Hunter Has Strange Encounter In The Woods

WHERE: New Brunswick, Canada.

WHEN: June 2004

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS: I have not toled anyone about what happened to me in the deep woods last spring. Please do not use my name if you should choose to repeat it. It was last June. I went to New Brunswick Canada to hunt spring black bears. I have been a hunter for 22 years and have hunted in the most remote places of Canada and the US and have never seen or heard any thing like this before. I was all alone, about 25 miles from my camp, in a tree stand hunting over a bait can about 14 yards in front of me. The tree stand was about 8 feet off the ground. On the 2nd day of hunting, at about 6:30 AM I heard a rather loud "thump" in front of me. My head was down, but when I looked up I saw nothing. A few seconds later I heard another "thump" but this time I saw that it came from a rock that had landed in front of me. About 15 seconds later a larger rock had flew over my right sholder missing my head by about 5 inches. At this point I started to look all around me thinking that my hunting partner was playing a joke on me, even though he was hunting in another zone 30 miles away. This idea made me a little angry because if he was in my area, he would spoil any chance of bears comming in. I looked with and with out my high powered binoculars but saw no one and nothing. I did notice that the woods became VERY quiet. No birds cherping no sounds of squirels, no birds flying, nothing. Everything had become very still & quiet. I felt like I was being watched. About 10 minuts later I heard fast foot steps comming from the brush about 50 yards to my right, thats when I had my first look at it. At first I thought it was a bear because of its color and hair. I looked through the scope on my rifle and CLEARLY saw that this was no bear. The creature stood about 6 !/2 feet tall, up right on 2 legs, was dark in color, a blakish / dark brown it had hair at least 3 to 4 inches long and moved fast. I never saw its face. The thing ran past me on my right then dissapeared in the thick woods. Moments later I heard a type of scream that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. It was like nothing I ever heard before. It was like a babys cry crossed with an adult mans scream. It was horrible. Frightened out of my skull, I slowly climed out of the tree stand and ran for the road were my truck was parked about 1 1/2 miles away. As I started to run, I heard the scream again this time it was louder. I felt like I was being chased, I quickly turned and fired my rifle ( I didnt see anything or anyone) then kept running. That night, back at camp I insisted that me and my hunting partner go home. He saw that I was shook up and asked me what was wrong. I told him I was very sick and had to leave right away. I left my day pack and tree stand in the woods. I will never go back to New Brunswick Canada again. Whatever I saw in the woods that day did not want me there. I feel that it would have ment me harm if I stayed any longer.
