St Casimir's Family Tree

GENERATION ONE - HOUSE OF PIAST - DUKES OF POALND::

Casimir I the Restorer, was from the line of Mieszko I founder of the Polish Ruling House. Casimir I was born in 1016 to Mieszko II, Lambert (1025-1034) and was the Duke of Poland from 1034 through 1039. Casimir married Dobronega (1011-1087) in 1041(?). Dobronega was the daughter of Vladimir I, Grand Duke of Kiev.

GENERATION TWO:

Wladislaw I (1043-1102) "Herman" was the Duke of Poland in 1080. He married (1) Judith (1056-1085), the daughter of Wratislaw I, King of Bohemia.

GENERATION THREE:

Boleslaw III (1085-1133) "Wry-Mouth", was the Duke of Poland in 1102. He married: Salome (D: 1144), the daughter of Henry Castellan of Berg in 1115.

GENERATION FOUR:

Casimir II (1138-1195), was Duke of Crakow in 1177. Casimir married: (2) Helen (D: 1202/6) in 1185(?). Helen was the daughter of Rostislaw, Grand Duke of Kiev

GENERATION FIVE:

Leszek I (1186/7-1227) "the White" was the Duke of Cracow in 1177. He married Grzymislawa (D: 1258) in 1207. Grzymislawa was the daughter of Ingvar, Prince of Luck.

GENERATION SIX:

Boleslaw V was (1226-1279)the Duke of Crakow in 1227. He married Kunegunde (1237-1292) in 1239. She was the daughter of Bela IV, King of Hungary.

GENERATION SEVEN:

Wladislaw I (IV), King of Poland

GENERATION EIGHT:

Elizabeth married Robert of Hungary

GENERATION NINE:

Louis, King of Hungary

GENERATION TEN:

Jadwiga/Hedwig was crowned King in 1384. She married: "Jagellon", Grand Duke of Lithuania (1377-1401) in 1386. Jagellon was the son of Algirdas (Olgierd), Grand Duke of Lithuania *1345-1377) and Julianna of Tver.

Jagellon become Wladislaw II (1351-1434) after being baptized as a Christian (before that he was pagan). He married (2) Anne of Cilly (1390-1416) in 1401. (3) Elizabeth who died in 1420 (4) *Sophia (1405-1461) in 1422. Sophia was the daughter of Andrew, Prince of Holszany.

GENERATION ELEVEN:

Casimir IV, (1427-1492) was the Grand Duke of Lithuania in 1445, and the King of Poland in 1447. He marriedElizabeth (1438-1505), daughter of Albrecht II, Roman King, and King of Bohemia and Hungary.

GENERATION TWELVE:

Wladislaw II (1456-1516) was King of Bohemia and Hungary

St. Casimir (1458-1484). Casimir was to be King, but he gave up his throne to pursue a life in the church.

John I (1459-1501) "Albrecht" was King of Poland in 1492.

Alexander (1461-1506) was the Grand Duke of Lithuania in 1492, and King of Poland in 1501.

Sigismund I (1467-1548) was King of Poland in 1506.

Frederick (1468-1503) was a Cardinal.

Sophia (1464-1512) married Frederick (1460-1536), Margrave of Brandenburg Ansbach in 1479.
