Dove is a playful little mare who likes games. She makes a game of sneaking up behind you and giving a gentle nudge to let you know that you have been seen. She also knows perfectly well when she is supposed to come in to be ridden or groomed -- but she draws that out, circling closer and closer until she deems you worthy to put on her halter and lead her away from her friends. Out on the trail, Dove likes to play in all the water she can find, churning it up with her hoof and then sometimes stretching down for a drink. Willow trees delight her, and she will stand under them for a long time while the branches wave over her body. When not being ridden, Dove has fairly good ground manners, although she will test her handler to see what she can get away with, such as holding her head up as high as she can. On a lead, however, she immediately settles down and stops her games, ready to work. She relishes a good scratch between the ears in addition to having her cheeks stroked by way of praise...though she never says no to horse cookies!
