When you finally get to North Corel, Barret will get the crap pouned out of him by some of the townspeople. Hmmm, what's all this? To the west, in front of the Tram to the Golden Saucer, he'll explain what turned North Corel into a junkheap. Finally, after all that, you can now go to the Gold Saucer. Woo hoo! This is one of my favorite places in the game, because not only does it have some of the most powerful items, it's also a ton of fun to just blow money, play video games, and basiclly just screw around! Btw, if you've got the money, I'd suggest buying the Gold Ticket for 30,000 gil now, because you'll probably want to come back here quite a bit later.
