    Deciding to go a bit farther into the west forest's edge, you notice that the woods aren't really so thick as they look!

    Trees are actually somewhat sparse here, and you can see fully what is running about on the ground. You see several small firelizards flitting around and some kind of birds with strange plumage, then you look down...

    A streak can be seen out of the corner of your eye, and you decide to turn for a better look...

    A barely visible dark brown and green streak is chasing one of the birds! It catches it and you yell, causing it to lose hold and the bird flies off. The creature glares in your direction, you realize it is a Melcey Pup like you saw just before...

It comes closer to you and stops a couple feet away. "You've caused me to lose my meal, Visitor. I hope you're happy..." The creature gives a snort and you suddenly feel guilty...

"I didn't... I didn't mean... Didn't know... I'm sorry," you sputter and he looks less upset.

"Ah well, maybe my father and the others had better luck... I'm Seshin. Son of Emestek and Wild Sky Kit. I'm sure you met my father but don't know my mother..." You nod. "Probably just as well. I don't get along with my family as well as I'd like to. They look down on me because I'm thinking of finding a mate and they are all for the 'pack life'. That's why I'm in a different part of these woods... Though I'm no longer alone..." His ears flick- it seems he heard a noise... You turn and see the reason... Another Melcey Pup just arrived on the scene. This one looks... odd.

"Ah, here's my 'room mate' now." Seshin grins and flicks an ear.

The new arrival grins and the 'ridge' of fur upon her back twitches. "Hey, visitor. I'm Liliva, a Life female. I am one of the ones from the special Halloween batch. Hence my odd appearance... nothing close to my batch sister/brother..." You blink at the way she says it.

She catches your odd look and nonchantly states, "Two bodies, attached by the tail. One female, one male... and a twin-headed brother also... Some quite odd ones. And some 'normal' ones also. I guess I'm somewhere inbetween..."

A third Melcey interrupts her and she looks annoyed. But she gives Seshin a look and you sense her talking is done. Something must have upset her... or something.

She gives the newcomer a look and wanders off. Seshin looks torn and runs off also. The new one doesn't seem to be surprised by this behavior...

"Phyier's my name, fire's my game. Those two don't seem to think you should play with fire." He- you believe from the voice- seems to get a faintly feral glint in his eye and an ear suddenly perks. He bounds off in the direction of the noise he must have heard without another word... This leaves you to
