Chris Kratt

When Chris was five years old, he liked to do things outside. He liked to play soccer. He liked to go camping and sleep in tents. He liked to ride horses and go on boat trips. And best of all, Chris liked making friends with animals. One time, Chris' dog Snowball had puppies while he and his family were camping far out in the wilderness. Chris gave Snowball some of his shirts and sweaters and Snowball used them to make a cozy bed for her puppies. Chris, Martin, and the rest of the family named the puppies Dudley, Remus, and Snowflake.Chris Kratt (Creator/Executive Producer/Star) is the co-founder of The Earth Creatures Company, a company which, through innovative wildlife entertainment in a variety of media, seeks to introduce people to the incredible creatures with whom we share the planet.Chris, a long-time creature-adventurer, began his wildlife filmmaking career when a 1990 expedition to Costa Rica with his brother yielded five short videos. Since then, Chris has undertaken filming expeditions to such exotic locales as Madagascar, Peru, Indonesia, and Australia. He has co-created and co-starred (with his brother, Martin) in two PBS series, Kratts' Creatures and Zoboomafoo.Committed to the conservation of endangered species and wildlife areas, Chris, a biologist (Watson Fellow, Carleton College), interned at Conservation International in 1990, founded the Carleton Organization for Biodiversity, and, most recently, founded with Martin the Kratt Brothers' Creature Heroes, a nonprofit society dedicated to empowering children to help the wild animals they love.

Martin Kratt

When Martin was five years old, he saw a stray cat in the yard. He and his mom gave the stray cat something to eat and named her Mitze. A few days later, Martin and his friend were sitting on the tractor pretending to drive it. They suddenly heard little meows coming from the wagon behind them. They looked back and saw a stray cat with four newborn kittens. So Martin and his family brought the stray cat and her new family into the house and took care of them. When the kittens grew up, they were adopted by neighbors and Martin kept one kitten named Grayey to be his pet and animal friend. Martin Kratt (Creator/Executive Producer/Star) is an innovative wildlife filmmaker, zoologist (Duke University Graduate), and real-life "creature adventurer" dedicated to teaching people about wild creatures and working for the preservation of endangered species. To further these goals, in 1990, Martin and his brother Chris founded The Earth Creatures Company, which specializes in wildlife entertainment. The co-creator and co-star (with Chris) of the critically acclaimed and popular Kratts' Creatures, a children's wildlife series airing on PBS since 1996, Martin has co-authored with his brother Chris, eight wildlife books for children (including Creatures in Crisis and Where're the Bears?) that have been published by Scholastic.Along with his brother Chris, Martin was the recent recipient of an Award of Appreciation for his on-going commitment and public service on behalf of conservation and environmental education by US Secretary of the Interior, Bruce Babbitt.

Zoboomafoo

Zoboo is a leaping lemur who lives in a place called Madagascar which is an island off the coast of Africa. He lives there with his mother and father and all the other lemurs in his group. Sometimes lemurs toothcomb each other to show that they're friends. Lemurs use four special teeth, called a toothcomb, to brush each others fur and keep it clean. Lemurs are also excellent leapers and can jump 20 feet between trees! That's a long leap! Zoboo loves to leap around the forest and play with other lemurs his age. And he loves to play with all sorts of other animals too! So, he comes to Animal Junction where he can wrestle with jaguar cubs, hug a baby snow monkey, swim with otters, and do push-ups with a black bear cub. Zoboo loves making friends with animals!
