Bemidji Bigfoot Report Submitted By Mike Quast
Hi Joe:

Very good new reports on your site- I always like to see recent ones from the past few years as opposed to those that say "I saw this ten years ago." Here is a summary of the report I took part in investigating last month, which you can use as you wish:

WHERE: Town Hall Road, north of Bemidji, Minnesota.

WHEN: July, 2001

MIKE QUAST'S REPORT: "I received this report from Curt Nelson of the Bigfoot Field Researchers' Organization (BFRO). He had been in contact with two young women who had had a sighting of a possible sasquatch off Town Hall Road just north of Bemidji in July, 2001. They- accompanied by two men who apparently did not share in the sighting- were checking on an unoccupied trailer home owned by the father of one of the women. As they exited the back of the home they were struck by a sudden strange silence in the air, the usual animal and bird sounds having gone completely quiet. They then heard the sound of brush crashing down in a low swampy area and looked down to see a huge creature standing in the swamp, on two feet and covered with long light brown hair "the color of cardboard." They watched it very briefly as it shook some trees, possibly agitated, then they and the creature simultaneously fled the scene. One of the women said her immediate impression was that it was a Bigfoot, as its head was shaped more humanlike that that of a bear, and because it ran on two legs, moving fast and easily through difficult terrain in the swamp. Myself and a friend went to examine the site on Tuesday, January 7, 2003. The area is near the city of Bemidji but very rural, with scattered homes and patches of woods (much of it evergreens) and wide areas of horse pasture. Horses are ridden in the area as there were many horse tracks on the roads. The scene of the sighting was as described by the witnesses except that the swamp, seen in winter, appears more of a wide open pond up to a hundred yards or so across with small trees along the banks. A game trail lay along the side opposite the house, leading back into some woods where two hunters' tree stands were seen. Tracks of deer and many other smaller animals were in abundance out on the ice and all around the pond, but nothing resembling Bigfoot sign. One further observation- the entire time at the site we were surrounded by excited barking dogs, all but one keeping out of sight but all around us. Further inquiry found that the dogs were not present at the time of the sighting. Curt Nelson has interviewed both witnesses and is convinced of their sincerity. It appears that a sasquatch did most likely put in an appearance at the site, but in my opinion the area is not wild enough for it to be a permanent resident. -Mike Quast
