Chapter 3

"Zelda is getting too close!" Ganon thought aloud. He was in his room, thinking of how he could stop the princess. The only choice is to move up the kidnapping date he thought.

Ganon went to the king's chamber and was allowed the day off for 'personal reasons.' This was the first thing that had gone wrong in his plan. Oh well he thought, nothing's perfect! Ganon walked towards his small cave. When he arrived, his faithful servant Aspete welcomed him warmly.

"Master, your back!" He said with a lopsided grin.

"Yes, Aspete, but not for long," Ganon replied, already busy untying his horse. He mounted the horse and headed towards Death Mountain.

He rode to the top of the mountain, where he slid into the small opening from which he could slip into Rowena's lair.

"What a surprise!" Rowena laughed.

"Yes," Ganon smiled, "but unfortunately this visit is purely business related. Zelda is coming too close to figuring out our plot. We must start tonight!"

"If you insist," Rowena smiled.

"Meet me in my cave at midnight," Ganon said, already getting excited at the thought of ridding himself of that menace of a princess.

"Of course Ganon. Not a minute later!" Rowena said with a hint of sarcasm. "See you there."

Zelda awoke in her bed the next morning with Link sitting in a chair near by.

"You alright?" he asked, genuinely concerned.

"I guess," Zelda replied. "I mean, I remember that I had something very important to tell you, but everything's so foggy and unclear now..."

"That's okay, Zel! It'll come back to you!" Link said in a reassuring voice. Zelda smiled and sat up in bed.

"I know. I just...I really think this was important. Oh well," Zelda said, thinking. However, as hard as she tried to capture her thought, her concentrating had no effect.

"Well, I'll leave you to rest, Princess!" Link said, and departed. Link really does care about me Zelda thought and smiled. She was still smiling as she fell asleep for the night.

Ganon smiled as he went over the events planned for tonight. It was 11:00 P.M. and everyone was asleep, everyone, that is, except for the kind old wizard Gremiard. His horse was waiting outside, where it would carry Zelda and him to his cave. The rest was child's play.

He slipped out of his door and snuck stealthily down the few feet of hallway between his and Zelda's rooms. He silently opened Zelda's door and crept inside. He walked over to Zelda's bedside and poured a potion over her entire body. "That should keep you quiet" Ganon whispered as he slung the Princess' limp body over his shoulder. Ganon carefully slipped through the castle passages and arrived outside to find his horse waiting. He mounted the horse and rode towards his cave. Rowena was already there waiting.

Let's begin!" Ganon cackled, and headed toward the back of the cave. There, he locked Zelda in a small, dark, damp dungeon cell. When the door was securely locked, he returned to Rowena. Rowena moved into the small circle on the fllor of the cave and stood patiently as Ganon began reciting an incantation. A fog started rising at Rowena's feet. The mist began swirling around Rowena. As the mist engulfed her, Ganon heard her deep, dark laugh transform into Zelda's childlike giggle.
