Custom disc brakes for the Sunline - page 2

The parts of the hub assembly.

Shown here are the finished hub, modified rotor, and new and old wheel studs. The hub (left) has the back side facing up, showing the old counterbores filled and ground smooth. The rotor (right) looks just like a stock one, except the center hole and lug holes are slightly enlarged. An old wheel stud is shown to the top, and a new longer one with the longer knurl is beneath it.

Two views of the assembled hubs.

Here is a front and back view of the painted hub, rotor, and wheel stud assemblies as finished.

A view of the axle flange, as modified.

Here is a view of the axle flange as finished. The electric brake plates have been removed. The lower shoe stop block has been ground off to clear the rotor. (The upper pivot in the middle of the plate still remains as shown.) Four holes have been drilled and tapped for mounting the first plate to the flange. After cleaning the goo from the flanges with parts cleaner, a spider came out and died in one of the tapped holes. Wonder how many more are living inside the axle.
