THE REASON
The reason for the season is upon us
Do you know, what that reason is?
It started long ago inside a manger
A child born, by a mountain ridge
His mother, and his father were delighted
To see the miracle God brought them, on that day
Anxious, they imagined his bright future
A Savior for the world, birthed on the hay
As a toddler, he was much the same as most
Playing, skinning knees, and falling down
Crying in the night for mothers comfort
Laughing too, when something funny came around
As a teen he was preparing for his calling
Getting ready for the sinners he must save
Not yet aware of, his final mission
This to come later, before they laid Him in a grave
As a man He preached to scholars, the common people
Trying desparately to lead all to His light
But to no avail, most, they would not listen
Even though He taught the truth, and what was right
The moment came when all was understood
He was betrayed, and given over to the land
It was then He knew, this was what He was born for
A Sacrifice for every Child, Woman, Man
Nailed way up high, without one blemish
Was the Sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross
This has always been the reason for the season
A baby boy, born Christmas Day, to save the lost
