A Hero And A Legend In Her Own Right

"My heart aches for our troops that just recently returned from
Bosnia to turn around and deploy to the gulf. May God watch over each
and everyone of them. They are the best of the best. Please hold them
in your prayers. LET'S NOT FORGET OUR TROOPS IN SAUDI!!!
God bless ALL my HEROES..... remember the song, "The Prayer."
Please don't think that just because I cannot hug you right now,
that I'm not with you because I am. You are America's Heroes,
and your mine! Whenever you get down, click to this page,

Hello, my name is Cherie, and I'm very glad you stopped by.
Each of you that visit this site, I hope you take with you the knowledge that YOU
can make a difference in this world. I hope I get the chance to meet
each one of you. Let me start by telling you a little about myself.
I hail from Missouri, (Creve Coeur) and graduated Horton Watkins High
School, at the age of 17. I was always actively involved in my
community. I participated in many sports during high school, and was,
"Homecoming Queen" in my senior year. I graduated four years of college
with the biggest honor, "Summa" from the University of Mo. in Columbia,
at the age of 21. I decided to put spice in my parents life, and
announce five months BEFORE graduation, that I was attending, "Atlantic
Airline School" in Kansas City, Kansas. I explained that I wanted to fly
and see the world, and try to make a difference in peoples lives. I
wanted so many to have hope, courage, and love, and I wanted to learn
about life, struggles, and compassion. After one year of schooling, I
decided to join United Air for two reasons: 1) The company supports our
Armed Forces and 2) I was accepted easily for International Flights, because I could
speak German. I went in with the goal that I was not just going to be an
Airline Attendant, I wanted more. I wanted to be Head Stewardess. I was
the youngest person to fly international. I caught on right away and
loved my job. I started entering our miles on the computer, little by
little more things were added for me to do besides flying. Then it
happened. After 6 months of tedius flying, and much paperwork to enter,
I received notification I was becoming, "Head Stewardess" at the age of
22 yrs. old, and was assigned to be head of, Flight #211. We have been
together ever since. I had to prove that I could handle this.
We started flying to Greece, and I met this woman, Zendra who ran an
orphanage. I wanted to give back so much, and thought why not start with
the children. After 3 years of constantly playing an active role with
these children, all, "120" of them are like my own. I make sure they
have a Christmas, and we go to parks, swimming, Roller Blading, play
Softball, and taught them how to throw a frisbee, and we enjoy our time
together. We fly to Bosnia constantly. I wanted to visit our troops and
let them know they are not forgotten. I started singing in Bosnia, and
it has been 3 years, and still love it. You appreciate all the little
things we take for granted. You see I believe, you CAN be anything you
want, no matter what kind of background you come from. You can make a
difference in someone's life. I will eventually be leaving United Air and attending
UNCG (University of North Carolina, Greensboro) to get
my Masters in Child Psychology this fall. I love people, and if I could leave one
statement in this world before I die, it would be, "You are worthy of
love, compassion, respect, and can acheive anything in life."
Remember, what you put out in life, you will receive back ten times over.
I want to thank some VERY special people in my life! First to God
for blessing me, My Parents, for ALL their support and unconditional
love, ALL my friends around the world, ALL the Armed Forces in Bosnia
and in the Gulf-- for they have taught me strenghth and show me
constantly, the meaning of the word " FRIEND"! My crew-for being my
family overseas-thank you I will miss you and miss UA; My adopted
mom, Becky, for ALWAYS being there for me, Chaplain Olson - for your
hospitality and warmth over the years and thank you to ALL the children
at Zendra's. I'm so proud of each and every one of you. This is the year
I will start my new journey in life. I keep all the special people,
that I have shared a path in life with, in my heart forever! We will
ALWAYS remain friends.
Thank you and God bless everyone,
Cherie
