I dedicate this site to my loving wife Stephanie, who has always been there to pick me up, mentally or physically. I also dedicate it to all the porphyrian's. The Porphyria Onelist is a group of about 50 or so members. We help each other when someone experiences unusual symptoms, or when we get discouraged or depressed about our disease. We also just chit chat about anything and everything. The site is moderated, so this keeps any disagreements to a minimum. We are all one big happy family. I personally was diagnosed with AIP, Acute Intermittent Porphyria, and HCP, Hereditary CoPorphyria. Porphyria is a disease of heme synthesis in which over production of porphyrin compounds results from deficient enzyme activity in the biosthenic pathway of heme, either in the liver or blood cells in the bone marrow. When the disorder is active it can cause intermittent attacks of abdominal pain as well as a variety of other symptoms which range from mild to life threatening.
