Isis, my first horse of Arabian descent, is an elegant and playful mare. Although I didn’t realize it until after I bought her, she is the half sister to one of my very favorite stallions, Beyond the Sea, with an equally pretty coat pattern. Taking her turn in the show ring, she is collected and puts forth a model performance. She can be a handful on the ground, often needing to be lunged before riding, but otherwise she’s easy to get along with. Isis is a very easy keeper, never fussing about her food or getting restless in her stall, though like any horse she prefers to be outside. Unfortunately, she doesn’t get along with dogs and sees them as the enemy, so they have to be kept away from her at all times. I took her training in the opposite direction (as with the Andalusians I bought at the same time as her), turning her into my second sidesaddle horse ever (the first was Spirit Mountain) and focusing more on English disciplines to show off her collection, though she was formerly a well-trained cow horse.
