• First Round Match: Mankind defeated Dwayne Gill via Pinfall.
-Vince McMahon made his way down. He introduced Mankind and gave a long,
formal introduction to Dwayne Gill. McMahon highlighted Gill's wrestling
history, and said he was a coach of the Pasadena Chargers (apparently a
school football team). Mankind easily finished off Dwayne Gill within a
minute. Jim Ross said that we finally figured out the conspiracy - that
Mankind was McMahon's pick for the tournament.
• Backstage, Kevin Kelly interviewed Sable.
Sable said the only thing
Jacqueline did to her on Sunday Night Heat was piss her off. She
guaranteed she would defeat Jacqueline later in the show to become the
new Women's Champion.
• First Round Match: Al Snow defeated Jeff Jarrett (w/Debra McMichael)
via Pinfall.
-As the match went on, Debra McMichael got involved, but was unable to
help out Jeff Jarrett. Al Snow nailed Jarrett with The Head to make the
pin. Snow would meet Mankind in the Quarter-Finals of the 16-Man
Heavyweight Title Tournament.
• Backstage, Dok Hendrix briefly interviewed Ken Shamrock at the WWF
Hotline location.
Shamrock talked about 16-Man Heavyweight Title
Tournament.
• First Round Match: Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated The Big Bossman by
Disqualification.
-Vince McMahon and his associates watched the match in their locker
room. The Big Bossman was a very powerful opponent for Stone Cold Steve
Austin. As the physical match went on, The Big Bossman began to use his
nightstick on Austin. Bossman was disqualified. He continued to attack
Austin with the nightstick. Jim Ross said Bossman would probably get a
big bonus for the job he was supposed to do (take out Austin).
• Backstage, Michael Cole interviewed Vince McMahon.
McMahon said,
"there was more where that came from. The night is still young."
• First Round Match: X-Pac vs. Stephen Regal resulted in a Double
Elimination.
-Vince McMahon and his associates watched the match from their locker
room. X-Pac and Stephen Regal wrestled a long match, and ran to a Time
Limit Draw (10 minutes). Vince McMahon had Commissoner Slaughter run
down to declare that the match would continue. The match couldn't
continue, however, because X-Pac was severely injured. Stone Cold Steve
Austin would get a bye and go onto the Semi-Finals. Vince McMahon was
very upset that Austin would get a bye.
• First Round Match: Ken Shamrock defeated Goldust by making him submit
to the Ankle Lock.
-Goldust put up a tought fight for Ken Shamrock. But once he was
strapped in Shamrock's Ankle Lock, he submitted.
• Backstage, Michael Cole gave an update on Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Cole said Austin would be able to continue in the 16-Man Heavyweight
Title Tournament.
• First Round Match: The Rock defeated The Big Bossman via Pinfall.
-Gerald Brisco made his way in, and said Hunter Hearst Helmsley was not
in the building. Helmsley would not wrestle, after he was supposedly
contacted weeks before by Vince McMahon. Brisco said Helmsley would be
fined once he returned. The Rock said he made sure he would have an
opponent incase Helmsley no-showed. He introduced The Big Bossman, and
pinned Bossman in four seconds (new record). The Rock would take on Ken
Shamrock in the Quarter-Finals.
• Quarter-Finals Match: The Undertaker (w/Paul Bearer) defeated Kane
with the Tombstone.
-The Undertaker and Kane wrestled a long match. Kane had the win with a
Chokeslam, but was distracted by Paul Bearer. The Undertaker nailed Kane
with the Tombstone. He made the pin with Bearer holding onto Kane's
foot. Kane took out the referee afterward.
• Quarter-Finals Match: Mankind defeated Al Snow by making him submit to
the Mandible Claw.
-Vince McMahon and his associates watched the match backstage. Mankind
finally found Mr. Socko, which was wrapped around The Head. Mankind put
on Mr. Socko, and stuck his fingers down the throat of Al Snow. Snow
tried to fight out of the submission hold, but eventually submitted.
