Welcome to Webelos Scouts! Get set for fun and adventure! As a Webelos Scout, you'll explore adult careers and learn alot of new skills. You'll go camping with your Den, along with your adult relative or friend. Everything in Webelos Scouting is more advanced and challenging than the activities younger Scouts do. You'll earn special badges that only Webelos Scouts can wear. At the same time, you'll be getting ready to become a Boy Scout.
Advancement in Webelos Scouting means growing in knowledge and skills, and you do this through all the experiences that lead to earning activity badges and other awards. This moves you upward long the trail to Webelos Scouting's highest award, the Arrow Of Light. By that time, you'll be close to joining a Boy Scout Troop. You'll do a lot of your badge work with your Den and some of it at home.
In Webelos scouting there are 20 possible Activity badges. You can earn as many as you can, or all 20 if you work hard! Activity badges are colorful metal emblems you pin on your Webelos cap, or you can pin them to your Webelos colors, which are gold, green and red ribbons you wear on your right sleeve.

As soon as you start earning activity badges, you can look forward to earning your Webelos badge. As you earn it, you'll learn alot about Webelos Scouting and Boy Scouting. As part of your Webelos badge work, you need to earn three activity badges, each one from a different activity badge 'group'. One of the badges MUST be Fitness, from the Physical Skills group. The other two badges may be from two of the other four groups. The other groups are: Mental Skills, Community, Technology and the Outdoors. You wear the Webelos badge on your left shirt pocket.

The BSA has adopted a new Webelos badge to be worn with the tan uniform. They would like the boys to wear this new badge, but you can still choose to wear the 'old' badge and complete your 'diamond' on the left pocket of your uniform. If you choose the new badge, it is worn alone, in the center of the left pocket. No arrow points are worn below. See the new badge above.
The Compass Points Emblem is awarded after you ahve earned the Webelos Badge and four additional activity badges, for a total of seven. After you receive the emblem, you'll add a metal 'Compass Point' to it for each additional four activity badges you earn. The emblem hangs from your right shirt pocket.

The Arrow of Light is the highest rank in Cub Scouting. It's more challenging to earn than the Webelos badge, but you can do it! First you need to earn the Webelos badge. You need a total of eight activity badges, including Citizen, Readyman and Fitness. The total must include at least one badge from each of the five activity badge groups. You'll wear the Arrow of Light Award on your left shirt pocket flap. It's the only badge you can take with you on your uniform to the Boy Scouts.

You Webelos uniform consists of a tan shirt (long or short sleeves, your choice), a plaid neckerchief (provided to you by the Pack), your neckerchief slide, a hat or Webelos Colors to pin your Activity Pins on, a belt for all those beltloops you'll earn, and the proper patches for our Pack...
You can buy your uniform and patches at the Twin Cities Scout Shop located on County Road 10 (next to the Mermaid), in Moundsview or at the Northern Star Council Headquarters Scout Shop located in Minneapolis at Hwy 100 and Glenwood Ave.
