Bear Cubs





The Bear Rank is alot like the Wolf Rank, but the achievements are a little more involved and allows you many more choices. The Bear Handbook has 24 Achievements to choose from. You have to complete 12 Achievements that you choose from four different groups. You need to complete:

4. Tall Tales
5. Sharing your World with Wildlife
6. Taking Care of Your Planet
7. Law Enforcement Is A Big Job

Family (Do four)
8. The Past Is Exciting And Important
9. What's Cooking
10. Family Fun
11. Be Ready
12. Family Outdoor Adventures
13. Saving Well, Spending Well

Self (Do four)
14. Ride Right
15. Games, Games, Games
16. Building Muscles
17. Information, Please
18. Jot It Down
19. Shavings an Chips
20. Sawdust and Nails
21. Building A Model
22. Tying It All Up
23. Sports, Sports, Sports
24. Be A Leader

When you have done 12 Achievements you become a Bear Cub Scout. You will get your Bear badge at your Pack Meeting. Also, you can count any extra Achievements that you have not used for your Bear requirements as Arrow Point credits! The Arrow Point Trail is in the back half of your Bear Handbook. For the first 10 Arrow Point electives you complete, you earn a gold Arrow Point. For every 10 Arrow Point Electives after that, you earn a Silver Arrow Point.




The Bear Uniform


The Bear Uniform consists of a dark blue shirt, light blue and dark blue neckerchief, a neckerchief slide, and the correct patches:

  • American Flag (included on your uniform)
  • Northern Star Council Patch
  • World Crest
  • Pack Numbers 3,6,2
  • Any badges you earned while in Tiger and Wolf Cubs
  • Pack patches are given to you by the Pack eg., Quality Unit, 25 year patch, etc. These are free!

    You can also buy the matching pants or shorts, a hat, and even socks! You can purchase your uniform at the Twin Cities Scout Shop, located on County Road 10 (next to the Mermaid)in Moundsview, or the BSA Headquaters Scout Shop located at the intersection of Hwy 100 and Glenwood Ave., in Minneapolis. The Pack provides your neckerchief and Handbook, but you'll need to buy a neckerchief slide.
