"Logic Vs. Emotion"
by J'zryn McCorvich

Jzy was about ready to strangle someone, not anyone, just a certain someone. Her anger was mounting, with each step she took. She knew she couldn't go to that debriefing, not like this anyways. It would only take one minor thing to set her temper off and flaring. Even a look of assumed arogance from the Admiral could do it she mused. It really wouldn't take much. How the mission went didn't matter to her her, at least right now. That would change, after she calmed down and logic again took over.

That ever pesky "acceptable loses" theory would pop back up, and Lt. McCorvich would rationalize everything that happened by looking at the greater good. The amount of casualties for this mission ran exceptionally low. They had been off in enemy territory; attacking enemy fighters; and yet, only one casulty was the result. This thought was slowly creeping back into her head, and she found it quit annoying. She hated her logic sometimes. It poped up at the worst times, and seemed so cold and uncaring. Something she absolutely abhored, and the real reason that her temper raging.

This time, though, it wasn't her own cold and uncaring attitude that gnawed at her. It was the Admirals. He had come blasting into sickbay like he owned the place. Okay, maybe he did own it in the sense that he was the Third Fleet Commander, but it was still her sickbay. She dismissed his uncaring attitude towards Jeddin, who was laying half dead, on the Biobed next to the one he was standing at. Jzryn figured that the Admiral was just concerned about the injured agent who would be coming in shortly. But how wrong she was.

Admiral Sankoh didn't care about the Agent that came in with a very series shoulder/chest wound. All he cared about was his blasted information. That was what ticked Jzy off the most. She didn't understand why He couldn't have waited 5 mins for the information, while she checked over Raidan. It wouldn't have taken her long at all to treat Raidan and have her in a condition where the Admiral could get the information he wanted. But no! He wouldn't do that! He didn't care about her health, just some blasted intel.

These thoughts raced through her head, fueling the fire that was burning inside. She almost didn't realize that she had walked into Main Medical. Lucky thing that her feet knew where to take her, as she hadn't paid any attention to where she was going at all. For all she knew she could have walked past ten people who were dying. Well, no, she couldn't have. Even with her anger as it were, some part of her would have heard the screams and would have snaped her out of the semi-trance like state she was in.

Within moments of Jzryn walking into Main Medical, she was flagged down by nurse Lata. Apparently there had been some changes in Jeddin's condition since his return to the station less then 30 mins ago. At this news her anger was temporarily abated. She went over to have a look at the young engineer. He was still unconscious, but his vitals were greatly improved. A smile danced acrossed her face as she knew that he would survive.

"The body is a wonder machine" she mused to herself, "It's capable of so many miracles."

After checking his vitals, Jzy moved over to her office. She had to write up a report about the weapon that was used on Raidan. Even with as angry as she was at the Admiral, he was still the fleet commander and he had still given her orders for this report. It irritated her to no end, but she still had to do it. She was, afterall, an officer in the starfleet. And that meant orders had to be followed whether she liked them or not. There were, of course, rare exceptions to this, like when a patients life was in danger. But even then, the line was very blurred, and not well defined even then. It was a very complex situation, and was never cut and dry. That's what made being a doctor in starfleet intriguing and challenging.
