"Cocky Docky"
Written by Myself and Lt. Commander Po(Character Name)

Alisha tossed and turned in teh back of the shuttle. She had been in this contraption for who knows how long now. She was sure it had been days upon days, the exact number she no longer knew. It wouldn't have been half as bad if that stuck up pilot would let her fly from time to time. She could be practicing her techniques. But oh, no, that wouldn't be allowed. This lousy two-bit Lt. jg was enjoying pulling rank over her. He wouldn't let anyone touch his baby.

At first, Alisha just let it be. She figured He'd HAVE to sleep sometime. But boy she was in for a surprise when He did finally go off to bed after the first 48 hours (she wasn't sure how he was able to stay up that long). She waited patiently (Okay, only 15 mins, but that was a LONG time for her to wait!). After he'd fallen asleep, she climbed into the pilot seat and looked about to take the auto pilot offline. The next thing she knew she was flat on her back looking up at a very disgruntled Lt. He apparently had done some fiddling with the computer to give anyone a shock if they tried to disable the autopilot without the right key or something; and apparently, he had set it up to wake him if the shock went off.

He was so mad when at her when he pulled her up from off the ground. She must have seemed light as a feather to him with the easy that he was able to pick her up and set her down in a chair. He spent the next 2 hours lecturing her on the proper etique. But she only barely heard him, her mind was elsewhere. This was a habit she had picked up/learned when she would be lectured in her youth. It sometimes got her into trouble when it appeared like she wasn't listening. But throughout the years she had also aquired a techique to scan what was being said and respond at the appropriate points. Now it was hard to tell she wasn't listening.

For the next few days after that Ali kept to herself in the back compartment reading up on things. LOTS of things, since she had the time.

Now she was wondering to herself why starfleet couldn't have sent her in a faster ship, and why they felt the need to torment her so badly by sending her off in a slow as heck peice of metal with a stuck up pilot. What had she really done? Okay, so she had almost failed out of the Academy her Junior year, but she had pulled it back in her Senior year, earning a 4.0 that term, and her first two years were exemplary. They couldn't possibly be punishing her for one measly mistake (albeit a mistake that lasted a year, but still).

When Lt. Suck up finally called out that the station would be in range in less then 20 mins, Alisha couldn't believe it. She was more then ready to get off this ship and into her career as a starfleet officer. She was excited enough to even go up front and sit with the pilot, even if he was a prick.

As Lt. Commander Po shook hands, his brow furrowed, "You didn't fly at all?" As he released Ensign Connors' hand he turned to Lt. Harris "This isn't true is it, Lt.?"

The Lt. frowned, seeing the Commanders obvious disregard of rank. He wanted to get off this god for saken station and back his ship, back to where the REAL Starfleet officers were. He had heard about the Atlantis Station and new it was a place where Starfleet sent their worst officers. Now he new why.

He looked at the Commander with distaste. "Yes, Sir, it is true. This is my shuttle Sir. I was assigned to transport this Ensign to this station, not to give flying lessons, or turn my shuttle over to the hands of some--" He stopped. He wasn't sure exactly what to call her, but decided it would probably be best to be somewhat nice. "rookie Sir."

Alisha tried to suppress a smile. She could tell that the Commander liked the Lt. about as much as she did. She was grateful that not all Starfleet officers were like Harris. If they had been, she probably would have given up her commission this very day. She didn't think she could take another 24 hours, or even another hour going through what she'd been through on this trip.

"Your commanding officers name, Lt. Now. Consider yourself on report for violation of Starfleet regulations. Specifically paragraph 3 of article 25 on the standard rotation of pilots on long journeys. Also, I ordered this ensign to dock the shuttle, you disobeyed that order. I need to speak to your commander today." Po was not messing around.

Alisha had to fight hard not to break out laughing. This really made her day. She figured she was really going to like this station, especially if all the officers were like this Commander.

Po's eyes never left the Lt. while he held his hand out to the Ensign for her orders as he waited for the information he wanted from them both.

Harris' jaw dropped. Who was this officer to speak to him like he did. "Sir, I did not violate any regulations. The Autopilot was on most of the way. I got more then enough rest and nutrients Sir."

Alisha immediately handed over her orders to Po, while she listened to the Lt.'s response. She knew he wouldn't take to kindly to this.

"As far as who my CO is Sir, You can easily just look that up. Just look up information on the USS Trinidad. I'm surprised you don't know who he is Sir. He is a very well respect Captain on the best ship in the fleet."

Po raised one brow at the Lt. before quickly scanning the ensigns orders, what he saw ticked him off worse than he already was at this arrogant twit. The man's last remark was too far over the line though, he stood up straight, and in his most lowering voice said, "Lt. Harris, At Attention this minute!"

