full circle psycho
Now Playing: Lucero Hello Sadness
Vision Hip Sacks were huge in the late '80s. These goofy little belted sachels held everything from keys, film, tools, weed, granola bars, you name it. They are now considered lame. I hope no one in the year 2019 is writing this same type of thing about the "Bar Bag" that came out in 2006

I know, we've been calling it the "man bag", but it really is a handlebar bag and it would be handy for riding your bike to the bar. I'm pretty siked on the "ZeroNine Technology" integrated into the straps, which keeps it from flopping around

It fits really well, is easy to put on and take off, has a belt-loop if you want to get really daring and it holds a lot of stuff.

There is a bigger version of this photo somewhere on this website and the first person to e mail me with the answer to these two questions gets a free bag:
What song is playing on that Ipod?
What is Crandall's phone number, according to the phone in the pic?
I'm serious about this. stowne@twmi.rr.com
The belts came out really cool as well.

Dans Comp has the Draft Dodger hats and Test Pattern shirts in stock. Last Call Distribution has all the new shirts and a bunch of stuff if you have a shop and are interested in getting Deliverance product and Albe's has the Bar Bags and some new shirts in stock. Hook it up, son!
After my public badgering of Sparks and Dane, I noticed that Dane had some Deliverance stickers on his top tube. I saw Sparks the next day and he asked if I had any stickers, but didn't mention the blog. I realized too, that neither Dan Closser or Chris Hatfield really have any Deliverance stickers on their bikes, so I apologize to Dane and Sparks for not coming down on Dan and Chris as well. I guess the team is going to be me, Solan, Kelly B, Crandall and half the kids at Modern and TRP who are representing. Sparks, Dane, Hatfield and Dan are all off the team. Sorry guys.
Sparks is riding a 22 pound bike with 1.75 tires front and rear. Hatfield pointed out the ridiculousness of this in that Sparks is stronger than a retarded gorilla. Coincidence or irony? Don't carve too hard on that front tire, buddy. I love Sparks...okay, he's back on the team. Wait, Dane is back on as well, since he put stickers on. Hatfield and Dan are out to pasture. They are getting old anyway.
I got the Fitlife Video and it is amazing For real. It opens with the gnarliest slam section, then goes into part after part of unbelievable riding with very little BS. Chase Hawk is one of my favorite riders and his part is incredible. Van Homan seemed to calm it down a notch after his amazing early video parts and subsequent knee injuries, but his part in this proves that he has not let up one bit. Just F-ing going for it! Brian Foster is dear to me with his racing background, veteran status and flowing style. His part makes BMX seem like the most fun thing a person could ever do. It is, isn't it? The Edwin/Tom White split part is kick ass, Chase Dehart's part is rad and the Eddie Cleveland part is stunning. The big surprise standout to me is Justin Inman. His skills have never been questioned, but his part in Fitlife is so F-ing good! I replayed his 360 to snapped table so many times, pausing it at the pinnacle. This eloquent move is my single favorite trick in the entire video. Such beautiful style. And speaking of style, we can not overlook the ender with no surrender, Mike Aitkin. His style, attack and commitment are a fitting end to this video. Mike kills it. The friends and family part is good too, with some big moves and keep-it-real-ability of the H.M.F.I.C., Robbie Morales. Rob-O is a stand up dude and there is no one more devoted to BMX than Big Bob. I often think of something he says in Road Fools 2 when he's arguing with Rooftop "This is all I know". So true. Fitlife is the best video I've seen in ages (and I watch them all). I even made my wife watch Mike Aitkin's part...

Wild Planet
Battle of the Bands This is the single greatest You Tube video I have seen yet. I'm dating myself by disclosing this information, but the B-52's Wild Planet and AC/DC's For Those About to Rock... are the first two cassette tapes I every purchased, right after receiving a second rate, no-name Walkman for Christmas, 1979. The Man Bags and belts are here! Photos later.

holiday confusion
Now Playing: Here comes Peter Cotton Tail
I know Halloween was last night, but Kelly Baker got a little confused about the holiday and re-did his bike....

I shouldn't make fun of Kelly since he actually runs Deliverance stickers and wears the gear...

