Photos from the Trail

Of the land we own, about 2/3 of it (around 65-70 acres) is composed of forest to create a complex network of paths for the ultimate activity -- trail riding.
The dirt trails are made for horses but easily accessible on foot as well, ranging from simple, flat loops to long treks into the wilderness. Along with a few ponds and streams, one trail goes out to a fairly clear lake with a rocky beach, perfect for an afternoon of relaxation. My personal favorite is the ridge trail, which is a steep climb, but well worth it for the rewarding views. The house is shown here, from the beginning of the trail.

Yet another one stays closer to civilization and passes farms, where you might see herds of cows grazing outside.

And of course, there are backwoods trails to reach the neighboring barns, Clear Brook Farms and Painted Valley Stables!
The wildlife is abundant as well. Brightly colored songbirds are easy to spot, as are rabbits, squirrels, and chipmunks. On the water, frogs keep up a constant trill while sharing their home with turtles, herons, and ducks. More rare are sightings of white-tailed deer, pheasants, raccoons (at night) and even foxes. Hawks have been spotted circling high in the sky, and the largely untouched forests probably contain many other beautiful, unseen inhabitants. The land is strictly off-limits to hunters.
