SCORE KEEPERS' GUIDELINES

 

  1.  20 points for a correct answer to a regular or toss-up question.

  2.  10 points to the team and individual score for a correct answer to a free question.

  3.  10 bonus points to the team and individual score for four correct answers to 20-point questions by one person without errors.

  4.  10 bonus points to the team score for a correct answer to a 20-point question by the third, fourth and fifth team member.  Total bonus could equal 30 points.

  5.  -10 points from the team score for every 2 team fouls.

  6.  -10 points from the individual score for every 2 individual fouls

  7.  -10 points from the team score for an error on the 16th and subsequent questions.

  8.  -10 points from the team score for the 4th team error and each successive error in that quiz.

  9.  -10 points from the team and individual score for an individual's third error.

10.  Incorrect answers on a free question do not result in any points being deducted from the team or individual score.

11.  Never deduct more than 10 points on one question.

12.  Teams can have negative scores.

13.  Each team can have two 45-second time-outs per quiz at any point in the quiz.  However, they may only be called between questions, after the quizmaster has ruled on the correctness of the answer.

Correct points are marked in the center of the scoring box.

Error points from personal score should be marked in the bottom right-hand corner of the scoring box. Team error points are marked in the team score box.

Fouls are recorded in the lower right-hand corner of the box with an "F".  Example of a quizzer with a correct question but also a second foul.

Bonus points are recorded in the lower right-hand corner of the box.  Example a quizzer scoring bonus for four correct twenty-point questions with no errors.

Team bonus points for the third or fourth quizzer correctly answering a twenty-point question are recorded in the team score box.

 

 

OLYMPIC TEAM POINTS

 

Olympic points are awarded for each quiz as follows:

 

First place team receives 10 Olympic points with one additional point for each ten team points over 120 up to a total of 14 Olympic points.

Second place team receives 5 Olympic points with one additional Olympic point for each ten team points over 70 up to a total of 9 Olympic points.

Third place team receives 1 Olympic point with one additional Olympic point for each ten team points over 30 up to a total of 4 Olympic points.
