The Beautiful Ladies of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority Incorporated - Beta Chi Chapter

In February 28, 1943, the president of the first Historically Black College in Michigan, the Lewis College of Business, helped create a Business and Professional Sorority. The founder, Soror Elizabeth A. Garner and co-founder, Soror Violet T. Lewis originated Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. in the interest of improving the economic and social status of all women and to promote the beneficial use of acquired education, and/or training for the best interest of the community. Gamma Phi Delta Sorority Incorporated holds lifetime membership with the NAACP and the NCNW.

The mission of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority Inc. is to improve the economic, social and political status of all women. These phenomenal women aim to encourage each other to further their education/ training and maintain a progressive interest in the values of humanity. The women of Gamma Phi Delta also strive to establish and maintain a better relationship among women of all races and creeds and to be of greater service to our community, our country, and each other.

Gamma Phi Delta Sorority is a sisterhood of distinguished, congenial business and professional women. The members of this sorority aid and cultivate higher scholastic and ethical standards for youth using their own talents and qualities. Providing social and recreational outlets, and implementing enrichment programs for the young within the community is one of the main objectives for these women.

Personal and Professional Development

The Sorority provides opportunities for the women to work and serve on the local, regional and national levels, developing productive relationships and fostering positive results. The Sorority is an excellent vehicle to build positive relationships with women with similar aspirations throughout the United States and internationally.
