(1) Lex Luger wins the WCW World Title and he vacates the WCW United States Title. A tournament is set and in the finals, Sting defeated Steve Austin to win the title.
(2) Rick Rude becomes injured and is unable to defend the title. A tournament is set and in the finals, Dustin Rhodes defeated Ricky Steamboat to win the title.
(3) A match between Dustin Rhodes and Rick Rude ends in controversy. The title is declared vacant and in the rematch, Dustin Rhodes defeated Rick Rude to win the title.
(4) Ricky Steamboat no-showed the match, and the title was awarded to Steve Austin.
(5) Vader was forced to vacate the title. A tournament is set and in the finals, Sting defeated Meng in the finals to win the title.
(6) Ric Flair becomes injured and is unable to defend the title. A tournament is set and in the finals, Eddie Guerrero defeated Diamond Dallas Page to win the title.
(7) Goldberg wins the WCW World Title and he vacates the WCW United States Title. A match is set and Bret Hart defeated Diamond Dallas Page to win the title.
(8) Scott Hall becomes injured and is unable to defend the title. A tournament is set and in the finals, Scott Steiner defeated Booker T. to win the title.
(9) Scott Steiner becomes injured and is unable to defend the title. David Flair is awarded the title.
(10) Scott Hall defeated Bret Hart, Kevin Nash, and Goldberg in a four-way match to win the title.
(11) Scott Hall becomes injured and is unable to defend the title. A match is set and Chris Benoit defeated Jeff Jarrett to win the title.
(12) Jeff Jarrett is forced to vacate the title. A tournament is set and in the finals, Scott Steiner defeated Sting to win the title.
(13) Scott Steiner is forced to vacate the title. A tournament is set and in the finals, Lance Storm defeated Mike Awesome to win the title.
(14) General Rection defeated Jim Duggan and Lance Storm in a handicapped match to win the title.
(15) Booker T. vacated the title and Chris Kanyon is awarded the title.
(16) On November 18, 2001, Edge defeated Test to unify both the WWF Intercontinental Title and WCW United States Title as one title. Both titles are now referred to as the WWF Intercontinental Title.
