Welcome to the exciting world of Cub Scouts! You will learn new skills, make new friends, learn new games, make crafts, go on field trips and have a lot of fun being a Wolf Cub Scout! Wolf Cubs are boys who are in 2nd grade and have completed the Bobcat Badge requirement. Dens consist of 6 to 8 boys and are led by a Den Leader and an Assistant Den Leader. Den Meetings are held at least twice a month. The Wolf program is not a one-on-one adult/child program like the Tiger Cub program, but the family is encouraged to take an active part in the Den and the Pack as well. Den Leaders need lots of help to make sure that you and your son have the best program possible. Talk with your Den Leader about what you can do for the Den!
Now that you are a Wolf Cub you can begin work on the Wolf Trail in your Wolf Handbook. There are 12 Achievements to finish before you earn your Wolf Badge. They are:
1. Feats of Skill
2. Your Flag
3. Keep Your Body Healthy
4. Know your Home and Community
5. Tools for Fixing and Building
6. Start a Collection
7. Your Living World
8. Coking and Eating
9. Be Safe at Home and on the Street
10. Family Fun
11. Duty to God
12. Making Choices
Along with the other boys in your Den you will be working on Achievements both at home and at Den Meetings. There are also 21 Elective Achievements you can do to earn Arrow Points. The Arrow Point Trail is in the back half of your Wolf Handbook. For the first 10 Arrow Point Achievements you complete, you earn a Gold Arrow Point. After you have earned your Gold Arrow Point, for every 10 Arrow Point Achievements you complete, you earn a Silver Arrow Point. Make sure you keep track of your completed Achievements by filling in the tracks and arrows in the back of your Handbook and by having Akela (your Den Leader or your Parents) sign off in your completed Achievement sections.
Your Den Leader may award you with a Progress Toward Ranks Badge when you have completed 3 of the Wolf Trail Achievements. This badge is worn on the right pocket of your uniform, and has a yellow bead attached to it. You earn a yellow bead for every 3 Wolf Achievements you complete. When you have 4 yellow beads, you can receive your Wolf Badge!

You can also earn Sports and Academics Beltloop and Pins. Ask your Den Leader for the requirements for these awards.

Now that you are a Cub Scout, you will be required to wear the Cub Scout Uniform! Here's what you'll need:
Dark Blue Cub Scouts shirt (long or short sleeved, your choice)
Blue and Gold Neckerchief (given to you by the Pack)
A Neckerchief slide
These are the bare minimum. You can also purchase a Cub Scout belt (handy for holding all those Beltloops you'll earn!), a Cub Scouts hat, slacks, shorts and even socks!
And you'll need the appropriate patches. You need:
The World Crest Patch
Your Den Numbers (such as, Den 9)
Your Pack Numbers (3,6 and 2!)
The Northern Star Council shoulder patch
Mom or Dad needs to sew these on, (Hey Mom or Dad, don't iron them on, you'll never get them off!) You will be given the other patches the Pack earns occasionally, such as the Quality Unit patch, or the 25 year patch. Of course the badges you earn are awarded to you at Pack Meetings, don't buy those, they're FREE! Hey, Free is GOOD!
Now you should have everything you need. Remember, you won't be given any awards at Pack Meetings unless you are wearing your uniform, so make sure you wear it to EVERY Pack Meeting!
