History of the band...

This is the timeline of Ramms+tein's past from the beginning of 1994 to the US mini tour as support of KMFDM.

Beginning of 1994

Six musicians from East Germany (Berlin and Schwerin) form the band which is now known as Ramms+ein.The line up is:
Richard Kruspe,Guitar prior- Orgasm Death Gimmick
Paul Landers,Guitar prior-Feeling B.
Till Lindemann,Vocals prior-First Arsch
Flake Lorenz,Keyboards prior- Feeling B.
Oliver Riedel,Bass prior- The inchtobakatables
Christoph Schneider,Drums prior- Die Firma


The initiator of the band,Richard Kruspe, was followed up by Christoph Schneider and Oliver Riedel. Paul Landers,Flake Lorenz and Till Lindemann finalized the formation.

May 1994

Beginning of 1995

A record deal with Motor Music/Polygram records, signed by Petra Husemann

March 1995

The debut album,"Herzeleid", is produced in the Polar studio in Stockholm, working with the swedish producer Jacob Hellner.

8/17/95

Released the first single, "Du Riechst so gut". First as a limited,good smelling digipack.

9/24/95

Release of "Herzeleid".
Begin working with the concert agent Henry von Fichtel for the agency "Blindfish".

10/14/95-10/31/95

Rammstein on tour with German band "Project Pitchfork" for 15 concerts.

11/27/95-12/22/95

Rammstein goes on first headliner tour in Germany, working with the "Blindfish" agency for 17 concerts.

1/2/96

The second single,"Seemann", from Herzeleid is released.

1/19/96-1/22/96

Rammstein plays with Clawfinger in Austria and Switzerland for 3 concerts.

1/23/96-1/30/96

Rammstein plays with "The Ramones" on the "Adios Amigos Tour" in Germany.
First co-operation with concert agent Scumek Sabottka for MTC.

2/16/96-3/3/96

Rammstein tours in Germany with the Blindfish agency with support of DJ KOM for 14 concerts.

3/27/96

Played live for the MTV show, "Hanging Out",in Londan.

5/2/96 Showcase on the Polygram World Congress in Honk Kong.

5/29/96-7/7/96

Rammstein tours in Germany with the Blindfish agency for 21 concerts with the support of Farmer Boys and Mink Stole.
Rammstein plays festivals.

August 1996
The American cult film director,David Lynch, chooses two songs for his movie,"Lost Highway". "Heirate Mich" and "Rammstein" are his selections.

9/27/96

100 Years of Rammstein concert in the Arena located in berlin. Guests: Moby and Bobo and the Berlin Session Orchestra.
Beginning of the cooperation with the painter/photographer Gottfried Hellwein. He gives one of his original pictures for the stage set.
For the light show ,there is gert Hof, a director from berlin.
Ceremonious foundation of the first Official Rammstein Fan-Club.

9/29/96-10/12/96

Rammstein tours in Germany,Austria and Switzerland in cooperation with the Blindfish agency for 13 concerts. Support:Secret Discovery

November 1996

The album "Sehnsucht" is produced in the Temple studios in Malta.Again the producer is Jacob Hellner from Sweden.

1/14/97

The album enters the German sale charts for the 5th time!!

4/1/97

The first single ,"Engel",is released from Sehnsucht.It enters the charts at 12. The video is produced in Hamburg by Dir. Hannes Rossacher.

5/6/97-5/25/97

Rammstein goes on a sold-out tour through Germany/Austria/Switzerland in cooperration with the agency MTC for 17 concerts. Support: Eskimos and Egypt

5/27/97

Pinkpop festival in Holland.

5/20/97

"Herzeleid" reaches 14 on the charts.

5/23/97

"Engel" reaches the state of gold!!!
At the same time, the remix of "Engel"-fan edition is released containing two unreleased collectors -items,"Wilder Wein" and "Feuerrader".

Release of the second single from the forthcoming "Sehnsucht"-album:"Du Hast". The video clip is produced Berlin/Brandenburg by the director Phillip Stolzl.

Borht "Herzeleid" and "Engel" have been awarded with gold, until then, the two records have sold more than 450,000 copies.

Bizarre festival, Cologn,Germany

Lowland festival, Dronten,Holland.
The second album,"Engel" is released. Having 6 different covers, each with a Hellwein portrait of one of the Rammstein musicians. "Sehsnucht" chart entry to rank one on the album charts.
"Herzeleid" is in the top 20 of the album-charts.
In the singles charts, both "Engel" and "Du Hast" can be found in the top 20.
Even in pre-sale, "Sehnsucht" reaches platinum state in Germany.