The Manifest
I wrote this about the company when it first started in 2002. It still applies (more than ever).

Ghouls Night OUt
Now Playing: Misfits Halloween
Happy Hallows eve. I love Halloween. I'm stoked that I can continue my celebration of this sacred holiday with my own demon-spawn

Joe Gall of Team Young is a big time FOD.

There is a rad little movie clip of Joe on his site, too. I'm glad Joe reps Deliverance because I haven't seen a photo of Sparks yet that indicates any affiliation with our brand (I guess I need to give him some more shirts and stickers). Besides the fact that he is wearing a Zoo York shirt, the sequence of Matt in the new Ride BMX doing the tail-whip rewinder reminder is awesome. At least he's wearing Etnies, right Matt?
Dane Wild just got back from the Baco jam in Florida where he kicked enough ass to land in sixth place. He flew (for the first time ever!) down there with Flip from Albes (there is a good pic of Dane on there as well). Congrats Dane (I guess I need to get him some more stickers as well). More later...

FOD Dave Davenport
Here's a bike check for FOD Dave Davenport. Don't skip the post below, I kept the editorial to a minimum.

Tires- Maxxis M-Tread (1.95”) rear, Maxxis Holy Roller (2.20”) front

Weight- 24.1 lbs.

I built this bike up for the 2006 Interbike show in Las Vegas. It was at the Stolen BMX booth for the entire show, and most of the people that checked it out were pretty psyched on it. I haven’t made any modifications to the bike yet. I am still going back and forth as to whether or not I want to put a gyro on this bike. I am planning on cutting the bars ?” on each side, and cutting the steer tube on the fork down a little bit. I should probably note that this bike weighs less than 25 lbs. WITHOUT ANY TITANIUM PARTS. I’m sure I could make this thing lighter if I wanted to, but I think it’s plenty light as is (plus, I’m 20 lbs. overweight, so what’s the point).

Less Talk, More Rock
Now Playing: The Who Won't Get Fooled Again
How about for a change, I'm just going to post a bunch of pix instead of a long-winded ramble...

Division Tattoo kingpin Rich Fisher, Davey Coop and the walking wounded, Dave Patterson (seperated shoulder) and Jeff Tabb (broken wrist four days ago, riding tonight). FODs all.

FOD Jason Burton, with a style suspiciously similar to the Bicycle Motocross Action cover post and a no-brakes danger manual (Jason also exemplified that the "post a comment" feature on this blog actually worked as well)

Davey Cooperwasser has been down with Deliverance since day one. This down-side tootspick footplant is ultra-styley.

Stan Clocker going real high. This was his line where he jumped over me the other day. As you can see, clearing my fat ass was not really an issue.

This is a shot from the Jeremy McGrath invitational MX race that was on TV this weekend. Shit was awesome.

I took advantage of my own laziness and shot one of my old bikes in the unraked leaves in the backyard.

I've been messing with my old Honda whenever the weather and my schedule permits (about a half an hour at a time). I laced up that front wheel, had the tires installed, trimmed the seat way down, did some mods to that rear fender (not mounted), modified the forks, added some pod air-filters and cleaned the (four) carbs and a bunch of other crap. I do not look forward to re-wiring this bitch. Have a great weekend, bros!

FOD revisited
Now Playing: Frankie Goes To Hollwood Relax

nothing personal
Now Playing: broken Ipod blues
As much as technology makes our lives better and makes some things so awesome, it can be very frustrating. My Ipod has taken a shit. One piece of technology that I enjoy very much is Sirius Satellite Radio. When you drive 40,000 miles a year, such a luxury is a Godsend. This wednesday and thursday, you can listen for free via your computer and get a sampling of "my bros" on the Howard Stern show. It's not for everyone, but I love that shit.
I hope you checked out the Team Young site for the party pix. It honestly looked like a blast! Deliverance Factory Team riders Wayne Dialed and Chad Parts

have shots in there that make me proud. Hatfield

was in attendence as well, but I didn't see any pix of him. That's why I have a team, so I can live vicariously through them.
Here's a shot of FOD Dave Davenport, keeping the dream alive with the Cobras 77 tee shirt. He and his pops are into the vintage MG sports car scene, which is pretty cool.

