The Doghouse in more detail

Front Side View

This view shows how the spare tire is mounted, as well as a good overall shape of the frame. The front sidemarker lights recessed into the trim are visible. Also added later were the 14" strip lights, centered just above the horizontal trim at the roof gable. An amber light was in front, and a red one in back.

Rear Side Lower View

This view shows the bracing that I added later to the lights/license box. Didnt get to paint it before I took the photo. One of my first adventures sent me on a dead end road in a snowstorm, and I broke off the box partially on a snowbank while turning around. One safety feature unknown until then was that the wires leading into the body also support the box if it was to break loose, so it wouldnt be lost. The box got another test one time when I was stuck in the snowbank, and when I freed the car I backed the trailer into someones car. The reinforcement paid off. In this view, you can also see the rear sidemarker that is recessed into trim, as well as one of the latches and locks for the rear door. Later on I added weatherproof Master locks because I got tired of carrying a propane torch wherever I went.

Safety chains and wiring

This view shows the special 6000# chains I used on the Doghouse. The new coupler, along with the 7-wire RV plug, is visible. Notice where I put the plug socket on the car. It was about the only place I could put it, but to this day it seems like the best place.