Harris couldn't help but show just how disgusted he was with Lt. Commander Po. He just got more disgruntled, as he had never left the position of attention, and didn't understand why the Commander didn't see that. But He was wise enough not to make any remark to that matter and just stood their silently, seething.

Po got into the man's face, he'd had enough of this type of officer on his last assignment, "Lt. Look at my collar and tell me what rank you see."

Alisha just watched the scene with great interest. She knew it wasn't right that she should take such delight from someone who was getting into a lot of trouble, but she couldn't help herself. The Lt. defiantly earned this. She tried hard not to show too much delight, though she couldn't keep the smile off her face.

Without taking his eyes off of the commanders face, the Lt. responded in a very forced manner, "Lt. Commander, Sir."

"Good, your eyesight seems to be 20/20. Now read what this says," He shoved Alisha's orders in the man's face, inches from his nose, it was at the point where it talked about her pilot training and what position she would assume on arrival to the station.

Harris couldn't wait to get off this hell hole that they were calling a station. He couldn't wait to get back to a more civilized place, where they knew how to treat the talented officers. As soon as he got back to the Trinidad, he was going to file a complaint against the abuse that the Commander was giving him.

He tried to make out what was on the PADD, but couldn't as it was shoved to close to his eyes. "I can't read that . . . Sir"

Po backed it up a few inches, probably just far enough to make it clear. Harris read over the information, and nonchalantly replied. "Lt. says that she is to be a pilot on this station."; He didn't comment on anything else that he read, it mattered not what her training was. There was no way that she was a better pilot then he was, and there was no way that he would let an inferior pilot ever control one of HIS shuttles, not while He was around.

Po jabbed at the PADD again, "And does it say anything at all about how good of a pilot she is?"

"She is an ensign, fresh out of the academy Sir. And one who barely made it through I hear. How good of a pilot could she be Sir?" He didn't understand why the Commander didn't see the facts that were out there plain as day. Anyone could see that Alisha was just another bad seed in Starfleet.

Po growled, obviously this twit thought he was superior to anyone and everyone and he'd never get through to him. "Lt. you said that you can see that my pips say that I'm a Lt. Commander. A superior officer to you. Yet you have refused to heed my order for this ensign to dock the shuttle, you willfully disobeyed Starfleet regs while in transit of one of my officers, and you have refused to answer a direct question from a superior officer. Now, do you want to find yourself in the brig or do you want to tell me your commanding officers name right now?"

Alisha wondered how the Lt. had made it this far in Starfleet when he obviously didn't have any respect for his superiors. She just didn't understand the guy.

"Captain Harken Sir." Lt. Harris responded, his anger very evident. Even he could tell that he crossed over the line at this point, well, at least he could tell that he wouldn't get off this bucket of bolts if he didn't change his attitude a little bit.

Po nodded and finally backed away from the arrogant horses rear end. "You have the choice of staying on your shuttle or being assigned quarters to stay confined to until I speak with Captain Harken personally." With that he turned to Conners, "Ensign, I know you just arrived, but I want you to take this shuttle," he made a point of specifying Harris's shuttle, "out from the station three hundred kilometers and then redock it. Either the Lt. or I will go with you, his choice." There, that ought to really tick the guy off.

Harris knew he hadn't violated a Starfleet regulations. He had split his time flying between himself and the autopilot. He also hadn't really disobeyed the Commanders orders. The Commander had been talking to Ensign Connors. She didn't say one word to him about being told that she, herself, was to land the shuttle. Therefore, if anyone disobeyed the orders it was her, not himself.

"Sir!" Lt. Harris stopped there. He was about to berate the Commander for commandeering his shuttle, but realized that this jerk was just going to do what he wanted, and try to make trouble for him. He knew that his CO would understand, and that his CO wouldn't blame him. He grumbled, "you can go with Sir." Then he slipped in almost inaudibly under his breath, "I'm not gonna risk my life."

Alisha sighed in relief. She did NOT want to have to fly the shuttle with that crazy Lt. hovering over her and complaining about every little thing she did. She wasn't sure how intimidating it was going to be to have the Lt. Commander there with her, but she knew it would be a lot easier and less stressful.

Po nodded, then tapped his commbadge and spoke to the quartermaster. The quartermaster seemed quite surprised at the quarters the Lt. Commander had ordered for the visiting Lt. and started to say that those quarters didn't even have a working shower much less a replicator or even a bed. Po cut him off and so he could do nothing but make the arrangements. Dismissing Harris, Po headed into the shuttle, assuming the ensign would follow.