Mankind would go onto the Semi-Finals to take on Stone Cold Steve
Austin.
• Quarter-Finals Match: The Rock defeated Ken Shamrock via Pinfall.
-The Big Bossman made his way in as The Rock and Ken Shamrock wrestled.
Both superstars were able to get out of each other's finishing maneuvers
when they were executed. The Big Bossman distracted the referee and
threw in the nightstick to Shamrock. The Rock intercepted the
nightstick, however, and clocked Shamrock with it. Rock made the pin,
and would go onto to the Semi-Finals to take on The Undertaker.
• Backstage, Michael Cole interviewed Paul Bearer.
Bearer basically cut
a promo, as he said The Undertaker would become the Heavyweight
Champion.
• Sable defeated Jacqueline (w/Marc Mero) with the Sable Bomb to become
the new Women's Champion.
-Shane McMahon refereed the match. At one point, Sable delivered the
Sable Bomb to Marc Mero on the floor that was outside of the ring. After
Sable countered Jacqueline's Tornado DDT, she hit yet another Sable
Bomb. Sable secured the pin to become the new WWF Women's Champion.
• Semi-Finals Match: Mankind defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin via
Pinfall.
-Vince McMahon and his associates had their ringside seats. Stone Cold
Steve Austin and Mankind wrestled a close match. Austin nailed the Stone
Cold Stunner, but McMahon pulled out the referee and began to beat up on
him. Mankind put the Mandible Claw on Austin, but Austin countered with
another Stone Cold Stunner. Referee. Shane McMahon ran down but wouldn't
make the pin. He flipped off Austin and was on his dad's side the entire
time. Gerald Brisco ran into the ring, and hit Austin on the head with a
chair. Mankind made the pin, with Shane doing the counting, and would go
onto the Finals. The McMahon's and the associates took off in their
limousine. Austin got into a car and chased after them.
• Semi-Finals Match: The Rock defeated The Undertaker (w/Paul Bearer) by
Disqualification.
-The Big Bossman was at ringside. As The Rock went for the People's
Elbow, Big Bossman held onto his legs. Kane came into the ring, and
attacked The Rock. The Rock took the victory by Disqualification. Kane
and The Undertaker brawled throughout the crowd. The Rock would take on
Mankind in the Finals of the WWF Heavyweight Title Tournament.
• Backstage, Michael Cole interviewed Mankind.
Mankind said, "Do you
smell what the sock is cookin'?"
• The New Age Outlaws defeated The Headbangers and D-Lo Brown and Mark
Henry, to retain the Tag Team Titles.
-Before the match, The New Age Outlaws did their introduction and
promised they would retain the Tag Team Titles. It was a very unique
Triple Threat-Tag Team Title match. After Billy Gunn was finally tagged
in, he nailed D-Lo Brown with a Piledriver, to let The New Age Outlaws
retain the Tag Team Titles.
• Finals: The Rock defeated Mankind by making submit to the
Sharpshooter,
-Before the match, Vince and Shane McMahon, along with The Big Bossman,
were shown talking backstage. Apparently, they were still inside the
Keil Center. They later made their ways down to the ring, and were
whispering to each other throughout the match. Mankind and The Rock took
several chair shots. Jim Ross said that referee, Earl Hebner had orders
that there would be no disqualifications or count-outs. The Rock and
Mankind used the commentating tables to wear down each other. The Rock
put Mankind in the Sharpshooter, and the referee was told to immediately
ring the bell. The Rock became the new WWF Heavyweight Champion. The
Rock hugged Vince and Shane McMahon, and was in on it with them the
entire time. Vince McMahon said no one was stupid as Mankind. He
insulted Stone Cold Steve Austin. He congratulated The Rock and said it
was an Academy Award performance for Shane. Shane said he was like his
dad afterall. Mankind said he didn't get it. McMahon said for Mankind to
"get this," as The Rock attacked Mankind. The McMahon's and The Rock
celebrated. Stone Cold Steve Austin ran-in. He stunned The Rock and then
Mankind.
