(1) Pat Patterson wins a fictitious tournament for the WWF Intercontinental Title.
(2) The Ultimate Warrior wins the WWF World Title and he vacates the WWF Intercontinental Title. A tournament is set and in the finals, Mr. Perfect defeated Tito Santana to win the title.
(3) Shawn Michaels becomes injured and is unable to defend the title. A tournament is set and in the finals, Razor Ramon defeated Rick Martel to win the title.
(4) A match between Jeff Jarrett and Bob Holly ends in controversy. The title is declared vacant and in the rematch, Jeff Jarrett defeated Bob Holly to win the title.
(5) Shawn Michaels becomes injured and is unable to defend the title. Dean Douglas is awarded the title.
(6) A match between Goldust and Savio Vega ends in controversy. The title is declared vacant and in the rematch, Goldust defeated Savio Vega to win the title.
(7) Ahmed Johnson becomes injured and is unable to defend the title. A tournament is set and in the finals, Marc Mero defeated Faarooq to win the title.
(8) Steve Austin becomes injured and is unable to defend the title. A tournament is set and in the finals, Owen Hart defeated Faarooq to win the title.
(9) Triple H becomes injured and is unable to defend the title. A tournament is set and in the finals, Ken Shamrock defeated X-Pac to win the title.
(10) Chris Benoit defeated Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle in a three-way match to win the title.
(11) Due to a pre-match stipulation, the title can change hands in this tag team match between Eddie Guerrero and Chyna against Val Venis and Trish Stratus. Chyna defeated Trish Stratus to win the title.
(12) Eddie Guerrero defeated Chyna and Kurt Angle in a three-way match to win the title.
(13) Edge defeated Test to unify both the WWF Intercontinental Title and WCW United States Title as one title. Both titles are now referred to as the WWF Intercontinental Title.
(14) As of May 6, 2002, the title is now refered to as the WWE Intercontinental Title.
(15) On July 22, 2002, Rob Van Dam defeated Jeff Hardy to unify both the WWE Intercontinental Title and WWE European Title as one title. Both titles are now referred to as the WWE Intercontinental Title.
(16) On August 26, 2002, both the WWE Intercontinental Title and WWE Hardcore Title were unified as one title. Both titles are now referred to as the WWE Intercontinental Title.
