Please stand in solidarity with your colleagues at Sanaa University and other universities in Yemen. Demand that MESA pays attention to the plight and suffering of Yemeni professors. Encourage other colleagues to take a stand and refrain from dealing with the Yemeni government so long as it is abusing academic freedom. Write letters or sign petitions to Field Marshal Ali Abdullah Saleh, President of Yemen, demanding that the Yemeni government:

• Remove the political security apparatus (mukhabarat) from Sanaa University and other campuses across the country.
• Stop spying on professors and students in the classrooms.
• Stop taping telephone conversations of faculty members and cease opening their mails.
• Stop appointing members of the mukhabarat as college administrators and government watchdogs.
• Stop using pressures to admit government loyalists to colleges without the required secondary school diploma.
• Stop confusing the tribal law with the modern law of higher education. Respect the integrity of the institution, and respect the academic criteria of seniority, tenureship, and achievement.
• Put an end to the practice of harassment and intimidation of female students.
