Forever Annoyed #2

With the number of hits this site gets a day I was surprised to only receive 1 e-mail in response to my first column. Give me some feedback so I can get a feel for what the masses think. I'll respond to all of your comments, even the mindless ones. :)

Now...on with the show. Didn't watch Road Wild. In fact, I've been avoiding the Tonight Show because I really didn't want to see the skits done by Leno and Hogan. I think by Monday it will be safe to resume my TV practice of catching Leno nightly. I must admit though, from the responses that I saw from various people and the results that I read, it didn't seem like an absolutely garbage show. Obviously, it was no Heatwave or King of the Ring, but for a WCW PPV, headlined by a celebrity, it seemed like they did a decent job. By reading the results I missed something that, when brought to my attention, absolutely blew my mind. NO DQ's on the ENTIRE show! Either Bischoff is beginning to understand how to run a quality show or a group of muscle-bound bikers with beards to their knees inspired Bischoff's masculine side enough to impress us with no DQ's. Kudos for dropping the Steiner match also. I know Scott was injured but I didn't even want to READ the results to that garbage match. Quick Hint: Find another excuse and drop the feud altogether...as well as both the Steiner's contracts.

As I've been scouring the Internet for wrestling news the last few days I've seen some interesting things. The Sandman story was blown TOTALLY out of proportion and generated massive hysteria on the newsboards. But what really caught my attention was the Jericho and Benoit contractual situation. Jericho, who stated earlier that he was NOT going to re-sign with WCW, has apparently been satisfied enough with his recent push to change his mind. I've never been a huge Jericho fan, but he's got talent. I'd much rather see him in the WWF where he could legitimately get over with his mic work alone. However, he is probably going to get a hefty raise and the position of #1 cruiserweight in the federation. The Benoit situation has me pumped a bit. Apparently he is leaning towards NOT re-signing with WCW. Woohoo! Do you blame him? I sure as hell wouldn't want to work for a federation where the booker of my matches has a personal vendetta against me because I gave his wife headboard concussions. He could provide some great matches in the WWF and could be an IC title contender. Should he go ECW, as Paul Heyman prays, then he would immediately become an impact player and main-eventer. The money won't be there though, in comparison to the Big 2. I've always believed that you go to the place where you can blossom the most and become a fixture in the business and THEN the monetary part will take care of itself. Wherever Benoit decides to go, whether it be WWF, ECW, or even Japan, he won't be hard up for cash, I can promise you that.

Someone out there isn't giving anything up when it comes to the Flair situation. There is no way that NO ONE knows where he is likely to end up. Don't give me these 50/50 odds bullshit. Flair going back to WCW will be a lackluster end to a brilliant career. The 4 Horsemen will be over huge. Too huge. Hogan won't like it, therefore it won't be. And yet, that is only something that COULD happen, and most likely will if he returns to Hogan-Land. There is something else that could happen. It is so good that it is almost too good to be true. He could make a triumphant return and be "The Man" again. Well, almost. He would obviously feud with Austin as McMahon's "Corporate Champion". This would be a monstrous feud where the matches would be decent but the entertainment value would be excellent. I can just imagine the microphone work done by both Austin and Flair. Incredible. This could be THE feud that puts Austin over to the next level, a level where no one since Hogan in the 80's has even come CLOSE to approaching. The choice, however, is not ours to make. The choice is that of Richard Fliehr, 49, of the state of North Carolina. Make the right choice Ric.
