Location: Fort Payne, Alabama Crime: Rape and 1st degree sexual abuse Details:At age seven, "The child cried out for the abuse to stop in 1993," according to a press release from District Attorney Mike O'Dell, who prosecuted the case along with Assistance District Attorney Bob Johnston. But, O'Dell, continued, the child "was threatened by the defendant to 'take back' her account" and the abuse resumed. The child reported the rape and other abuse again "in December 1997 to avoid another Christmas alone with Garrett," O'Dell's release states. After that report, Johnston said, "A search of Garrett's residence revealed pornographic materials and physical evidence described by the victim in her account." Also providing evidence of sexual assault was a medical examination conducted by a Birmingham specialist, Johnston added.