Harris just stood there. He didn't want any quarters, He would have preferred to stay on HIS shuttle. He couldn't even think of anything to stay as Po and Connors walked back into the shuttle and the doors closed behind them. He just stood there looking on in distaste.

After following the Commander into the shuttle, Alisha made her way to the pilots seat, and then turned and looked at the controls.

"Um, Sir." She remembered the last time she had tried to touch the controls. In fact, it had been the ONLY time she had tried. The memory of the shock was still fresh in her mind. Alisha turned and looked at the Lt. Commander.

"Yes, ensign?" Po said as he sat in the copilot's seat.

"The last time I touched the controls to . . . uh . . try to fly the shuttle, I got hit with a nasty shock and landed on my back Sir." Alisha looked at the controls, somewhat embarrassed. "I had tried to take the shuttle out of autopilot while Lt. Harris slept Sir."

Po growled, then tapped his commbadge, "Lt. Harris, is this ship rigged to shock the pilot?"

Having regained his ability to move and speak, Lt. Harris, marched off to find these so called quarters he had been temporarily assigned. He knew they would be crappy, probably like the rest of the station was. Upon hearing the Commanders voice, he tapped his commbadge, and indignantly replied, "Of course not Sir!" He grumbled and wondered what other false lies he was going to be charged with. He continued on to his quarters.

"Lt. I'm going to sit in the helm seat, are you sure there is nothing I need to know?"

"I'm positive Sir." He replied, seething with anger at the continued onslaught of slander and disrespect he was receiving.

Po stood up, waved the ensign back and sat in the pilots chair. Alisha, stood up and moved as Po instructed. She didn't think the Lt. would allow the Commander to be shocked, but then again, she had never run into anyone as rude or cocky as he was either. She sat down in the co pilots chair and watched.

Harris finally found his quarters and looked in. As he expected they were crappy. He went in and sat down on the bed, if one could call it that.

Po nodded, and was satisfied that there was nothing amiss here, he stood again, "Your seat, ensign." Blushing, even more embarrassed at having been worried and even having mentioned it to Po, she silently took the seat again. Po retook the copilot seat.

Alisha smiled and looked down at the controls. She missed flying. Having had to spend the entire trip with Harris was horrible, and not being able to fly just compounded the misery. She gently traced her hands over the controls, getting adjusted to where they were. She turned and looked at the Commander, smiling, "May I have permission to depart the station Sir?"

Po smiled, "This is your show, ensign, I'm just observing our new Pilot. You'll have to call Main Ops for clearance."

She nodded, "yes Sir." Her hands flew over the control panel almost as if they were apart of it. "Shuttle Imperator to Atlantis Station Operations. Request permission to depart."

Michaels was surprised by the request, but he quickly checked the space around them and said, "All clear, Shuttle Imperator. Depart when ready."

"Understood." Her hands just danced over the panel as she slowly departed Landing Pad A, heading out beyond the station to 300 kilometers. Po nodded and watched her fly.

She smiled as the shuttle instantly and smoothly obeyed her every command, then turned and looked at the commander. "Shall I proceed to dock Sir? Or is there some place you'd like to go Sir?" She looked out and scanned the image on the view screen. "The whole universe is at your finger tips when you're in the pilots seat Sir. Makes you feel so free."

Po smiled, he understood that feeling. "Don't worry, I wont have you test the Muntz Field today. Go ahead and dock again.",br>

She chuckled softly, "As You wish Sir."; She knew that requesting permission to dock again was going to make the person up in Ops start to wonder what was going on down here. At least the Commander was here to respond if He got uptight about her landing, after having departed such a short time ago. It still felt a little odd to her though. "Shuttle Imperator to Atlantis Station Operations. Permission to Dock?"

Michaels again gave a startled look, and made the necessary checks, "Permission granted, docking pad A again."

"Acknowledged, Docking Pad A." She chuckled and smoothly docked the shuttle right back where it had just been. Then she turned and looked at the Commander. "I guess I should request Permission to come on board Sir." Alisha said with a sly smile.

Po nodded, then smiled, "Good job, ensign. I see no reason you shouldn't have been flying on the way here. I'll be sure to note that in the report on Harris. Oh, and welcome aboard Atlantis Station." He held out his hand again in a friendly gesture.

She smiled as she shook his hand. "Thank You Sir. I'm so glad to finally be here Sir!"

Po grinned, "Yeah? Well, when you see the shape everything is in, you might regret those words." He stood up and made to exit the shuttle, "The quartermaster will give you your quarters assignment. Then I'll expect you in Main Ops for the first shift in the morning."

Alisha followed him out. "Sir, after spending the amount of time trapped in that shuttle, unable to fly, with Lt. Harris. ANYTHING has got to better Sir!"