There are some good shots of Factory Rider #4 Stan Clocker and FOD Fro Ardelean on the Veteran site as well. If you scroll down, you can see some salty, actual veterans such as myself (looking terrified in a simple smith grind), Sean Rakos, SF Foster and Friendly Phil Rase. I'm not sure I mentioned it, but besides the new hats, ManBags and belts, there is also a new Deliverance Bandana that should be done very shortly. It will look something like this:

One last thing, please go here and vote for the awesome Joe Kid on a Stingray movie.

flashback 78, dude, I can't relate
Now Playing: Minutemen Little Man with a Gun in his Hand
I went to Modern tonight and the first rider I saw caused a serious double take. I didn't know the kid, but he had a yellow frame, white forks, blue rims and a blue stem. I thought I was seeing this

I know the bike in the photo has chrome forks, but in 1978, a lot of dudes were running white Red Line Proline forks, kind of like the white Odyssey forks the kid was running tonight. At a glance, the kid's bike looked so much like the Suzuki of my 1978 dreams. There was a kid from Indiana that came to our local track a couple times, David Freshour, who had a yellow Suzuki set up similar to the one in the pic. He also rode for Wakarusa Bike Shop, who had these amazing red, yellow and blue jersies. David Freshour wasn't even that good, but he had style and that Suzuki was amazing to me because it was like the one on the cover of Bicycle Motocross Action (my bible).
Any time you begin a conversation with someone by saying "I hate to bug you", "I don't want to insult you" or in my case tonight "It would take a long time to explain, so I'll spare you the details, but..." I'm big on that last one myself and often find myself trying to explain something completely retarded to some one who could care less. Like tonight. I found myself sitting next to the kid on the yellow bike and started to tell him about how it looked like a Suzuki, "who acutally made BMX bikes in the 70s and..." He gave me a courtesy laugh and looked at me like I was speaking Japanese. Who can blame him? I shouldn't have even brought it up, but I do have a blue Araya 7C (from 1978) on the front of my bike, so I thought that might exemplify what I was talking about. I'm an idiot, but it's okay. Every time I saw that bike tonight it made me really happy. I'm sure the fact that I had still had some of last night's eye make up accentuating my already haggard face didn't make the kid feel any more at ease

It was a fun session and at the end of the night, Dan Closser jumped directly over me. And I mean straight over my head. It was pretty wild.
The big Team Young party was last night and all reports indicate that it was off the charts. A couple people asked me why I wasn't there. It's like this, I am way, way older than every person that was there, as in old enough to be their Father. I'm okay with this age difference while riding bikes at the skatepark or shooting the shit on the deck of the ramp. I kind of see it like a hockey league or going to the gym or any other "sport". On the other hand, I don't feel comfortable and I find it mildly inappropriate (creepy?) for dudes old enough to be the Dad partying with kids half his age at a Halloween house party. I do look forward to seeing all the pix of the insanity on the Team Young site. I'm just glad I wasn't there when the cops came...
At the opposite end of the spectrum, the Halloween party that my wife and I went to with Noah (see above) was so incredibly lame I wanted to puke. Before we left, I asked if it was a "kid party" or an "adult party". My wife said it was an "adult party were kids were welcome". Sounds good to me. Besides the lame "farmer" and whatever his wife was supposed to be, my wife and I were the only ones at this party with costumes on. Every one else had their best leather jackets, Tigers sweatshirts and boring every day clothes on. Are they that dull or just so insecure in their own skin that they don't dare step outside their baggy-fit comfort zone? I am socially inept. I can talk to anyone and get along and I'm basically always comfortable around all types of people, but I can't fake a conversation. I don't relate to people like this. I'm like an old kid but even when I was a young kid I could never relate to anyone besides a couple of people that rode bikes or skateboarded. Now I can't even relate to very many people that ride bikes because (with a few great exceptions whom I'm fortunate to have in my life), I am an adult in a kid's world. I understand the kids but I can't hang with them and I can't relate to the boring adults and their mindless lives. I feel like an alien some times but I'll tell you this, when I'm on that bicycle, pretty much no matter what is going on, I feel good and I feel like I'm doing the right thing...
