The mission of the Edna Hospital is to provide urgently needed health care facilities in Somaliland and trained nurses and midwives.

The main causes of death are health-related:

• There is high infant mortality rate: 1 in 8 babies die before the age of 12 months
• Every year nearly 4, 000 Somali women die in childbirth
• One in 5 children die before the age of five
• Life expectancy is only 48 years
