STRANGE SCREAMS HEARD NEAR MCGREGOR,MN

WHERE: Near Mcgregor, Minnesota

WHEN: November, 1999

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS: First I want to thank you for your time. First off I have not seen the animal. Like I said I have hunted in Mcgregor area for 15 or so years.I'm a MN native and have spent alot of time in the back woods. I have heard every animal make sounds so im quite familiar with the sounds of the woods. From bear, moose, coyote, owls, and bugs of all sorts. But the sound I heard in Nov. of 99 scared me real bad.

The first two years in this area were ok, but on the third year I was sitting in my deerstand and would start to get a real uneasy feeling. I heard and saw nothing. After an hour or so the feeling would fade. This would go on for the next two years. Every once in awhile I would get the feeling of being watched. This made me feel real uneasy even though I was armed with a high powered rifle. During these times there was not a sound (no bird ,no squirrles,no nothing). At the time I had not really paid much attention to this until much later.

Well, the 1999 deer season started like the rest . Deer signs all over and the usual sounds but I saw none for the week. The second weekend ,Saturday to be exact, I took a new trail into the area I hunt. I was able to ride my four wheeler almost to my stand.I climed in about 2 pm and sat .It got real still just befor dark and i got that real uneasy feeling again. That's when I heard what I can only describe as a scream that made the hair on my whole body stand up. This was unlike anythig I have ever heard in my life. I started to look in the direction it came from but could see nothing. Then I heard it again from what I could tell , the sound was well over 300 yards off. My rifle was no comfort at this point. All I wanted to do was get out off there as fast as I could. I climbed down from my stand and ran to my machine. As I got close to my machine I heard it again. This time there was a growl type sound at the end of the scream. At this point I droped my gloves,of course my good ones. as I started for my machine again, I realized then I had lost my gloves but did not care. I started my machine threw my rifle in its case [without unloading it first] and made real good time back to the truck. To this day I have not been back to that spot. When I drive by that area I get a sick feeling. I do not know what it was nor do I want to see what it was. I dont consider my self as scared of the dark and have spent many nights in the wild, but those sounds scared me so bad that I never ever walk into the woods unarmed anymore. I know this is not the kind of stuff you want to hear ,but I needed to tell someone who will not laugh at me and call me a liar. There is more detail to this, but for now this is enough. I did not mention the land lay out. It was swampy with hardwood high ground. Once again thank you for your time. If you would like to contact me please do so through the message board. I dont want any email about this for now. Thank you
