Sue's Information

Last Updated August 14, 1999

"Sue" is a 1966 Volkswagen Dormobile. She was purchased by me on August 1, 1999 from Bill at Dune Buggy Supply in Hopkins, MN (great guys). Sue is named after the orange ghost in Pac-Man. Sue has two siblings. My Red bus, named Blinky (after the red ghost)and my GTi, named Pac-Man, because it's fast, not because it's yellow (it's black). Anyway, back to Sue. Sue's VIN is 236 161 293 2070 950 1050. Sue is a 12 volt 1966, which is rare. She is also a walkthrough splitty, which is also rare. She also has a gas heater made by Eblingen/Necker. The gas heater claims to be a 6 volt and is not currently hooked up. This leads me to believe that the bus was not originally a 12 volt, as some '66's are. The only thing that Sue is missing is the Dormatic seats, which are probably all mysteriously buried with Jimmy Hoffa. If you have a set of these seats, I'll give you whatever you want for 'em. within reason. I'd be completely satisfied with some westy interior all the same. Anyway, It has the full camp box in back, over the engine compartment, with a two-burner stove (with broiler, yippie!), sink, locker, two sliding cupboards, a cupboard with a mirror next to the sink, and an overhead compartment. I have been told that this particular campbox is very rare. Both bunks in the roof are there, but the passenger side bunk has a large rip and is not capable of holding any human being. However, a small Yorkshire Terrier could sleep quite comfortably on the unripped end. The other bunk is in pristine shape. No rips and the cover is still there. I've tried it out once, it's quite comfy. The Dormo top is in excelent shape, but was very dirty upon time of sale. It has since been cleaned up quite nicely. Sue's interior had 11 or more years of grime and dust bunnies in it. It had been sitting since 1988 until I saved her, you see. I spent a good week just giving her a good scrubbing. Right now Sue sits in Matts apartment parking lot. It was in the street, but she received a whopping $5 parking ticket for being there overnight. Hopefully Matt land lord will be OK with this until we get it moved into the shop in the next few days. We won't get caught up on Sue's current condition here, as that will change quite frequently. That will all be noted in the journal area. So that is Sue. I wiil have pictures as soon as I have access to my computer which is currently at Matt's work. Matt was nice enough to let me use his computer for starting up this page (thanks Matt!).
