What does Hulk Hogan's retirement mean to WCW? Who steps up to the plate now and who is in control?

It was common knowledge that the Hulkster had vice-grip like control over how things developed in WCW. With him gone who will assume that awesome power?

Kevin Nash.

Unfortunately, yes. When the book was taken out of Hogan's hands it was placed into the greedy hands of another. Kevin Nash now holds the direction of WCW. He can make almost anything happen with a nod or scribbling of a pen. How does this effect WCW and certain wrestlers inside WCW? I will attempt to speculate.

WCW: Not a good move by Bischoff putting Nash in charge of booking. Let's look at recent history for an example. When Kevin Nash was given pretty much full creative control over his character Diesel in the WWF he drove business into the ground. His selfishness and blatant favortism towards his friends, such as Konnan, is not a good sign for fans or for WCW.

Konnan, Hall, and DDP: These buddies of Nash are surely licking their fingers, especially DDP, who is also a booker now. As soon as Nash was given control he immediately reconciled with Hall and gave Konnan the TV title. What more proof do you need?

Bret Hart: Two words...FUCKED OVER. Hart is in trouble. While he may have the US title, how much does that title REALLY mean? Literally nothing. Kevin Nash is not a fan of Bret Hart in the least. Shawn Michaels and Hart have serious issues with each other and Nash and Michaels are VERY good friends. Shawn Michaels will be the one smiling as he externally is still screwing up the Hitman. Hart might get a title shot or two, perhaps even headline a PPV. But do NOT expect him to capture the title. He will slowly be faded into a permanent US and TV title contender and out of main-event status. He won't become a jobber, simply because Bischoff is paying him too much.

Lex Luger and Sting: Don't expect too much out of these two guys in the future. Sting and Lex are decent but not great friends of Nash. Nash definitely won't be jobbing to them. Sting and Lex will always be big names but Nash won't take the spotlight off himself long enough to give them any legitimacy.

Essentially, WCW got rid of problem #1 in Hogan but replaced him with another tyrannical booker who will use all his power to help his friends and himself. WCW needs some serious revamping of egos and the taking of the book out of the hands of a couple greedy wrestlers. You don't see much problem in the WWF because McMahon runs a tight ship. And really, is there any question who should be jobbing in the WWF? Obviously, Austin is more over than anyone and jobbing should only be done to further an angle and to get more heat. WCW you have tons of people who are "over" but not one that stands out. This will become an increasing problem in the future and look for some serious shakeups to happen in WCW. Lots of feelings and egos will be hurt and bruised.

Comments are welcome.
