Sable introduced Vince McMahon, who went on to give a speech about how the fans will be disappointed when Kane wins the Title. Pat Patterson patted Sable on the butt, which drew a slap from her.
Ken Shamrock defeated "Double J" Jeff Jarrett via ankle lock submission. Shamrock advanced to the final tournament match.
Rocky Maivia beat Dan Severn by pinfall due to interference by D-Lo Brown. Brown came into the ring wearing some kind of chest protector, which he wore as he delivered a Frog Splash off the top. Maivia advanced to face Shamrock in the tournament final.
Too Much beat Al Snow and the Head. Jerry Lawler was the special referee. Snow tagged the Head in late in the match, which allowed Brian Christopher to attach a bottle of "Head and Shoulders" shampoo and cover it for the pin. Snow is now supposed to leave the WWF due to the stipulations of the match.
X-Pac pinned Owen Hart after he was DDT'ed by Chyna. Mark Henry and Vader were also involved in the match, fighting on the outside of the ring, distracting the ref as Chyna delivered the DDT.
Paul Bearer gave a speech in the ring about his son Kane winning the Title.
The New Age Outlaws beat the New Midnight Express. Chyna gave Jim Cornette a low blow when he tried to interfere. The Express had their NWA Tag Team Titles, though it was the Outlaws' WWF Tag Team Titles which were on the line.
Ken Shamrock beat Rocky Maivia to become the 1998 King of the Ring. Hunter Hearst Helmsley was at ringside for color commentary, but did not involve himself other than a brief verbal exchange with Maivia (during which he spit water on the Rock). Maivia submitted to the ankle lock.
The Undertaker destroyed Mankind in the "Hell in a Cell" match. Mankind climbed to the top of the cage before the start of the match. The Undertaker followed after he came out and the two fought their way across the top of the cage (almost falling through at one point as part of the roof started to cave in). Barely a minute into the match the Undertaker threw Mankind off the cage! Mankind smashed through the Spanish announcer's table. The match was immediately stopped as Terry Funk, Vince McMahon, assorted referees and officials and paramedics came out to help Mankind. The cage was lifted (with the Undertaker still on the top) to allow them to wheel Mankind away on a stretcher. Halfway down the aisle Mankind left the stretcher and went back to the ring, restarting the match. The battle continued on the roof of the cage, where the Undertaker chokeslammed Mankind completely through the roof, all the way to the ring below! The match was again halted as officials checked over Mankind. The Undertaker dropped down (hurting his already injured ankle) and chokeslammed Terry Funk. He and Mankind then continued to fight. A few minutes later Mankind, after he had gained the upper hand--somehow, retrieved a bag from underneath the ring. Out of the bag came several handfuls of THUMBTACKS! The match continued on the bed of thumbtacks, with Mankind being back bodydropped and chokeslammed on them before the Undertaker was finally able to cover for the three count. Mankind, bleeding from several places, refused to be stretchered out and walked out with the help of Funk and a referee.
Kane defeated "Stone Cold" Steve Austin to win the WWF World Heavyweight Title by drawing "First Blood". Austin was cut on the back early in the match by a thumbtack, but this was ruled to be insignificant. Austin was nearly crushed as "someone" lowered the cage early in the match. Near the end Mankind came to the ring with a chair, but Austin fought him off. The Undertaker then came out and lined up a chair shot on Mankind, but hit Austin instead. Austin was "busted open", bleeding severely from the forehead. The Undertaker then poured gasoline on the referee (who had been knocked out a bit earlier). Kane nailed the Undertaker with a chair. Austin then laid out Kane, but the referee recovered, saw the blood on Austin and declared Kane the winner and new World Heavyweight Champion. Vince McMahon was shown smiling, watching the match from the safety of his luxury box seat.
