My name is Corinne. I'm a tall, 17 yr. old blonde, and I live in Tampa, Florida. My best friend is BJ Carter. I've known her since the first day of kindergarten... when she pushed me off the swing set. Nice way to meet, huh? We just kind of clicked after that, and we've been friends ever since. Let me take you back about 4 years ago; to the spring of 1995. It was about 3 in the afternoon, and I visited BJ's house. She greeted me at the door, and invited me in. There I saw her older brother jumping around, ecstatic. He was a cute, tall blond... and what a schmoozer! He could make any girl's heart melt. He must have been gone for at least 5 months... because I hadn't seen him for a while. "What's up with him?" I asked BJ, vaguely amused. "Oh.. he's just excited. His album went platinum!" she replied. I giggled a little. "Album?" I asked. She turned to me and gave me a look that said, "duh!" "Yeah... his album... 'Backstreet Boys'. You remember his group, don't you?" she asked. My eye's widened. I remember about two years ago he had decided to form a group with two of his friends; AJ and Howie. They were two Latino guys he met at a couple of auditions, and they seemed to click well with each other. Not to mention they were darn cute! There was another guy they picked up from Disney World. I think his name was Kevin. He had been playing "Aladdin" at the park... there's something to put on the resume! And if you saw him... you'd know he fit the part perfectly! Tall, dark, and handsome... and also those unmistakable eyebrows! He was the perfect Arabian prince! There was another guy, too, that they had recruited from Kentucky. They said he was 'Disney-boy's' cousin, or brother or something. I never met the guy, so I couldn't tell you much about him. They formed the 5-part harmony group, "The Backstreet Boys." But I didn't know that they were actually making records!! "You mean... his group is actually famous?!" I asked BJ. "Heck yeah! They've been selling records left and right! Well... in Europe and Asia, at least," she replied. "Wow! Way to go Nick!" I said, stunned. Nick turned around and looked at me. "Oh... hey Nick. Yeah... that was me interrupting your conversation! Sorry!" I said with a smile. "Oh man Corinne, isn't it great?" Nick asked me, as he ran up and gave me a hug that lifted me off the ground. "Ugh! Yeah Nick... cool!" I groaned in a high-pitched voice. "Now can you put me down? You're cutting off the circulation to my brain!" He let me down, and when he looked at me again, he had a huge smile spread across his face. "Wow... you're really excited, aren't you?" I asked. "Well yeah! Wouldn't you be?" he replied. Before I could reply, Aaron, (BJ and Nick's little brother) came running down the stairs. "NICK, NICK, NICK!!!" he screamed. He then plowed right into Nick. "Whoa, Aaron! What's up little man?" Nick asked as he lifted Aaron up in his arms. "Nothin' Nick, I just missed ya a whole lot!" he replied. Nick laughed and carried Aaron off into the other room where his parents were waiting. "Wow... that was weird," I said. "I've never seen Nick this excited!" "Yeah, he's been like that since the guys went on tour. Every night he'd call us from whatever country he was in, and almost scream the house down, he was so excited!" BJ giggled. "Hmm... Maybe I should meet this 'band' of his, then," I said. "They've got to be something worth seeing!" |
