why is that?

Answer: Though no one knows for sure what causes TTM, we are learning more about its patterns. One pattern that most agree upon is that TTM urges come in waves. Some are due-to-the-situation waves, some are daily urge waves and other waves can last for months. If you had good results when you were using the Trigger every day, it could be that you were stopping a wave while it was still a small ripple and able to be stopped. Once an urge wave has started, using the Trigger may not be able to stop it, but oftentimes can still decrease it and shorten its duration.

Try using the No Trichs Trigger every day whether you feel you need to or not. After a month or so you may be able to decrease that to using the Trigger every other day. Some users are having success with using the Trigger every third day. But, by being consistent, it seems to lessen the chances of the urges returning. For best results, don't wait for the urges and then use the Trigger. Use the Trigger consistently and if any urge waves do come, they tend to be more of a small ripple.
